Are homophobes just closeted? in Psychology ·
If you leave that out and just say one is irrational while the other is rational, I'm totally lost.

Well, that's way out of my lane!

Yeah, by that logic, it basically makes you a pig.

Perfect! I'm happy being a pig who writes. Better yet, a pig who uses the internet. Boom—just like that! 😛

Should you really believe someone actually has the time for all that, plus arguing over nonsense on a forum, and still find time for anything else?

Plenty of things! You know, women can basically multitask at least four things at once by default. While my lunch is simmering, I’m shaving my legs (staying feminine, get it?), polishing the oak dining table, finishing up some English homework, and so on... I'll have my hair in a clip and be ready to greet my man with a huge smile right when he gets home from the butcher and the construction site! 🤣 🤣

I honestly don't get how people can afford to obsess over homophobes or LGBTQ+ rights when millions of kids in Asia are working for pennies for massive corporations, or people in Africa are literally starving.

🙏

But hey, why don't you explain how you can afford that same luxury? 😁

Anyway, I see we've found ourselves a "latent" little buzzword here! :P

So, fears are actually justified or unjustified, rather than rational or irrational.
Just semantics, really.

Oh, obviously! I'm sure every doctor in the country was just sitting around waiting for us to fix their terminology on a random internet forum.

well, they're just closeted because they hate gay people, which makes them homophobes.

I don't like pork. Does that make me a pig? Not metaphorically—that's debatable. But literally?

it's all because of women who've become too masculine and lost their femininity—basically, they don't want to cook, clean, or iron anymore.

Right. Personally, I feel my most feminine when my hands smell like Clorox, my apron is covered in kale smoothie stains, and I've got a fresh burn from the iron on my forearm.

p.s. your boyfriend is gay.

Well, that's a bit awkward! I actually *do* cook, clean, and iron. And I'm definitely not running into the arms of the nerdy butcher next door whose wife, for the record, refuses to touch an iron.

William Gonzalez3 said:well, then you homosexuals must be crazier than they are.
I mean, they represent maybe a tiny fraction of the total population—and even that might be an overstatement.
You’re obsessing over some minuscule group that is smaller and arguably less significant to the overall population than you are, all while acting completely appalled by who they are.
Maybe I'm being a bit slow, but I truly don't see the logic in any of this.
By focusing on them like this, you're essentially giving them a level of importance they simply don't possess.
But hey, if it makes you feel better, go right ahead.

Smaller. Insignificant. Let's just fence off one part of town with barbed wire, then sit around judging them. We won't even bother discussing it because why bother? It's pointless. But sure, let's enjoy ourselves! And in our spare time, we can brainstorm even more repressive ways to prove we're the majority. In the total population, that is—not just in whatever niche you're living in.

William Gonzalez3 said:but is there such a thing as a rational fear?
😕
Since when?
And if a "rational fear" doesn't even exist, then why did you go out of your way to specify that homophobia is an irrational fear?

Also, just so we're clear—anyone who thinks being gay isn't perfectly fine is a homophobe, and honestly, they're just closeted homosexuals.
It’s not that they’re afraid of gay people out in the world; rather, they're terrified of the part of themselves they can't accept—if I can put it that way.
They simply aren't ready to admit to themselves that they are actually homosexual.
Every single one of them.
I'd say ninety percent of men are closeted,
and the other ten percent are openly gay.
Which leads me to wonder why women should even bother worrying about it—I mean, what kind of women are they if men are increasingly seeking refuge in each other's arms?

Man, where did I get this idea to start reminiscing about old college lectures on a Sunday?? Laziness is a sin, so let's dive in... fears, among other things, are split into rational and irrational. Rational fears have a logical basis: For instance, if someone is following you while you're walking along a dark trail near a park at 3 AM, and that person starts screaming and sprinting toward you—if you feel fear that they might attack you, that fear is rational and justified. Well, we could say that. Even though, obviously, it doesn't mean it *will* happen. That same person could just be a weirdo jogging through the park while yelling because it's their "thing." But, if you're walking that same path and hear footsteps behind you, and you automatically assume the owner of those feet is going to jump you and rob you blind, then your fear is irrational. It's irrational because it lacks a logical foundation. If it were logical, we'd all be taught that people walking in single file at night on trails are constantly attacking each other.
What I'm saying is, if I'm afraid that any homosexual person threatens my integrity, then that fear is irrational.

Yeah, sure, 90% of men are closeted homosexuals. I bet you know that because you surveyed every man on Earth and every single one of them told you they keep a toy in their nightstand. And I guess 90% of women are closeted homosexuals too, since 90% of them would probably say female bodies are beautiful.

And yeah, I am personally deeply concerned about that alarming 10% statistic. See, I date pretty much every guy I meet, and I take it very personally when they run off into a man's embrace. Gross, just gross, gross!

We’ve lost the plot a little bit here. We keep talking about gay people instead of focusing on homophobes. Can we get back on track? 🙂
Look, by definition, a homophobe is someone who carries an irrational fear of anyone with a homosexual orientation and—more importantly—actually acts on it. Like one young guy pointed out earlier, they'll all lose their minds trying to force themselves on us. We'd be walking down the street terrified, too scared to even bend over to tie our sneakers because they'd jump us immediately. Or, as another guy put it, they'd probably be aiming for something else entirely.
No! I wouldn't say that a certain segment of the population across the globe believing this lifestyle is improper or unnatural counts as homophobia. I mean, if we truly insist on democracy—and we do—then we have to allow people to hold their own opinions, no matter what they are. In other words, thinking "gay is not okay" isn't being a homophobe. Homophobia is when you bash someone's head in just because they're gay. That's just basic self-defense at that point.

We've seen the full spectrum of drama here—bruised egos, heated insults, name-calling, the occasional compliment, and everything in between.

Does anyone actually have the stomach (aside from the obvious thread starter😬) to dive back into that swamp?😕
But then again... you know how people are. They might just wake up and decide to stir the pot again after all this time.😉

I just wish someone could give me a clear explanation of the actual purpose of Pride.. without getting into whether being gay is fine or not!

Alright, since you put me on the spot 🙂

Personally, I don't think being gay is a choice (that's just my opinion, not an absolute fact!). But I do feel that how most gay people behave *is* their choice. I was reading an article by Mr. Manzin in the paper the other day, and he includes a ton of photos of people who are supposedly gay—I don't even know. My first reaction actually shocked me; I found myself trying to convince myself that I'm tolerant toward sexual minorities (Am I being politically correct now? 😁). Looking at it, all I could think was, this is like a Jerry Springer show.
So, I'm trying to say that being gay is fine. But flashing breasts in the middle of Flower Street and making out wildly from head to toe? That's not okay.
Secondly, nobody has actually explained the purpose of today's parade to me yet. What's the goal? To distract others from their own problems? In America, where people have to resort to Palachov methods just to be noticed—especially those in much worse situations—right, that's probably not it.
That's all I've got...

Yeah, nobody is. And why would they? It’s common knowledge that those piercings are basically a signal for being gay. And that purple mohawk—it’s not pink (which is what those wannabe gays go for), but it's not green either (that would be the vegans, probably). You just can't look at that stuff with any kind of goodwill, no way.
But what if it were three women with cleavage spilling out of their shirts? 😁
