How to get started with agtech and farming investments?

Every time I run into people who actually want to get their hands dirty and make something real, I honestly feel a little teary-eyed. 👍 It feels like this country is just crawling with middlemen, resellers, and those types of parasites who thrive while producing absolutely nothing—just massive holes in our wallets. I’ve actually been thinking about starting my own small farm, maybe some blackberry orchards and hazelnut groves, and eventually making blackberry wine. My biggest hurdle is just buying the land. I’m not exactly in a position to walk into a big bank like Chase and ask for a massive loan—I tend to view banks as a necessary evil in society anyway—so getting a decent-sized plot is tough. Working on a tiny patch of dirt just isn't worth the effort. The whole issue is these fragmented, tiny little plots that can't possibly compete in the real market. Maybe joining a cooperative would help? I know they exist... they usually group together around specific crops. What has your experience been with that sort of thing?
