Look, there are plenty of ways an officer can defend themselves without resorting to physical strikes, but it seems like some American officers just don't have those de-escalation tactics down. That officer should have read the room and assessed the situation differently, but clearly, his judgment was flawed, and we're all seeing the tragic result of that mistake right now.
