A question from someone who clearly hasn't mastered basic finance?
For instance:
If I take out a $100 $0.00 secured loan at a local Chase branch over a 10-year term, I assume I’d end up paying back roughly $140 $0.00 by the end. But what happens if I don't actually want to carry that debt for the full decade? Do I just get my $100 $0.00 back, or is this whole credit concept just intentionally confusing?!? 😕

I’ve been dealing with this body rash for two or three years now, and I honestly can't pin down the trigger; it flares up briefly and then just settles back down...
Doctors suspected allergies, though nobody seemed particularly concerned about it 🙂
but at this point, it’s starting to get on my nerves.🙂
For me, it manifests as these tiny little bumps—basically classic hives—across my stomach, back, arms, and chest.
Just today, I had some apple juice concentrate, and I immediately reacted; I felt this heavy, stone-like sensation in my stomach, followed by a rash spreading across my chest, abdomen, and back.
I’ve been offline for quite some time due to issues with my T-Mobile service, otherwise, I would have reached out sooner. I am slowly finding my footing again; I finally picked up a shampoo and conditioner that don't trigger any reactions, and honestly, it feels great. I’ve also started logging everything I eat to track potential triggers. For instance, I recently grabbed a tea-flavored pâté from Whole Foods—which isn't usually my thing, as I generally avoid processed junk like that—and it didn't end particularly well. I ended up having to take some Fexofenadine that my doctor prescribed for emergencies. I truly hope this thread doesn't devolve into a lecture on "healthy eating"; rather, I hope we can use this space to actually support one another and talk through the physical pain these allergies cause us.
I didn't quite follow the logic in that one post regarding the liver, as the liver doesn't have a direct link to allergies. From what I understand, the liver's job is to process nutrients from our food, so while it might react to certain additives we ingest, the liver itself isn't responsible for things like anaphylaxis or respiratory distress—that is strictly a function of the immune system. At least, that is my understanding of the matter.🙂
Hello everyone
I’m starting this thread as a central hub for anyone dealing with any kind of allergy—be it respiratory or skin-related—so we can all exchange advice and find some mutual support. 🙂 😉
To give you some context on my own situation: I actually went in for allergy testing because I was under the impression I might be allergic to water, but the results turned out to be quite different. It turns out I have sensitivities to various preservatives, and my skin reacts poorly to both shampoo and body wash. Specifically, I'm allergic to these preservatives: benzoic acid (E210 - E219), salicylates, and Ah formaldehyde. This means I essentially need to overhaul my entire diet and lifestyle. When they handed me the results at the clinic, the instructions were blunt: just follow the guidelines. According to those papers, Ah formaldehyde is found in everything from beer and cheese to cosmetics, fish, spices, hair care products, meat, shellfish, mushrooms, salt substitutes, artificial sauces, salty sausages, snacks, instant soups, canned tomatoes, and tartar sauce.
Salicylates, meanwhile, show up in tea, honey, sauces, pepper, mint, cucumbers, tomatoes, corn, button mushrooms, blueberries, and a whole host of other fruits I won't bother listing here.
Then there's benzoic acid, which is lurking in toothpaste, medications, candies, chewing gum, and juices—and apparently, they're even considered carcinogenic.
Does anyone have any practical advice? Has anyone discovered skincare lines that are truly natural and free from all this chemical nonsense? Also, if you've dealt with similar findings, how did you go about changing your diet and lifestyle, and how are you actually coping with it all?
My thanks to everyone who contributes to this discussion. 😍
