Does "vibe" actually matter for professional success?

I was thinking about this today after seeing some clips of high-level athletes visiting new training hubs. There’s always this huge emphasis on the "environment" and how much a person appreciates the new facilities or the culture of a specific organization. It makes me wonder if we overstate how much our physical surroundings actually dictate our performance.
I mean, don't get me wrong, having a top-tier setup is great for morale. But I've worked in some absolute dump of an office where the AC barely worked and the chairs were broken, yet I think I was more productive there than I was in my fancy university library. It feels like people use "the environment" as a catch-all excuse for why they are or aren't succeeding, but at some point, it's just about the work you put in regardless of the view from your window.
Does a world-class setup actually change the outcome, or is it just a way to make the people inside feel more valued?
