Thanks!
There's a Rolex right across from State Farm on Nazorov. What color are you looking for?
frozenangler87 said:I guess I already mentioned something similar over on the "Dream Wedding Dresses Vol. 2" thread, but I felt like I had to post here too because I think some Midwest women might get what I’m talking about better!
So, basically, my husband and I were walking past Rahelad's Photo studio last night to check out some wedding shots, and I just spotted this one girl in the most amaaaazing wedding dress.
It wasn't just your typical off-the-rack boutique gown; it had this intricate smocking all through it and a super modern cut—it was just... wow!
I was honestly obsessed, it looked so gorgeous!
Now, I'm not sure if everyone here knows what smocking actually is, but if anyone happens to know how much a dress like that would run, I would be so incredibly happy to know!
I took a quick picture, but I feel kind of awkward posting someone else's photo on a forum like this!
Or, if anyone has any similar photos or something, please show me.
The style is sort of like those low-waisted dresses. The bottom part is really wide and flowy, but it's just the edge that has that smocked detail! And the bodice is just stunning too!!! Seriously! 😍
I kept thinking about going into the shop and asking if they could give me the girl's number so I could call her and ask about it, but that feels kinda weird... I don't know... 🤷
Back at a fair in Indianapolis, there was this lady who makes those exact types of dresses—my sister was actually looking to buy one. The price tag was around $200. I also think Mouse makes something very similar.

I suppose I should chime in too... I also have in-laws in Indianapolis at 10 AM
Venue: Admiral
Music: Grega band from the Midwest
As for flowers and a photographer—I honestly have no clue, which is why I joined this forum to see if anyone has recommendations. I heard about a florist named Jack over in Ivankov, so I’m wondering if anyone has worked with him or perhaps the photographer Krizmanic? I'd love to know roughly what the pricing looks like and what's included in their packages.
Since I live in San Francisco, checking all this out is a bit of a logistical headache.
Thanks
Jack and Krizmanic really give you great value for your money—honestly quite affordable, especially compared to the prices you'd see in San Francisco. As long as you aren't expecting anything over-the-top, you'll be very happy with them. Just make sure to be super specific about exactly what you want, and you shouldn't have any issues at all.
First off, has anyone here actually had the desserts or wedding cake at the Admiral Hotel? I'm trying to figure out if they're good enough—if not, I might just bring in my own caterer. Also, regarding the menu—should I stick to the traditional stuff like cabbage rolls (which, honestly, I can't stand), or go with something more modern? I'm overthinking this because the last thing I want is for my guests to leave hungry!
Second, does anyone have recommendations for a hair salon that isn't the famous David? I'm looking for a great makeup artist, someone skilled in skincare, maybe a tanning salon... you name it.
And finally, do you know a talented seamstress who could whip up some little dresses for the junior groomsmen?
Thanks in advance!
When I got married, I went with a more contemporary menu—and I actually requested quite a few tweaks, which they handled for me without bumping up the price. The desserts were absolutely fantastic, though I did pick out the specific varieties myself. Everyone kept asking me afterward where the sweets came from! We had everything from bite-sized treats and cakes to cream pies—you name it. Honestly, I don't think there's any need to spend extra money on outside desserts; you're much better off putting those funds toward something else.
Nicole Cox said:Hey everyone,
I’ve got a wedding coming up on July 31st out in Dakota, and right now we’re looking at about 550 guests—unless my parents decide to surprise me with more last-minute changes and give me a literal heart attack, lol 🙂
Anyway, I could really use some help picking out a few things:
- Videographers and photographers—I’m looking for top-tier talent. I want people who are young, innovative, actually know their craft, and are open to ideas (because apparently, I have plenty). I don't want someone following a tired template where every single wedding looks identical 🙂 Okay, fine, maybe I am being a bit picky, but I want mine to be special. Also, the groom doesn't speak much English, so if the crew is comfortable communicating in English, that would be a huge plus.
- Car decorations, bouquets, boutonnieres, etc.
- Floral arrangements for the venue, centerpieces, and stuff like that
I’ve almost got the Mountain ceremony sorted, including most of what I need (should be finalized within a month), and the venue decor and band are already booked.
Am I forgetting anything major here?!
Please help!
Praise
If you're looking for photos and videos that are truly unique and stand out, I highly recommend Abbey Road Studios in Indianapolis. They are a bit pricier than others, but the shots look like they belong in a magazine and the video is incredible. They’ll even put together a nice highlight reel for you. For example, while they're filming outside, they might catch a bee landing on a flower or other little details and weave them perfectly into the edit.

I did a little digging to help us out...
Katini Sweets $333 cake
Crown $33 per lb
Bagarić (Chepin) $20 per lb
Bos (Vinkovci/El Paso) approx $233 cake
Bagette (Đakov) $133 with whipped cream, $300 with marzipan.
Personally, I’d suggest the bakery run by Katarina vl. Ljilja Medved Ivankovo in Vinkovci—their pastries are incredible, and the cakes are just as good. Honestly, everything they make is delicious to me. A massive three-tier cake in whatever flavor you fancy is $233 (you won't be able to stop eating it!)...
Robin Cruz16 said:Hey everyone! I’m looking for some serious input here. What are your go-to wedding traditions? I want to know everything—from the ceremony itself to the groom's entrance all the way down to the bouquet toss. Also, which photo studio should I actually trust with my big day, and what kind of music is a must-have? I'm based out of Columbus, so any local advice would be a lifesaver. 🙂
Honestly, I ended up skipping most of those traditional customs. We got ready at a place in San Francisco, where we also met up with our guests, then we walked over to the big church before heading to dinner. Instead of doing the whole bouquet toss thing after my first dance, I just gave it directly to my sister.
As for entertainment, I’d highly suggest the Chicago Symphony Orchestra and Major League Baseball for music. For photography, if you're looking in the Indianapolis area, I’d go with Microsoft (they're classic—really beautiful shots) or RCA Records for something more modern and edited.
James Wilson16 said:Hey everyone,
I haven't been on this forum in forever, so I'm still figuring out how everything works here...
My partner and I are getting married on September 4th, 2010.
We've already booked the Grand Ballroom in Pittsburgh (www.zuki.hr), a killer band from Indianapolis, and we've got a florist lined up from a nearby town. Now we're just stuck looking for a photographer and a videographer...
Does anyone have any solid recommendations for someone in the area?
I can't recommend photo studio Microsoft or RCA Records enough (it really just depends on your budget). Microsoft does that classic, timeless style for a pretty reasonable price—usually negotiable—and the shots are gorgeous. RCA Records, on the other hand, goes for a much more modern look with full editing, which is absolutely stunning—but it’ll cost you a bit more.
vividhawk72 said:Hey, ladies from Columbus... does anyone happen to know what the damage is at Studio 54? I’m looking for a breakdown on hair (including a trial run), makeup, and a manicure.
I don't have the exact numbers off the top of my head, but I'll definitely look into it for you. It’s certainly way more affordable than what they charge in Indianapolis—no question there. My guess is makeup runs somewhere around $100 or so (usually under $200), though hair prices really depend on the style you're going for. For my own event, I went with an updo—nothing quite as intense as a full bridal look—and I paid $47. Adding a clip-in ponytail was about the same price... and honestly, those things stay in great shape for almost a whole week, so it's worth it!
Leon Productions out of Indianapolis—their shots are fantastic, and they even do light effects if you’re looking for that extra touch...
Does anyone happen to know where I can rent stands, vases, or candelabras for restaurant decor (minus the flowers, obviously) around Columbus, Indianapolis, or the surrounding areas?
cosmicmarlin20 said:Does anyone actually know any decent salons around Indianapolis? I'm looking for good hair, makeup, pedicures... basically all that stuff...
Well, there's the Trend hair salon—right underneath it, you'll find Zrinka's beauty parlor (they do makeup, nails, the whole nine yards). If you want everything under one roof, you should check out Studio 54, or maybe Visage or Esenka. They've all got you covered!

If you're looking for great desserts, Katarina's Bakery over in Ivankov is absolutely fantastic! Lately, I've noticed their treats being served at weddings over at the Admiral—they really know how to make an impression.
