Hey ladies,

Quick question—has anyone here actually tried making DIY invitations using test tubes? If so, where on earth did you find them and how much did they set you back?

Before we bought our rings, we hit up every jeweler in Indianapolis. Gold prices usually hover around 200-$80/g. More or less, everyone carries similar (or identical) models. You often have to wait a bit for custom pieces, but it isn't a big deal. I know someone else on this forum mentioned the jeweler inside IKEA. In my experience, I have nothing but praise because they made exactly what we wanted. For instance, we got an exact match to a ring from the Celje jewelry store (where one costs about $1.25), but we got two for $0.90, and mine actually has three diamonds. It was a great deal for me. Plus, I requested an anatomical shape for the interior, which adds more weight. Diamond authenticity is checked with a little device that beeps and turns green when it touches the stone. I think it works based on hardness principles.
Regarding white gold—it’s never perfectly white; there's always a slight yellowish tint. That's normal. We just asked them to rodium-plate them extra so they would look truly white.
So, that's my take. Still, I recommend checking out the jewelers in Vinkovci and don't be afraid to ask about the price per gram. You can always get a discount if you pay cash.

P.S. The guy at IKEA works strictly from photos. He doesn't have display models. But it might still be worth driving to Indianapolis or finding someone similar in Vinkovci.

Is that jeweler at IKEA even still there, or did they close down?

That only works if the venue is strictly for the wedding party... but since Kopika is a restaurant, that's not gonna fly.

Seriously, does anyone actually let people smoke inside the venue?

My in-laws are having their big bash over at Copeland, and even though we booked the whole place out for a private party, the management is still breathing down my neck saying guests can't smoke indoors. Like, hello? It’s a private event!

What's the deal where you guys are? Is it just me?

Paul Garcia20 said:I suppose I should just mention that one day, when I finally decide to tie the knot, I’m definitely going to book 😍 Z_Maju to handle the photography (assuming they don't retire before my future husband actually makes up his mind🙄), because honestly, I haven't seen anyone take better photos...
plus, I don't really know anyone else whose profile picture looks quite as pleasant—which matters to me, I guess, since I have no desire for a photographer who seems unfriendly, never smiles, or might just get drunk and forget they even have a job..

So, on another note, I was wondering if anyone who’s had their makeup done by Jelena Marjanović could maybe drop a link to some photos? I’d love to see her work. A friend of mine is getting married soon, and since I’ve stepped up as the organizer🤣, I want to be sure before I give my recommendation..
If I recall correctly, she did my makeup a few times during those promotional events over at Martimex, but she always seemed to apply way too much foundation😢 (though, then again, almost every makeup artist I've ever used has done that, so maybe it's just me and the fact that I naturally look a bit darker than I actually am)

Thanks in advance, I guess😉

Totally agree! 🙂 Huge props to Maya and her partner John Doe, they are seriously indispensable... See you guys in September 🙂))
And about Taylor Swift, she's been taken for over a year now
Here are the links for the makeup looks

Bradley Wright said:I have a quick question if anyone here happens to know the answer
do I need to have an even or an odd number of bridesmaids, or is that
even not a factor at all?????

You need 2 bridesmaids to greet guests when they arrive (one holds the basket, the other hands out petals) and then another 2 to decorate the cars... Honestly, I think 4 is plenty. Plus, don't forget the groom has 2 bridesmaids coming in with him later—what are they supposed to just sit there doing? :P
For example, those 2 could help seat people at the tables or something.

Don't let old traditions dictate your wedding party. Make it work for you, because at the end of the day, it's YOUR wedding party. 🙂

Like, in my case, there was this whole debate about having 2 groomsmen to walk me down the aisle... Personally, I want my brothers to do it, but people are telling me one guy has to be on the other side, like one from the groom's side and one from mine... What kind of nonsense is that? Everyone says something different... look, I'm deciding for myself who walks me down the aisle! :P They say they shouldn't be married? Well, mine are married! :P I'm picking them based on what I want and who I actually want standing next to me... I'm not gonna pick some random cousin I saw once in my life just because he isn't married yet... :P

swiftcrane31 said:I noticed they have a webpage, but there aren't really any videos posted so I can actually hear what they sound like... Kiara thanks for all your help 🙂 just tell me one more thing—did they know how to set the right mood, and did they tend to take long breaks during their sets? thanks
best regards

If I remember right, they don't really do breaks at all, other than the usual stuff like dinner or a photo op... they're super professional about that. And yeah, they definitely know how to set a vibe 🙂

rapidfox42 said:Does anyone have any thoughts or experiences with the Qattro band out of Indianapolis? Would love to hear what you guys think.
Thanks 🙂

Look, I haven't actually seen them live yet, but all my friends who've been to weddings they played at say they're great. Apparently, the guys are hilarious, always cracking jokes, and the singer actually gets out there on the floor to sing while everyone's dancing... Honestly, everything I've heard about them has been nothing but good stuff.

Good luck! 🤣🤣🤣

Are you honestly suggesting that someone could just grab a $1,000 DSLR, snap some shots of their relatives, run them through a $45,000 printer, and somehow walk away with world-class photography? It just doesn't work that way. Especially if you lack the talent and the artistic eye to back it up.
Besides, I really feel like getting dragged into an argument at this level is just a complete waste of time....

Plus, I spent two years working in this industry, so I actually know how things work on the inside...

Oh wow, we’re already throwing insults? If you think anyone here is some kind of uneducated hillbilly, then look in the mirror, because you clearly can't even read.
Look, I’m not even gonna stoop to your level. I was trying to be polite and point out that calling your little pitch "top-tier and professional" is a massive stretch, but apparently, you have to pick a fight with every single woman on this forum. In your world, you’re the only one who’s "pro" and the rest of us are just "unprofessional" amateurs, right? Typical.

..... honestly, I'm starting to love these two words, don't hate me! 🙂))

Daniel King4 said:I think the photography service works great and is super professional, so maybe look at what you're paying musicians... you give them 1500 bucks and they play for five hours and head home, while photographers have five more days of work and gear worth at least 50k... people really shouldn't talk about stuff they don't understand, especially when you see how much worse people work in Washington, D.C. while charging $3333 basic rates for standard shots. If I were the photographer, I wouldn't give you anything for $1200 pennies, because honestly, it's not easy money and you're stuck with the consequences for life... peace

I honestly don't get why you're even bothering to argue with people, trying to convince them that "certain" photographers are "PROFESSIONAL AND TOP-TIER" when those people had the exact opposite experience with them... It's their opinion and they have every right to say it...

I think we've had enough "PROFESSIONAL AND TOP-TIER" advertising for one day, and I'm pretty sure those "top-tier" photographers don't want this kind of publicity at any price.

And honestly, does anyone actually know how much Mella costs? Please, if anyone has an idea, let me know—I don't want to make the trip if it's overpriced, like some people are suggesting... (though I guess "expensive" is pretty subjective 😁)... I just really need to know the price🙏

6k = 6 $0.00 🙂thousand

Jesse Watson40 said:My advice is to steer clear of the jeweler located inside the General Mills in Columbus. They sell yellow gold rings that are coated in something meant to mimic white gold, only for you to end up with a multicolored ring a month later once the finish wears off. I'm writing this based on my own unfortunate experience.

Ugh, that is honestly terrible! Some lady at one of the jewelry stores actually tried to tell us that it was some kind of "new technique" they were using. Like, really? They probably do that if they're mixing yellow and white gold... Whatever. I am definitely going to have to grill them about that before I even think about buying a ring.
Everything you need for a Midwest wedding in Weddings ·
So, anyone got a specific jewelry store they’d recommend for wedding bands? Or maybe some horror stories or good shoutouts about certain places... ???

From what I've seen so far, the prices on these ring models vary like crazy. Some jewelers claim they can easily add a rounded edge to a band—you know, making it way more comfortable and polished to wear—and swear the price stays the same. But then other shops start making excuses, saying it'll be harder to do or that the price is gonna jump up. Some even say it's impossible for certain styles. What's the deal? Has anyone actually dealt with this crap before? 😍😍😍

swiftcrane31 said:Would anyone be willing to share Diana's number with me? My wedding is coming up this May and I honestly have no clue who might end up being my partner yet...
Does anyone happen to know a great florist around here, and does anyone have an idea of what the typical costs for wedding flowers look like these days? Thanks so much!

I'm in the exact same boat! A friend told me she paid for the bouquet, boutonnieres, and those five little things for the bridesmaids $900 and honestly? That sounds freaking insane. So yeah, if anyone actually has experience with this stuff, please spill the tea on flower and bouquet prices🙄🙄👍👍
Everything you need for a Midwest wedding in Weddings ·
Anyone here actually dealt with Bouquet before? What’s the damage looking like with prices lately?
Is it even possible to just show up with a photo and have them whip up something similar, or am I stuck picking from whatever's in their catalog?

I'm based in Indianapolis and have a wedding coming up this October in Green Valley........ I'm thinking about hiring Maya Peric and her crew for the photography, so I wanted to ask if anyone knows what their DVD quality is like. I saw her wedding shots on Facebook and they are incredible..... seriously impressive.....🙏...but I have no idea how their DVDs turn out...🤷.....does anyone know.....

Just grab her for coffee! They'll probably let you look at a sample DVD right then and there.
Honestly, my video was just okay... I ended up using them too.

blueowl88 said:Hey everyone,
I have a quick question for you. I'm looking for a wedding cake. Nothing fancy—just a classic three-tier round cake with frosting (my aunt is going to handle the decorations herself)... so nothing over-the-top or complicated. I stopped by Caitlin's Bakery today to ask about pricing, and I nearly fainted when they told me what a wedding cake costs. $333 😵 Look, I respect their quality and everything, but that price tag is just way out of my budget. Does anyone have some better ideas for something reasonably priced that still tastes great? 😉
Thanks.

So this lady who's making my cake is asking for $50 for just one tier... which means $200 4 tiers.. because apparently every single tier is its own separate cake.

blueowl88 said:I don't know, but it feels like this forum is a bit quiet lately. Maybe it's just because everyone is still recovering from New Year's Day. 🤷
Look, let me give you my take on this. I’ve spent a lot of time weighing my options regarding the invitations, and honestly, I’ve come to the conclusion that it’s probably better if I just design them myself. I haven't actually started yet—we still have four months until the wedding, and those little details tend to shift every single day. Everything else needed for them is ready to go; I just need to nail down the exact ceremony time before I dive in. Still, if I hadn't decided to DIY them, I think I would have gone with Magic. I'm not entirely sure where they're located right now—I think someone mentioned they were based out of Indianapolis, just across the river—but I've seen their work and really liked what they do. Their pricing seems pretty reasonable, too.
If I'm wrong, please feel free to correct me. It would be good to see some actual movement on this forum. 🙂

P.S. Wishing everyone the very best this New Year's Day. And to all the brides-to-be, good luck with the wedding planning and the big day itself. 😉

I'm also thinking about making my own invites, maybe even thank-you notes too. Does anyone know where to find the best supplies for invitation making? And how are the prices looking?

Thanks in advance 🙏🙏🙏🙏

Christian Taylor8 said:Yeah, she comes by. Last year we paid $27 per person, and honestly, our makeup looked flawless even after being out in 100-degree heat for 12 hours and dealing with about 200 people offering congratulations. DM me for her number

That is seriously such a steal. Honestly, I haven't heard of anyone doing makeup for less than $33. I am totally paying my own makeup artist $50.
