Hey there,
So, I managed to get pulled over by the police today, and they ended up ticketing me somewhere near $1333. It turns out my vehicle wasn't properly registered and didn't have insurance—which is a bit of a headache because I actually went to get everything sorted earlier today, but I couldn't pass inspection since my scooter is clocked at 58cc instead of the required 50cc. They also hit me with a citation for not wearing a helmet...
Look, I fully realize I'm in the wrong here, and I'm not trying to make excuses, but I was wondering if there are any legal loopholes or ways to avoid paying these fines? Like, is there any way for this to just expire or fall through the cracks due to a statute of limitations or something similar? Honestly, $1333 I'm pretty broke right now.
If anyone has any advice or knows how to navigate this, I’d really appreciate it. Thanks in advance.
Also, one quick thing... I didn't actually sign anything. The officer was just busy jotting down my name and my father's name, so I'm a little confused as to why I wasn't expected to sign a formal document myself.
Best regards,
