mistyraven272 said:I need the same thing, just gotta find a florist 🙂 I keep seeing people mention John Doe and Katie (at those local festivals), but I heard they’re way overpriced compared to other shops... does anyone have a ballpark idea of what the total would run? I need to decorate my hall, his place, and my house too, plus some reveries.

She gave me a quote for the bouquet and decor at $500..as for the boutonnieres, I'm having a girl handle those.

!
So, my godmother and I are heading out on a little scavenger hunt today to find them... 😂

Good luck!!! Let me know how it goes.😍

Raymond Brooks7 said:My go-to is definitely the John Doe flower shop over in Malibu... you really can't go wrong there. The woman running the place is incredible at what she does.

I'm with you on that! I'm going to use her too. She's great... she always comes through for me, no matter what I need.👍

Raymond Brooks7 said:pingulinka used them once... ask her if she'll share her password... then just look at her photos. Don't sweat it, everything will turn out fine.😍

Hmm... I guess I'm lucky I don't stress about this stuff too much. If it works out, it works out. 😂

Alexander Ruiz2 said:Marko Photography handled my shoot, and honestly, I wouldn't recommend them 🤣. A friend used Photo California, and she’d tell you to stay far away too 🤷... What about Ivica Matić?🤷

We actually put a deposit down yesterday at Photo Color over on Broadway. The shots look decent, even though I know everyone just picks the absolute best highlights for their albums...
I wrote off Marko Photography pretty quickly. As for Photo California, I've heard you book one crew only to have a totally different group show up on the day—and they aren't exactly cheap, either...
Matić and Lisjak were booked up, but whatever, it worked out fine. We'll see how the photos actually turn out.☕

that lady is top-tier—seriously, and her prices aren't even that bad

She did my makeup a couple of times before and she said she loved it... does anyone know how far in advance I need to book her?🤷

mistyraven272 said:So I was at a reception in that church recently and they were so slammed that it felt like they only give everyone like thirty minutes... basically, if you're late, you're screwed, and as soon as the ceremony ends, you gotta clear out immediately because the next wedding is already waiting outside. It felt kind of rushed and cheap to me, honestly. As for not living in San Diego, it shouldn't be a dealbreaker, you just have to go to your local parish where you're registered and ask for permission to marry at a different church. The priest will walk you through all the paperwork and whatever...

Yeah, she told me that too... they’d barely finished one service before the next group was already walking in...
Your best bet is just to figure out what to do when you leave...

Lotus, you see how things are going? Part of me actually wants to listen to you and wait until at least the eighth month. 🙂
Clearly, that’s not the smart move here...

🤷

Basically, just grab my Ford and head out to the coast 😂

Well, that really depends on which church you're looking at...
Where exactly were you planning on getting married anyway?

wiredbison98 said:Hey everyone, does anyone here have experience dealing with the priests over in San Diego (specifically at the Lady Liberty shrine)? I don't actually live in that part of town—I'm from a different neighborhood in San Diego—but I’m really hoping to hold my wedding ceremony there. Does being an out-of-area resident usually cause any friction or issues with the parish?
Also, how far in advance should I be looking to lock down a wedding date?

Honestly, if you want to marry there, just go for it. One girl showed up about six months ahead of time and the priest told her she was way too late... but she had some connections, so she pulled it off. Long story short: the sooner you act, the better.

Jerry Sanchez53 said:Perhaps you could try arriving earlier just to see how things look. When we arrived five months out, he suggested that since we were so early, we should really aim to come about a month before the big event.

We went to sign up eight months out, and the priest put my name down—just not for the groom I'm actually marrying. Then I head over to our priest yesterday to try and fix the date, and he tells me it’s no big deal, I just need to be "crossed off" from the eight-month mark. He starts searching and searching... but he can't find me anywhere. Turns out, this guy put us in last year's registry. I'd be thrilled if I actually brought the paperwork for the reception, but now? Who knows.😂
btw, has anyone dealt with Photo Color before?

David King72 said:It wasn't my mom who ordered it, actually; it was a close friend of mine who’s getting married next weekend, and if I had to guess, she probably dropped about $500 per person on this. I’ll take some photos for you next week and share my full impressions so you can see everything for yourself, but honestly, isn't it easier to just check the reviews left by other women on these forums who have used their services before?😍

Right you are, Mom... hahaha...😂
Keep in mind I had blonde hair back then.🤣
thanks

David King72 said:From what I understand, you shouldn't be handing over any deposits to those private caterers, though if you're looking at local florists, you might want to double-check that part yourself just to be safe—isn't it better to be certain? Honestly, that catering service is a total lifesaver; I actually used them just last week, and they showed up yesterday with a full list of exactly what we needed to provide in terms of food and drinks, while they handled every single other detail themselves. It takes so much weight off your shoulders when you don't have to micromanage every little thing, and quite frankly, I think it’s one of the best things people have ever come up with.

Wait, where did your mom end up using for catering? And what kind of prices are we talking about here!?😕🤷

amberpanther17 said:Karen Cruz2 - I see you're from California too! ;o) If things get stuck, I'll be sure to make some noise around town to get it sorted ;o)

We can't even nail down a date yet—it all depends on when they finally get everything settled on the ship.
All we know for sure is that it’s happening next year ;o) Honestly, my stomach is already doing flips just thinking about what's ahead... and I haven't even truly started prepping yet.
Oh boy, just thinking about it gives me butterflies!

Go for it... I'll be your emotional support system. 😂
And believe me, I know it isn't easy... I really do. How big are his contracts? That's probably your best bet for planning... because until you have an actual date, you're basically stuck. ☕
Everything you need for a California wedding in Weddings ·
Lotus and I actually had guys from Soho lined up. They made a great impression and everything... but because my partner works on merchant ships and deals with those shady contracts of his, we had to push our dates back. Now, unfortunately, they're booked up...
amberpanther17, I know exactly what you mean regarding the sailor life... we had everything set in stone, and now we're stuck rescheduling everything. Ugh!

I’m running into a serious issue with photographers. It feels like everyone I actually want to hire is booked solid. All I have left on my list are Photo California, Photo Mladen, and Photo Marko.
I’ve already heard the stories about California... but as for these other two? I haven't heard a peep. Does anyone actually have some real-world experience with them? Please tell me you've got something to share. Thanks.

So, that leaves us with exactly what you listed... plus those extra points I just threw in there.
I checked out that Photo Plus shop over on Marmont. My neighbor had used them before and she was actually pretty happy with the results.

Raymond Brooks7 said:How could I let this slip my mind? Karen Cruz2... you absolutely have to swing by and look for the son. He used to work alongside Lisjak and Matich. That’s the specific photography vibe you're after. If those were the guys you were looking for, he's your best bet.

Tied up at the moment...😂

Thanks. I'll probably swing by there after work today.🙏

Mark... he's fine. But if you go that route, make sure you ask for John (the photographer) and Patrick (the videographer). Any other combo I've seen just didn't get good reviews.

Mladen... honestly, no clue. Never crossed paths with them.

Have you looked into Soho Studios? Those guys are top-tier.

Or maybe Studio In?

🤷

Who exactly is booked up? Give us some names so we can actually give you a decent recommendation.

Studio In, Teklich, Matic, Lisjak...😕

I’m having a bit of a nightmare trying to book a photographer... everyone I’ve looked at is already booked up. The only ones left on my list are Photo California, Mladen Studios, and Marko Photography...
I’ve already heard things about the California group, but I know nothing about those other two. Has anyone here actually worked with them? Any intel would be great! thanks

any chance someone could DM me Antonia Guc's number? Also, what's the damage on the price?
