Is the "soul" of hobbies disappearing? in Hobbies & Leisure ·
I feel like everything we do nowadays is becoming too focused on rigid systems and "the right way" to do things, rather than just playing for the sake of it. We're losing that raw, individual spark that makes a passion actually fun. Does anyone else feel like modern coaching or training is killing the joy of learning a craft?

My dear friends...

I wanted to give you all a quick update on how my big day turned out.

To be perfectly honest—it was an absolute dream. Everything was just beyond perfect.😁😍

Castle Salo—everything there was top-notch.
The band—the Uber band—was even better; they really set the mood, and more importantly, their performance was flawless.
The photo -- second—I am extremely satisfied.
The flowers—simply lovely.

I don't have much time to sit and write a novel, so here are a few shots from the day.

Hey ladies,
does anyone happen to know where I can rent some kids' suits—specifically for a 6-year-old?🙏🙏🙏

I’ve been lurking on this forum forever, but I finally reached my breaking point and decided I actually need to join the conversation.
Basically, we’re pulling this whole wedding together at the absolute last minute because of some pretty happy news 🙂. We’ve only got three months left, and honestly, we’ve checked almost everything off the list except for finding a band and getting the dessert sorted out.
Does anyone know a killer live band in San Francisco?
Also, where can I go to order a cake? I have a very specific vision in mind, but I’d love to hear what you guys recommend before I dive in.

I am a bit late to the party here, but I see you are looking for bands... Whatever you do, stay far away from Tex-Mex!!!!

They are impossible to negotiate with—they just play whatever they feel like, which usually ends up being songs from twenty years ago!!!

Consider this a warm warning—do not do it!
Gerald Wells40 said:Hey guys, I need some serious help here if anyone can step up. I’m trying to dig up everything there is to know about the band "Vice and Wilma"—I mean, I want the full scoop... everything! Thanks in advance!!!
Just please, let God help me that they aren't those total losers.

Avoid them at all costs🙏 🙏 🙏

I actually attended one of their shows once—if you can even call it that. It was nothing more than a glorified playback session where they just hit play on a track and pretended to perform, while the female vocalist was basically just there for show. If you actually care about music, stay far away from them. Keep looking!

Finally, I’ll weigh in with my own take on the Castello salad over at Stafford!

First off, the food is just middle-of-the-road—for instance, the risotto was actually spot on, but the beef stew? Forget about it. That was mediocre at best. On the flip side, the service is great; they have plenty of staff and the drink selection is decent enough... Honestly, it seems like they've made a genuine effort to step up their game regarding customer service!

In the end, though, I don't regret ordering it one bit!!!

I actually booked that specific hall—you know, the one that’s sort of mid-sized! I’m heading there in two weeks for a party, so I'll be able to give you a firsthand account of how it really is.

Personally, I think 😍

Kyle Scott10 said:Does anyone happen to know if the Pink Panther group is any good when it comes to managing fries; and I suppose, does anyone have a contact for them?

From what I've heard, they're fantastic—and besides, a friend of mine was actually at a recent gig where they played, and she couldn't stop raving about how great they were! 👍

Listen, ladies—I went ahead and booked the Castle in K. Smith, and I have to say, the sheer elegance of that hall blew me away!😍

The reason I pulled the trigger? It’s stunning, plain and simple. Plus, lately, I’ve been hearing nothing but glowing reviews about the venue, the service, the food... Honestly, don't hold yourselves back. You should definitely go—just like I did, though I ended up missing out on my own date because of it.

👍

Regarding the makeup artist—there's a local favorite everyone uses—but if you actually bother to scroll back through the threads, you'll see her name mentioned quite often. Same goes for the band; there was a whole discussion about them just the other day.

As for the photographer, they have an excellent team—Zane and Patrick are the ones to look for—so if you track them down, you won't be disappointed!🙂

David King72 said:Michael Lee19 just a bunch of amateur garage bands, some local legends, a few neighborhood characters, and a whole lot of nobodies,

So, does this Dado guy happen to cover songs by The Beach Boys (specifically their classic hits)?

I'm actually planning to give them a call today—I found some recordings of their rehearsals online, and they actually sound pretty decent!

The Glass Lady is available, and she went through all the different packages and pricing with me. Now 🤷 I'm stuck—I honestly can't decide which option to go with.

They perform with Nero (the Nero x Band combo)! My dilemma is that I've never been much of a fan of female vocals... and hers just wasn't my style—she 😳 tends to belt things out a bit too much...

David King72 said:Michael Lee19 do you have any other heavy metal bands up your sleeve?
and honestly
I’m pretty sure I have some of those numbers saved somewhere, or maybe they're just buried in my old contacts—I'll have to check who exactly you ended up calling

I contacted: Oranž, Barbary, Taco Bell, and a few others whose names escape me at the moment... 🤷 just random people...

So, I stumbled upon Glass Dam and sent them an email—no one has gotten back to me yet😢 though they seem like a solid choice! I just have no idea what their pricing looks like.🤷 Does anyone here know?

...is there any other band you guys haven't mentioned yet? 😢

A Cure!!!

I need assistance! I can't find the number for Tip-top!!!🙏

I am about to lose my mind!

rapidmason10 said:When I gave them a ring, they quoted me around $11,000, or $4000 said they weren't totally sure yet... and that doesn't even include gas or travel...

And hey, I'm out in Savannah too, so they didn't charge me for travel... Tip-top is actually solid... and then there's that Taco Bell band from Charleston that goes for about $1,000... it's just the four of them... they bring their own drums, keys, and one guy handles both guitar and vocals plus a singer...

If you happen to have a contact number for Taco Bell, please send it over via PM!

rapidmason10 said:Did they mention if travel expenses are covered?😍

Clearly, I didn't mention that Orange Ma figure to you earlier.😁

Look, I am aware you wrote down $11,000 for next year—we can deal with that eventually—but please, let's be reasonable here! Since I mentioned I was coming from California, they might have factored in the travel costs as well.$333

And honestly, if you were to book two or three sessions, the price per unit would likely remain the same—after all, they end up with more work when there are fewer people available to take it!

😲
Ladies, listen up!!!!!!

Ugh, just so you know—the price for Orange next year is hitting $1,200!!!!😲I mean, seriously.

Honestly, instead of sitting around drinking coffee and "chatting" all day, we should just start our own band—then none of us would ever have to work again!🤣
