Sudden spike in the last week or two in Stocks ·
Chris Chase5 said:We were all looking at a significant growth spurt coming in the first quarter of 2008. Toward the end of 2007, that momentum actually slowed down a bit, mostly because there was such massive room for expansion during what was supposed to be our final stretch before joining the USA. Honestly, though, unless you were one of those people sitting on inside information regarding just how intense that surge would be late last year and right at the start of this one, nobody could have really called it...

It’s all a bit excessive, really. Of course, I can't help but feel a little regretful that I didn't sink my capital into something like Starbucks, General Mills, or Time Warner instead... but seeing a stock jump 7% daily for four days straight just because of some news regarding Time Warner doesn't exactly strike me as normal behavior for a company that hasn't actually released any real updates...

Bread prices jumping by 10% in a single day? That feels excessive... honestly, it looks more like someone is trying to pump up the numbers right before a major fiscal year-end shift. To be fair, I’m mostly just annoyed at myself for missing the window to stock up when things were still reasonable...

If these kinds of spikes keep happening, where exactly are we going to land by the end of the year? Or, to put it more bluntly, is this period of stagnation—or what some might call "normalization"—going to be even more painful than what we dealt with last year...

Honestly, why are you even surprised? It’s just the way things work—like sheep needing to pee every few months, it's just part of the cycle.

Unless there's some groundbreaking new invention, a fresh product line, or actual signed contracts coming through the door, of course they're going to clear the path for the FedEx folks...

And naturally, there's money to be made off the whole thing... and plenty of ways to blow it, too...
