I was thinking about consistency today, and it got me wondering about how much of our lives are defined by these tiny, repetitive rituals. I have this one specific tradition where I visit the same greasy diner on the first Saturday of every month, no matter how much I'm traveling or how busy work gets. It’s become this weirdly grounding part of my identity.
It’s funny how a person can become known for something so niche. I see people online all the time who have been showing up to the same event or following the same specific tradition for decades. To some, it probably looks like a total obsession, but to them, it’s probably just a way to mark the passage of time.
I can't imagine having that kind of dedication to a single event or person for fifty-plus years, though. That level of loyalty is honestly pretty intimidating.
What about you guys? Do you have a lifelong tradition, a yearly event you never miss, or some kind of ritual that has basically become a part of who you are?
