or honestly, just tune out the religious talk radio too 😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂

I guess I'm just looking for some actual serious answers here, so if anyone can help out please just say something, but maybe if you don't know anything about this just stay quiet... 👍

Honestly, I just need some background noise for my place while I wait for the musicians to show up! 👍

Does anyone have a solid playlist of upbeat tracks to get the party vibe going? I'm talking stuff like Bruno Mars, Justin Timberlake, maybe some old-school Maroon 5 or something along those lines...
this apple looks absolutely perfect... I guess there might be some kind of joke going on in California where they'd charge you like 50 bucks for something like this... just so they could serve you some warm sandwiches inside it or whatever...

it’s totally breaking through, maybe 🙂

redviper17 said:We had already paid half upfront, like a deposit... My husband was right there with me, and we made it very clear that we weren't satisfied. But she just kept playing the victim, saying how sorry she was and how hard things were for her. She even claimed my cakes arrived late, so she had to pay another woman to pack everything up on Saturday morning, and then suggested she could just refund us later $33 😳.... Maybe we shouldn't have handed over the cash, but I've officially cut ties with her and told her straight to her face that I wouldn't recommend her to anyone! I'm only sharing this so you ladies know to always get a firm price upfront, rather than having someone give you an estimate like $2000 and then hitting you with a much higher bill at the end!
Since our party went so smoothly and was otherwise well-organized, this was really our only complaint. Plus, the cookies and the cake were delicious, so I decided to let it go... 🤷

It’s not your problem if she already paid someone else... you gotta take risks in business, I guess... It's good you posted this warning, but personally, I wouldn't have paid her a dime!

redviper17 said:Here’s a little heads-up from my side: ladies, please be extremely careful when you're booking a vendor for an American cake service. Don't get me wrong, the cakes and pastries themselves are delicious, but that woman absolutely wrecked me... I picked out a specific dessert display a whole year in advance, only for her to show up on my wedding day with something completely different! My husband and I were totally losing our minds when we saw what was being served in the hall. I even went as far as bringing her a photo of myself in my wedding dress just so she could see the colors—it was white with pink accents—and I explicitly told her, "I want white cakes with pink decorative details." Then, she calls me just three days before the reception claiming she had a "vision," saying she knew something else would look better with the dress. I figured, okay, fine, thinking she meant the table decor, but then she serves us these huge, greasy purple things and a completely different display! And wouldn't you know it, she charged me more for the cake than originally agreed $167! 😠 On top of all that, she actually billed me extra for packaging the treats for an hour or two; she charged me $200!!! That's something that should honestly be included in the price of sweets that are already $30/kg!!!
So, just a word of caution regarding Bridget. She acts incredibly sweet to your face, but then she screws you over and plays dumb, acting shocked by the situation while charging you for everything. To make matters worse, her son just stands right there next to her defending her every move!

Don't take this the wrong way, but you're crazy if you actually paid that amount...!
And her son is just standing right there? Come on... where was your husband?? He should've just stuffed all those pastries down his throat!
Why'd you even pay if you weren't happy with it...

Adam Bishop20 said:Hey Holly Ann! I think it's around 38 Euros, but I'm not 100% sure. I called them once just to get the scoop, but honestly, the Bolero looked way better to me, so I ended up ditching the whole idea. If I were you, I'd just give them a ring—it's not like it's rocket science, right?!
Here's the link if you want to reach out to them!

Later...

I mean, it kind of depends on how many people you're trying to fit in the hall... if Dollis is charging 38 Euros, then I guess that's pretty pricey for a venue in a small town like Dugopolje... I don't want to mislead you or anything, but I'm pretty sure from what I've heard that the price is closer to 30 Euros... but if they really are asking 38, I think that's way too much, especially since you've got such a massive Pirate to pay for too...

Pirate's got this $42 menu where you get a mix of fish and meat...

I honestly don't have the words for behavior like that. And then they act surprised when people stop showing up to church? How can anyone stick by "pastors" like that... A guy at a local diner approached me last night—probably because I was still visibly shaken from earlier—and mentioned how much he loves Notre Dame in Paris, suggesting we should visit. Look, I get it; dealing with all sorts of people isn't easy, but how can you, as a priest, lack even a shred of basic humanity and just brush off two young people like that? Where is the heart? I can't even find the right words; it's just shameful. He isn't acting like a human being. When we walked out, I spent two hours crying... just because someone would behave that way.
It makes me sick to my stomach. I don't even want to see him again. Thanks, I think I'll do what you suggested. Or maybe I'll ask our own priest to handle this, since he’s a good man and absolutely adores my son—you wouldn't believe how much he likes him once he meets him. Either that, or I'll go back to that place myself, but this time I'll be the one doing the talking. I'm coming in to book an appointment. Please just note down the date and time, and I'll bring my priest with me. Thanks, and goodbye.

Just ignore that idiot... I told you not to let it get to you... you've got your own priest, so don't worry about it... 👍

Replying to the previous post, for bluegardener60!

Honestly, don't even be surprised by how that priest is acting; there are all kinds of weirdos out there, so I guess just don't take it personally!!

Look, it's like this:

You have every right to get married whenever you want, and you can totally bring "your own" priest to handle the ceremony if you need to!

The reasons why you're looking to tie the knot are completely valid and they're your business, so he doesn't need to know a single thing about them!

The church building itself isn't his property; it belongs to him just as much as it belongs to you or anyone else, because, well, we are the Church!

!! Covert, don't even let that thought cross your mind !!

It's not too early at all, since you're just setting up an appointment now—what's even the big deal if it's 11 months away versus 10 or 9? It makes zero difference!

Since things are playing out this way, and if I were actually living in your neck of the woods, I'd probably do this:

If you know any other priest, or if you can find one who is willing to marry you, maybe ask him to go with you and your fiancé to Savannah so he can talk to the guy. You'll see how quickly the attitude changes, because he's definitely not going to act like that toward a "colleague," and while he might still be a bit difficult, I'm pretty sure he won't just blow you off like that!

I swear, it seriously makes my hair stand on end when I see these "priests" who have basically turned their "calling" into a private little business and started treating the church like their own personal office and private property!

rustyorca122 said:Yeah, I saw some girls commenting on here saying that once you hit about 80 people, the space starts feeling a bit tight... but since we’re looking at maybe 70, maybe pushing 80 tops, it should actually be pretty cozy..
And honestly, if I could emphasize one thing, it'd be making sure the portions are decent so nobody leaves hungry.
I know exactly how much it sucks when the food is just bad or there's barely anything on the plate..
We had this nightmare situation once over at Westin in NYC—not enough food, everything was lukewarm and just totally bland... and the bill was absolutely astronomical..
To me, $50 still feels reasonable if you compare it to what you'd pay for a meal in downtown Chicago or around there..
But I get it, for $50, my guests better leave feeling full and happy..
Was there lamb on the menu? How was it? Some girl was raving about it earlier so I figured it would be good..
Ugh, man..
Thanks so much, you're seriously helping me out with all this advice.. I'll probably go check it out in person, but honestly, nothing beats hearing from people who've actually been there. You know how it is, everyone's got an opinion on everything, obviously.
Oh, and they told us we can bring our own booze if we have specific whiskeys or certain foreign beers we want them to serve.. which sounds pretty sweet to me.

check your PM

rustyorca122 said:Maybe they just stuck to some standard set menu... but I gotta say, it bugs me that you felt the portions were tiny and the food was a letdown..
We were actually planning on just putting together our own custom menu to fit what we wanted. We weren't really leaning towards the classic route..
So, how was the service? Were the servers decent—you know, quick, sharp, and able to fly under the radar? And was the drink selection alright?
Thanks a million for the heads up..

I don't even know what to tell you... the place was absolutely packed for that hall... there were maybe 100 people and we were all squeezed together like sardines. There was zero space between the tables, and the tables themselves were those long ones... plus, it was freezing cold... everything was just cramped. I honestly don't know what it's like in the summer... I'm just hoping they have outdoor seating because the location is killer, but they really need to step up their game if they're charging $50 a head... drinks like beer, wine, and soda were included in that price... and they seriously better be good for that kind of money...

rustyorca122 said:Who even are you?
I mean, I read through the thread, but then some girl mentioned being "careful," and now I'm just sitting here wondering why she said that... kind of freaks me out a little.
Check what on Saturday? *confused*
Honestly, I’m mostly looking for feedback from people who actually had their wedding at the San Antonio venue... like, tell me about the food and the service? The posts haven't really gone into detail there. And seriously, that comment about being careful is really starting to bug me. Like, why??

I was actually there at one of the banquets... and from what I gather, they charge like $50 per head... I don't know exactly what's included in that rate, but personally, I don't think it's worth it even a little bit... the food quantity is lacking and it isn't great either... I wasn't exactly thrilled myself... I get the feeling they just jacked up the price because it's a 4-star hotel... the location is top-tier, no doubt about it, especially during the summer... parking is taken care of... but I wouldn't recommend it for more than 80 people... maybe even fewer than that...

Is there a date set yet?

Not quite yet, unfortunately, but we're looking at some vague "as soon as possible" kind of timeline🤣

Joseph Wilson31 said:Yeah, I totally see what you mean—those girls are seriously lacking that studio vibe, so now I'm actually curious, like, what makes them such top-tier picks and what kind of price range are we even looking at here?

I've seen their work and if the price really is $1,300, then I think it's worth it... I know some people charge the exact same or even more and the photos aren't even that great...

Yeah, I think I get what you're getting at, and I'm pretty sure it's not even about the money... I guess I'm just part of that "who you know" crowd.🤣>

Nicholas Ortiz8 said:Larry Ross43, I honestly don't know if anyone has gotten back to you yet, but a few years back we were asking around about V. California and they told us the venue rental alone was going to run us around 2,500 bucks. We heard The Arcade was doing some catering for parties over there, but then once we finally tracked down enough people from The Ville, we were told they aren't even doing weddings anymore... Who knows if things have changed since then? Your best bet is probably to check with The Arcade, because if you look at their website, they still have some photos from when they catered events at that location.

I'll check it out, thanks so much! 👍

I can't give a definitive verdict just yet—I really need to get through my audition process first—but from everything I've gathered so far, they seem quite talented. They're actually playing at the Tropic Club tomorrow starting at noon 😕. If you want a little preview, there are a few clips available on YouTube

I guess they might be worth checking out since I know a guy in the band... though I wonder how much they actually make... it's a full band setup, I suppose...
