Schizophrenia - General Discussion in Psychology & Therapy ·
Kudos to you for being so brutally honest. Your situation is honestly such a perfect example of how a regular person can end up trapped in a total life maze if they try to seek help from "authorities" when things get heavy. I’m with everyone else here—I think what you’re dealing with is more of a gift than some kind of illness. Even the top experts in this field (like the head of psychiatry over at Johns Hopkins or similar big-name institutions) have basically admitted they don't know nearly as much about schizophrenia as they'd like to claim, though they still know way more than the average person on the street. The whole way they treat patients feels like one giant trial-and-error session where they just toss different meds at you until something sticks, and then they slap a diagnosis on you based on whatever drug actually worked. It sounds absolutely catastrophic to me, especially when you consider how often doctors are being "updated" by Big Pharma through fancy seminars, trips, gifts, and—let's be real—straight-up cash. It's hard to expect the system to change when you realize one doctor might be juggling 500 patients at a time.
Personally, I’m a practical believer. Through meeting all sorts of young people from different faiths, I’ve crossed paths with folks who have dealt with schizophrenia before. Listening to their life stories (which, by the way, sound like a total nightmare), I’ve tried to wrap my head around the core issue. My take? People with this level of emotional intensity and intellectual speed should really be striving for absolute perfection—or rather, they are essentially condemned to chase it (what we Catholics would call their "crisis"). Plus, since I've noticed patience isn't exactly their strong suit, you really have to be incredibly careful about picking the right spiritual or physiological goal and bracing yourself for a massive amount of setbacks... I could ramble on about this forever and end up sounding like some preacher at a local church, but I won't.
The secret is in achieving perfection, wherever that may lie.
Good luck.
