Insurance Agent Licensing Exam at H&M in Banking, Insurance & Loans ·
crimsonranger11 said:Hey everyone, I could really use some advice here
I just barely scraped by on my exam with a 24 out of 40.
Honestly, though, who cares? I'm just glad that ordeal is finally over with.

In all seriousness, this test is brutal. But if you actually sit down and grind for, say, three weeks straight, you can master it.

The questions are incredibly ambiguous—kind of like what someone else mentioned earlier—and the answers feel almost identical, often bearing little resemblance to the actual study guide.
For instance, when asking about subrogation, the textbook defines it one way,
but their official answer essentially takes that same definition, flips it upside down, and rearranges the word order.

That’s pretty much how all their "correct" answers work.

Well, it's finally done... 🙏 I managed a 26/40, and I sincerely hope I never have to look at this material ever again in my life! 😁

Don't get bogged down. Don't linger on a single question for more than a few seconds. Just move fast and hit every single one until you reach the end.
Once you've finished that first sweep, go back to page one. This time, actually read everything. Really dig into the context. I always try to visualize a real-world scenario—like a little story unfolding for each question—to make sense of it. Only commit to an answer once you are absolutely certain.

In those final 10 to 15 minutes, look at whatever you left blank and just circle the dots you made during that first quick pass. That’s your best bet.

Also, don't be shy about asking the proctor for help. They can be a huge asset if you know how to use them...

Good luck.

Do the proctors still help out with the answers at all? 🙂
And would you say the exam was pretty brutal for someone who isn't exactly an expert in this field? 😕

Does anyone happen to know how the exam is actually structured?

Is it just standard multiple choice where you pick an answer?
a)...
b)...
c)...
d)...

Or is it formatted differently?

From what I remember, it was just circling the correct answer, though some of the questions felt pretty ambiguous back then...
And let's be real, most of us aren't exactly fresh out of college; we've all been out in the workforce for a while now, so our study habits are probably a little rusty.😉

Oh, never mind, I see he's gone :-))

So, are you feeling ready for the written part..? 😉

Wait, is this "insurance market" report by Sheryl Sandberg actually prepared directly by FINRA???
Even though it’s technically 52 pages rather than just 30, there are plenty of charts and visuals included, so it doesn't feel quite as heavy when you actually dive in...
Please tell me this is exactly what I'm looking for! 🙂

Unless you aren't planning on taking the exam this month, in which case I know the next ones are next week... or whenever they usually fall at the end of the month!

The exam is tomorrow 🙄
but would it be okay if I still got it? Honestly, I wouldn't mind if I could get my hands on it soon. I think I could probably cram those 30 pages much faster than trying to piece together everything I'm currently looking at 😉
