Thank you all so much!🙂 I am honestly so worked up about this that I’ve actually run a fever of 99.5—which I am sincerely hoping breaks by tomorrow morning!!! Phew...
Okay... I am officially spiraling. I’m absolutely terrified because my surgery is tomorrow. It's a septoplasty combined with rhinoplasty. The one thing eating me alive right now is how confused I was during my consultation. I told the surgeon I wanted him to narrow my nasal passages and refine the shape, but I completely failed to mention that the tip needs work too because it's too bulbous. Dammit, he’s actually going to notice that, right? Or am I just delusional? I am panicking because I’m scared I’ll end up looking ridiculous with thin nostrils but still stuck with this potato nose. For the record, the nose isn't even particularly long or large; it’s just thick and blunt.
To make matters worse, I can't find a single shred of information on this forum about Dr. Maksimilian, who is performing the procedure!
HELP, someone please help before I lose my mind!!!!!!!
Hi everyone! I see there’s a massive discussion going on here... honestly, I haven't had the patience to read through every single post. The thing is, I have to undergo surgery because of a deviated septum and some absolutely terrible sinus issues. My right side is completely blocked. I went in for my consultation and was actually scheduled for surgery TODAY. I also requested an aesthetic "fix" because I have a bump on my nose (not a hook, but a bump on the side) and a fleshy, wide nasal structure. During my initial consultation before the surgery, they told me those cosmetic issues could be somewhat improved. But when I showed up today, they claimed they were slammed with patients and told me if I want everything done—both functional and aesthetic—I should come back next week or even in a year for the cosmetic part, and just proceed with the mandatory functional surgery now. Of course, I refuse to go through having my nose broken twice, so I'm going in next week. I want to know: has anyone else had surgery at Tony's hospital, where I'll be going, and what was their experience? Also, when it comes to narrowing the nose, do I explicitly need to ask them to remove that fleshy tip, or will they see it themselves? I mean... if they just narrow my nostrils without addressing the tip, I’m going to look like a little piglet!!! Not to mention how terrified I am... ugh. I didn't sleep a wink last night and I've been thirsty as a desert, but you aren't allowed to drink anything. And the doctor (Christian) says they have to put a cast on my nose... Please, help me!!!!! Thanks.

Hey there.
Look, it’ll pass quickly enough. I know it feels terrible; I dealt with intense nausea and this bizarre sensation—like a hollow emptiness in my stomach and feeling completely drugged out. But I bit the bullet, pushed through it, and honestly, I feel great now. I actually tried cutting my dose down for a bit... but ended up bumping it back up because I feel much better overall. Just so you know, I take mine in the morning paired with Valium. My psychiatrist suggested the combo because my hands were shaking pretty badly, but everything is steady now. Best regards!
Nathan Kim10 said:Well, obviously they won't if you're taking standard doses. Plus, just read the warning label on the box—it's not rocket science. You aren't supposed to mix anything that hits the central nervous system with alcohol. Even a kid should get that.☕ All antidepressants have sedative effects. Same goes for antipsychotics.
Honestly, I have no idea what you’re even talking about! An antidepressant isn't a sedative, and by definition, it can't have a sedative effect. Antidepressants lift your mood and get you moving; they don't calm you down. That’s exactly why people take them alongside other medications—because some of us (myself included) end up feeling way too wired or hyperactive on them... And yes, mixing alcohol with an antidepressant isn't recommended, but having a beer or two isn't the end of the world, provided you aren't someone who uses alcohol to spiral into a depression. If anything, this stuff makes me feel great!
Nathan Kim10 said:Antipsychotics can be used for depression too—usually just at lower doses, I guess.😉
Hey there.
I take Klonopin as a mood stabilizer, paired with Prozac. The Prozac tends to overstimulate me—it basically puts me in a state of constant agitation—so I rely on the Klonopin to bring me back down to earth. I actually saw my psychiatrist today, and she cut my Prozac dose in half to 25 mg, and honestly, I felt significantly better. I wasn't dealing with that intense hyperactivity anymore. As for the Klonopin, it works incredibly fast at calming me down when I'm feeling anxious or on edge, though I make sure to use it sparingly. Oh, and I did ask if it was okay to drink alcohol while on antidepressants. My doctor warned me that alcohol intensifies the effects of the medication, so she told me to stay far away from beer or even a glass of wine. I’ve tested that theory myself, and I didn't have any adverse reactions! Of course, if alcohol is something that typically triggers depressive episodes for you, then absolutely do NOT touch it.
Charles James3 said:I'm totally with you on this! I was just wondering what would happen if I drank, because after four years on antidepressants, you just want to feel normal for one night. But honestly, my health matters way more than that. Thanks for the input—there's no shame in asking, just in not knowing...
Well, here I am. I see a lot of negative comments regarding my habit of "drinking while on antidepressants." To be honest, it's hard for me to be around a social circle that's always out dancing and drinking without wanting to join in myself, especially since that's how my friends have always celebrated. Just to clarify, we aren't alcoholics, despite how it might sound to some of you reading this. And frankly, I don't understand the sheer panic surrounding this. If I take my 50mg antidepressant pill and then have a drink in the evening... what's the big deal? Aside from the "blues" I experienced even before I started medication, what could possibly go wrong?
Regardless, I plan to ask my doctor during my next checkup if I can stop taking these meds altogether... The real issue I'm dealing with is this breakup; I have to get through it one way or another, and I'm terrified of becoming dependent on pills and relying on them to function. I don't even know anymore... what I actually need is therapy to work on my self-esteem and my fear of abandonment... and someone to just be there for me.
Nathan Kim10 said:It would basically crank up the effects of the AD. It'd leave you feeling dazed. And if you happened to be taking an anxiolytic too, it could potentially mess with your brain's respiratory center. You really don't need that kind of extra trouble.
Hey there.
I'll weigh in too... Hmm... I actually asked my doctor about mixing alcohol with my meds, and they told me it's a one-way ticket to a coma. I have to admit, I went out and had a few drinks last night. Nothing terrible happened physically... I was actually in a great mood 🙂.....but today, I've been absolutely crushed by anxiety and this senseless sadness. There you have it. That's exactly how the combo of antidepressants and alcohol hits me.
Best to everyone!
And yeah... I thought I was just dealing with the end of a relationship, but damn it, this hurts even more!🤷
Larry Howard8 said:I’ve been on 100 mg for two weeks already, and I’m still crying and dealing with dark thoughts. I lost 3 pounds too. I really hope this dose actually starts working this time. 😢
I really don't know what to tell you... other than just grit your teeth and try not to obsess over exactly when it's supposed to kick in.👍 That’s exactly what they told me... I followed that advice, and well... I'm doing okay for now, and I can only hope it stays that way.
...I've been on a full dose of Zoloft (50 mg) for two weeks now, and I have to admit, I’m actually feeling okay. When I first started the full dosage, I honestly thought about quitting immediately because I felt completely drugged. It gave me such an intense surge of energy that it actually terrified me. Still, I decided to grit my teeth and push through it, and now it feels like my body is finally starting to adjust. I've even regained my appetite; I've actually lost three pounds since I started taking it. Honestly, it’s a relief... finally!😉
Also, I can't tell if I'm slowly getting over my breakup, or if the Zoloft is just giving me the courage to move on...

Thanks. I really hope you're right, because right now, this feels like a total nightmare... I just woke up feeling completely overwhelmed by anxiety and sadness.
Alright... I know some of you are going to lose your minds over this, but this is just how I need to get my thoughts out... I’m on day 11 of Zoloft. For the first four days, I was taking a quarter tablet, then for about five days I moved up to a half. I’ve decided to stick with the half dose for now. To be honest, I’m hesitant to take the full dose because from what I can see, many of you have been on half doses for an entire year, and frankly, I have zero interest in becoming dependent on these things. The main issue is that while the side effects have mostly vanished—no more nausea, maybe a little dry mouth... and thank God I can actually eat again—I’ve become incredibly tearful. It's infuriating. And I feel an impossible level of sadness. About two months ago, I ended a relationship during the exact same period I described in my previous posts, yet I feel significantly worse now than I did back then. I honestly feel like my head is going to split open from the grief. If I could reach in and just rip my own heart out to make this pain stop, I would. It's ridiculous. I take these supposed "uplifting" meds, and yet I feel even worse than I did before I started them! So, I’m putting it to you: should I keep going with them or call it quits?
Hey there, I'm jumping in too... Thanks for the replies... there aren't many here, but they're fine enough. After that day when I took half a dose of Zoloft around noon, I felt absolutely terrible—just pure nausea. Yesterday, I took it in the evening, and it’s been about an hour since then. My heart is racing like crazy, my jaw feels tight, I can't stop yawning, and my vision is incredibly blurry. Thank God at least the nausea is gone... except for this hyperactive, drugged-out, hypersensitive state I'm in. And honestly... sorry, but I feel exactly how I used to feel years ago after taking ecstasy!!! And let me tell you, that is not a sensation I care to revisit. I still have two days of half-doses left before I move up to the full dose, and frankly... I'm terrified! Is it actually true that after a few weeks of dealing with these stupid side effects, I'll finally start feeling great?
I started taking Zoloft at 50mg. For the first four days, I was just taking a quarter tablet, and everything seemed fine enough. But today, I upped it to half a pill (I’m supposed to stay at this dose for five days before moving to a full pill), and honestly, I thought I was going to lose my mind. My doctor warned me that I might feel nauseous, but she didn't mention it would be this constant. All day long, my stomach has been churning, I'm dizzy, and I feel completely wired—like I've been overstimulated by drugs or something. Is this actually normal when you're first starting these things? Because this definitely isn't how I want to feel. I can't help but wonder if my doctor just threw this prescription at me without much thought, just because it's a standard move. The reason I'm on this is because I've been dealing with suicidal ideation over trivial things, several panic attacks, mood swings, and extreme sensory sensitivity. I'm also still taking 0.50mg of Klonopin; they told me it acts as a mood stabilizer and helps calm me down, which is the only thing working right now after fighting this hyperactive, nauseous sensation from the Zoloft all day.
Please, I am genuinely confused here. I really don't want to become dependent on medication, but my doctor insisted we try Zoloft because it's supposedly highly effective at managing the severe PMS symptoms I deal with.
