Need some advice in Stocks ·
Thanks to everyone for the input. I’ve spent a significant amount of time analyzing metrics like P/S, P/E, and P/B ratios to hunt for undervalued gems, but honestly, it hasn't moved the needle much. The stocks I flagged as bargains either stayed flat or continued to slide before showing a tiny bit of life. I started this thread because I've realized that applying standard valuation models to this market is like trying to navigate a fog without a compass; your technical knowledge is useless if you don't have access to the right information sources 🙂 which, in my experience with certain tickers, turned out to be painfully true. I'm currently deep in the red.

Tracking this market is an absolute nightmare. It’s incredibly difficult to forecast anything with any certainty. We see stellar earnings reports coming out for certain companies where we already anticipated strong Visa performance. Logic dictates that after such positive news, stock prices should climb, yet instead, they drop by a few percentage points. In these moments, I feel like I can toss my PE, PS, and P/BV ratios straight into the trash because those metrics seem completely useless. I am genuinely stumped here—could someone please walk me through why this happens?

If you somehow found yourself with 🙂 $100,000 in cash and wanted to invest it, which market would you target? Would you look at the US, Mexico, Canada, Brazil, or somewhere else entirely? And more importantly, would your strategy be a quick sprint or a long-distance marathon?

That doesn't really apply to the NYSE.

from Durotar 🙂

Fine, then how exactly does it operate on the NYSE?

Does anyone "perhaps" happen to know how the process works after the closing bell at 4:00 PM? I am curious about the order processing systems and everything else involved. Is this procedure standardized across all global exchanges, or does every single one operate on its own unique algorithm?
My apologies if "black-out" isn't quite the right term to use here 🙂
Thanks for the help.
