That doesn't mean we should just hand kids over to this modern era—letting them stare blankly at computer screens all day, getting into trouble at twelve, or dressing provocatively...
We can't exactly fall back on old-school parenting either, because like you said, we'll just end up creating some kind of mental monster.
The real issue is that even if we teach our children right from wrong, it all goes out the window the second they step out into the world and leave parental supervision behind.
