Traffic violation procedures in Criminal and Misdemeanor Law ·
I’m honestly not sure if I should jump in and help with this whole statute of limitations thing, but here’s the gist of how it works, I guess. Under the old laws, you had an absolute two-year limit starting from the day the violation actually happened, but then they went and doubled it with the new legislation—so now we're looking at four years. The tricky part, though—and this is where things get messy—is that some legal folks argue whether the statute of limitations is a procedural rule or a substantive one. So, the big question is whether the local courts are going to apply that longer window to older cases or not. Fingers crossed they don't, right? Anyway, there are tons of loopholes and ways to navigate it to avoid paying a fine, but man, it's complicated. If anyone's actually looking for a way out, I bet you could find an answer pretty quick... I mean, let's be real, there are plenty of people all over the US who are constantly dodging their bills and obligations anyway.
