A few days ago when I was shopping for a laptop, I was actually looking at that same Acer as an alternative to the Dell. But honestly, I dropped it from my list pretty quickly—I just didn't vibe with it in person, and yeah, I definitely had some preconceived notions about the brand too... 🙂

That Dell you're eyeing isn't a bad choice, really, but if you aren't dead set on having a 17" screen, you could probably find something even better in that price range you mentioned. For me, though, I’m always leaning toward Dell. 🙂

My bad for the mix-up earlier. I was double-checking if it was actually the exact same model, but I completely missed the part about the 2GB of VRAM and the screen specs.

Anyway, looks like Intel is slashing prices tonight, along with a few other retailers too. That Dell I was eyeing isn't $4,198 anymore—it's down to $1499—so the price gap between that one and the Dell you linked is shrinking.

To be honest, the Asus looks a bit more stylish in person compared to the Dell, mostly because the chassis is clearly trying to mimic those aluminum MacBooks. But the second you actually pick it up, all those similarities just vanish... 😁 Still, if you don't mind a keyboard that flexes a little and stuff like that, it might actually be a better buy than the Dell given its other features. The Dell feels a bit more rugged and sturdy—it’s definitely more comfortable for me when I'm settling in for a long session of typing.
I'm going to give them both one more deep dive tomorrow, but right now, I'm leaning toward the Dell about 90% of the time. 🙂

Even though the Dell looks better on paper, I’m honestly turned off by how flimsy the casing feels—plus, the keyboard tends to wear down way too fast if you're a heavy typer. So, I'm heading out tomorrow to grab this exact Dell, the red one, obviously... 😍
