mellowjackal1 said:Thanks, ladies! You guys have been a lifesaver... honestly, I’m starting to wonder why they even feel entitled to stick their noses in my business!!!
I’m counting down the days, and I’m already right on the edge of a total meltdown because I feel like there just isn't enough time left.
We’ve checked everything off the list, but everyone keeps saying we need to meet up after Easter to finalize all the details.
Flowers-Final Agreement
Photographer—background tracks, painting for the DVD
Music-In intro song
Cookies-Final amount...
It’s a total disaster!
I feel like I could bite someone's head off or just burst into tears at any given second!

Why are you stressing out? This is just standard procedure. We already touched base with the photographer and the band, and we’re planning to call them on Monday before the wedding on May 8th. So, we'll settle the shoot timing on May 3rd. The musicians are solid and they already know our first song... don't blow a fuse for no reason. Some things, even if you want them settled right this second, just have to wait.
My advice is to just make a schedule. For instance, set April 12th to talk to the photographer, then April 13th to meet with the band... and just follow that pattern. If you stick to a plan, that panic about running out of time will eventually disappear.

Nicole Cox said:Hey everyone,

A friend actually recommended Vigor for wedding balloon decor, so I reached out to them and set up a meeting at one of those big wedding expos. Well, when I showed up, things went south fast. Not only did the person there have absolutely no clue about their own pricing or service packages, but they didn't even have any actual samples or portfolios to show me. We had specifically agreed to meet at this expo so I could see their work in person before we decided how to move forward, but it was just a complete waste of time.
If anyone knows of any other companies that specialize in balloon decorations for weddings, please shoot me a DM with their contact info. Thanks in advance!

You've got 99 balloons in St. Louis

Look, I’ve heard from a few people that most folks in that small town in Ohio where there are about five or six jewelry stores end up buying their wedding bands—and basically all their jewelry—there because the prices are great and the quality is solid. Apparently, even our local jewelers source their stock from those shops. Honestly, I’m a bit skeptical, but I’d love to hear what you guys think. If it turns out to be true, I am NOT wasting my money on our overpriced jewelers in SB if the exact same stuff is cheaper in Canada $333 than it is here

Look, it doesn't really matter. As long as they have enough people on hand so they aren't working themselves into an early grave, I don't care.

I’ve been totally cut off from the internet for a while now, unless I managed to sneak onto someone’s computer while visiting 🙂
I sent the makeup artist's number via DM to all the girls who asked, though I didn't mention she's based out of Pittsburgh.

Are 2010 weddings even happening yet? I heard some places started them and others haven't even begun.

The gowns at Lisa's arrived back in late October, but I'm not totally sure about the other boutiques in SB.
If I don't change my mind, this is the one I'm going with:

Yeah, she comes by. Last year we paid $27 per person, and honestly, our makeup looked flawless even after being out in 100-degree heat for 12 hours and dealing with about 200 people offering congratulations. DM me for her number

It’s been a minute, but we finally got some things booked:
the Matičević venue,
The Beatles as the band,
a wedding at Lisa's place,
the light show,
and makeup by Darij (he did my makeup before and it was honestly flawless)... so we're making progress.
The biggest headache right now is the catering since it's an all-in package—food, drinks, tents, dessert, servers, refrigeration, the whole nine yards... I’d love to hear any recommendations or horror stories you guys have. So far, our top picks are Matičević and Grozd.

Besides Grafoart, we also ran into Stella over in Des Moines; they've got great prices and a solid selection.
I feel bad for Lisa, but honestly, just give them a call before you head into the USA to set up an appointment because they definitely aren't on your way. The girls there are awesome and you can work everything out with them directly.
As for the cabinet, once you leave Lisa's, head east, follow the road for about a mile, and you'll see a little cabinet sitting on the right side.

Kimberly Kern2 said:Alright, I’m jumping in here to join the conversation. I’m getting married this year in August, right in the middle of Des Moines. I’ve already checked off the big stuff—got the venue, the photographer, the videographer, even the dress—and now I’m staring down the barrel of wedding invitations. Does anyone know where I can pick some up around town and what kind of damage I should expect to take on the wallet? Also, how far in advance do I actually need to get these things ordered? Like, how much lead time do I realistically need before they're ready to go?

Check out the local boutique on Strossmayer Street right next to the Walmart (yes, that's actually what's on their sign!!). I saw some seriously cute stuff there; they have girls who handcraft all their own invitations, RSVP cards, and all that good stuff.

Angela Davis74 said:The trade show was an absolute disaster. Anyone hoping to actually find anything useful was disappointed. It was overcrowded, disorganized, and frankly, low-quality. Not a single decent jeweler in sight—just two booths full of cheap suits, and even then, there wasn't a trace of anyone from high-end boutiques on Friday. A complete waste of my time.🙄

Man, we were shocked when we saw there wasn't a SINGLE jewelry vendor. Most of those few exhibitors were just from Indianapolis, the big city, or Savannah. We did like one booth with invitations right at the entrance, though, and that one flower shop from Savannah.
As for Arbanas, he actually stopped to chat with me twice on Sunday for at least 15 minutes total. I really liked him; the guy is a seasoned pro, and his suit tailoring is incredible. I’m not delusional enough to think he’s sewing everything himself, but the man clearly knows his craft and how to present it. Arbanas will definitely be back.

I think I caught a glimpse of a billboard out near the zoo in San Diego. I don't know much else about it since I almost never drive through that area. Let me know when you find out more; we were actually thinking about getting a canopy for ourselves.

quietlynx40 said:Hey there, hi everyone! 😉 Just like anyone else here, I made sure to read through all your previous posts before signing up. Honestly, kudos to you ladies (and some of you ladies who are already moms 🙂) for sharing such helpful advice. I’ve run into a bit of a dilemma, so I’m hoping a kind soul might be able to point me in the right direction. My partner and I currently live in Chicago, but we both grew up in the Midwest—specifically near Memphis. We’re planning our wedding for next year, and since all our family is back home in the Midwest, we’re looking to host the big day there. Does anyone know of a decent venue or restaurant that can accommodate about 250 guests within a fifty-mile radius that isn't just some local community center or fire hall? The only place I’ve found so far is the Matić Center over in Slaven Grad, but they’re already fully booked for 2010. Thanks so much in advance! 🙂 🙂

Bok!
There are actually two new venues being built over in SB that should be opening up right after New Year's Day. From what I heard, one holds 300 and the other fits 500—I think they're called Crystal, if I remember correctly.
Give them a call and see; you might find their number online somewhere. You might even get lucky and snag the date you want.
