Is everything becoming a fractional investment?
in Hobbies & Leisure ·
I was reading about how massive global events are being restructured lately, and it really got me thinking about how much of our "shared" culture is being sliced up into tiny little pieces for private equity. It feels like we’ve reached a point where nothing is truly "whole" anymore. Everything—from real estate to major sporting milestones—is being broken down into equity stakes for big-money players.
It’s a bit unsettling to me. There used to be a sense that these massive global spectacles belonged to the fans or the world at large, but now it feels like they’re just being treated as high-yield assets to be carved up and sold to the highest bidder before the whistle even blows. It feels less like celebrating a game and more like watching a leveraged buyout in real time.
Does anyone else feel like this "fractional ownership" trend is sucking the soul out of things we used to just enjoy for the sake of it? Or is this just the inevitable evolution of how the world works now?
