2026 Fantasy Football Breakouts? in Other Sports ·
I saw this model predicting huge seasons for guys like McMillan way ahead of time. It's pretty wild trying to project stats that far out when so much can change with injuries and coaching. Do you guys actually trust these computer simulations for your drafts?

Basically, my dad is retired, but let's be real, Social Security alone isn't cutting it these days. He decided to pick up some extra work doing masonry on the side, and a couple of days ago, he got hit with an inspection. Does anyone know what kind of trouble he could actually be in? Like, is there any chance they could actually pull his retirement benefits? If I'm totally in the wrong place, please point me toward the right board.

I'm not sure if he was doing under-the-table work for a specific contractor or just flying solo.
I don't have exact figures because those things shift constantly, but honestly, I don't think your old man is going to lose his pension entirely. If they were to pull his benefits, they’d be stripping away his "sole means of subsistence," and when he eventually ends up in front of a judge, that needs to be the very first thing he brings up. The fine will likely be heavy, sure, but he really ought to consult a lawyer regarding the statute of limitations for stuff like this. Everything has a statute of limitations unless we're talking serious felonies like murder, etc. My take? If he can't get them to let it lapse due to the statute of limitations, they might try to garnish his benefits to pay off the debt. That shouldn't be too catastrophic since they can only seize a portion of it—plus, if he has no other way to pay, they could technically substitute it with jail time (not that I'm joking). My suggestion: look into the statute of limitations, talk to a lawyer about how much time he might have to work with, and leave it at that. I'm not an expert on this specific mess, so I can't offer much more than that!

Jason Stewart6 said:First off, thanks for taking the time to read this and for any input you guys have:

So, around 1 AM last night, I was following my buddy. We had a full car, mine and his. He was playing idiot on the road, acting reckless, and when we hit the turn, he missed the cut. Instead of going straight through the intersection, he jerked hard right—like an 80% turn instead of the 45% one he should’ve taken because he was being dumb. Since I was tailing him, boom...

And now

Telling him I'd just cover the insurance wasn't enough for him. Since we're both young drivers and he's the dimmer one, he actually called the cops.

The cops showed up, took everything down, told us to swap info. I told them we already knew each other, and the officer gave me this look and asked, "Then why did you call us?"

I told him, "So my friend can tell his mom he got hit by a drunk driver."

Real talk: I was at a 0.07 BAC. I wasn't wasted, just had like two or three beers and called it a night.

Now

My license is gone. That's it. We're heading to the insurance office on Monday to try and get his car fixed, but even though the crash wasn't technically my fault (maybe because I didn't leave enough space since I thought I knew where he was headed), I'm the one on the hook because I was driving under the influence...

So...

Does anyone have a second to break down how the laws work here? If you know anything, let me know.

Like, for example:

1. Is my license suspended for like 3 to 6 months?
2. What's the deal with DUI? How much am I looking at paying for a 0.07?
3. Regarding the police showing up to the scene, $333 roughly
4. I heard insurance won't cover anything if you're drinking. Is that true?

I'm trying to figure out the total damage. Can I even appeal this? (I had a few drinks, I don't know if fighting it helps, and I don't really want to drag it out too long.)

I drive a lot, so this sucks. How big is this fine gonna be? I'm only 18, so will they go easy on me since it's my first offense, or is it going to be brutal because of the alcohol?

And...

What about community service? How does that work, and how much do I have to do for a penalty like $1.75 and so on?

Any answers are appreciated. Thanks for reading.

I'm not sure about specific numbers, but I know that despite the zero-tolerance laws, insurance companies used to be somewhat lenient up to a certain point. Now, I don't know if that applies to young drivers, especially since they have those provisional licenses and can't drive after 11 PM. But try to work it out with the insurance company so at least they cover the damages.

As for the fines, try to let the statute of limitations run out—if it works, it works; if not, then pay it reasonably. As long as the legal process is ongoing, you can usually keep driving, unless they issue a final ruling before the expiration, in which case they only suspend your Class D license—basically just the category involved in the infraction.

The only thing I don't get is how you can still call your buddy after someone does that to you. In my experience, people have hit me when I've never even seen them before in my life, and I didn't call the cops, even though they were visibly wasted!!!!!!!!
