Land in Sisk isn't going up for another 20 years, if ever. It's the same story in Montana. I'd rather put my money into mutual funds. As for those coastal islands, they became overpriced a long time ago.

I have zero interest in mutual funds. Unless I had a better alternative, I’d just pass. Stocks seem interesting, though my experience there is limited. Still, I am interested. However, this idea of paying a broker a cut of my earnings to manage my stocks feels exactly like dumping money into a fund. It's the same thing, isn't it?
I was looking for suggestions more along the lines of buying up specific countries... or buying local real estate...
