Importing from China

I handle imports from Asia too, but I'm a bit stuck on this whole thing about using agents in China.
I haven't actually sourced anything directly from China yet. Is it worth hiring someone, or can you just fly solo? I'm sure it's possible to work without them. If anyone has a contact number, I'd love to give you a call and chat about it. I'm actually heading out to that same province this November.
