Importing from China in Business, Accounting & Taxes ·

Well, it really just comes down to your specific situation and whether you can find someone to handle an LCL shipment out of China,

I used to work with this one freight agency over in Cleveland that specialized in exactly that kind of shipping.

Even if you aren't grabbing a full container, it all boils down to how much stuff you're moving and what your margins look like. Right now, ocean freight rates are pretty low, so for most goods, just filling up maybe half of a 20' container is a totally solid way to go.

Cheers

It seems everyone here is preoccupied with discussing the FedEx shipping terms, but I find myself wondering if anyone actually has firsthand experience dealing with CIF—where the seller, specifically a Chinese person, handles all the costs, insurance, and freight... Any insights would be appreciated.

Honestly, when you look at the actual business side of things, there isn't a massive difference... it just basically means the person paying for the ocean freight changes hands, right?
