Seeking support for suicidal thoughts

Defiance. Rebellion. It’s the only way out.
My cynical take: if someone wants to jump off a cliff, let them. If they don't see a reason to keep breathing, why should we pretend we have a say in their choices?
Then again, when I actually picture it, I think I’d try to stop them. Not out of some grand moral duty, but just so I wouldn't have to live with the crushing guilt later, wondering if maybe I should have stepped in.
I'm at a loss for words. Maybe you tell them, "Don't! There's someone out there who loves you and will be devastated by your death." But then again, maybe that's exactly what a person is aiming for—to weaponize someone else's conscience—so saying that might just push them over the edge. It's a heavy question.
