macOS boot issues: MAC address error? in IT Support ·
I gave it another shot following the advice from Amanda James27, and wouldn't you know it—it actually works! I really can't thank you guys enough for all the effort you put into this; truly, hats off to everyone involved.
Best regards, Kenneth Hayes60 👍 👍 👍

In my experience, you're usually looking at one of three culprits: either the CMOS battery on your motherboard has finally given up the ghost, or the motherboard itself is failing—though I wouldn't bet on that if everything else seems to be running smoothly once Windows boots up—or, my personal favorite from a recent headache I dealt with, the power supply unit is acting up.

Well, I went ahead and swapped in a different motherboard and it works perfectly fine—so that's out. Then I tried a brand new battery, but it's still giving me grief... which is frustrating! But, mind you, once I hit F1 and bypass it, everything runs just great—I can jump into my games or browse the web without a single hiccup.

Still seeing the exact same issue—nothing has changed at all. I actually reached out to my brother to see if he’d tweaked any settings on his end, but he assured me he hasn't touched a thing. It’s just... persistent. Is there any way at all to disable that warning message? I'm getting a bit tired of having to tap F1 every single time I boot up—it feels a bit tedious, honestly. I did try poking around in the BIOS to see if I could find a toggle for it, but no luck there—completely invisible. So, I was wondering if anyone might know of some other workaround or a different way to clear it out once and for all?

Well, thanks everyone for the input! Honestly, I have a brother who handles all sorts of tech stuff—he’s quite the handyman—but I haven't actually performed an upgrade yet. I did try resetting the CMOS and even pulled the battery out for a bit, but no luck there; everything remains exactly as it was. I can't seem to find a MAC address on the motherboard itself—at least, not one I could spot—so I've just been looking at the serial number for now. I'm going to give what Amanda James27 suggested a shot, and once I see if that actually works, I'll jump back in here to let you all know how it went. Thanks again for all the help! 🙂

Every time I boot up my computer, I'm hit with this error message: "MAC address is invalid in both CMOS and Flash—press F1 to continue."
The motherboard I'm using is an ASUS
It just started happening out of nowhere—I haven't touched the CMOS settings or even gone as far as pulling the battery out to reset anything.
