Is it actually worth hitting up Ikea or Rose for apartment decor and party supplies? Specifically looking for some killer sand, pebbles, little stones, and maybe some tillandsia. I think I read somewhere you can grab this stuff at Ada in San Francisco too, but honestly, I have no clue where the best deals are. Anyone got the scoop?🤷

Yeah, I checked it out too, but man, those prices are insane... thanks anyway, guys, but I actually managed to find a studio where you can just rent out a space instead.🙂

Alright, thanks 😉
I checked the strips on Ira and Nirsa and Rose too, but nothing... either they're way too pricey or I just can't find them, though I'd really love to grab some 🤷

Does anyone know where I can grab some lilac chair ribbons... maybe somewhere in Miami or the surrounding area?
One more thing... would it be worth getting shoes made at Iceberg? I read somewhere that the quality isn't even consistent between their two locations. Should I bother going?

I guess I haven't quite taken that next step yet... even though the days are just slipping by...😢

Does anyone happen to know what weddings are like at the Marriott? It’s a 5-star hotel, but I find myself wondering since I haven't heard any positive stories yet...😕
What are their banquet halls like? How is the food? And what about the pricing???

I would be so incredibly grateful for any information you might have!!! 👍
Thank you all so much!!

My future maid of honor was at a party at the lion recently, so I can pass on her thoughts... She said the hall is gorgeous and huge, but that's why the price tag is insane... obviously it depends on the menu, but they paid around $110 per person (that's what her relatives shelled out). They started with a buffet where there were some seafood bites (like an appetizer), then the servers brought out the main courses and all that fancy stuff... but that's really up to what you negotiate... overall, the price is 👎

Anonymous said:Should I go ahead and order the cakes and pastries?
How much stuff do you actually need for a crowd of 170? 😲

Everyone agreed to me without even mentioning dessert—is that because they don't offer sweets, or did they just assume I'd be baking everything myself? 🤷
But let's be real, there's no way they're doing it. 😬

For cakes, I’d suggest the Mississippi Delta... I'm thinking about using them too. I'm hosting about 200 people and they told me I'll probably need something like 10 cakes. 🤷 As for the pastries... all I know is most restaurants now demand store-bought goods with a receipt and a health certificate. Not sure if that applies to Mammoth yet, but honestly, in my experience, desserts are never included in the catering package... back in the day you could just bring your own homemade treats on your own dime, but then these new laws hit. Hope that helps. 😉

Zachary White9 said:What do I know about Ira? She grabbed coffee with me once and mentioned the reveries are exactly the same as they were a few years back when her sister was getting married—just those silly fabric roses, in a million different shades of pink, and nothing but roses 🤷

From what I know, you can only find those boutonnieres in Ira or at Rose's place over in the Dacia building in Mejas... I actually stopped by Rose's recently and they have everything from boutonnieres to full hall decor, but honestly, they didn't look cheap to me... you can grab ready-made ones from $2.00 and stuff like that... anyway, if anyone needs a gym rec, I booked this one guy who works out of his house; he's super busy, but man, he is way cheaper than any big-name gym. DM me if you want his info.

I seriously need some info right now if anyone knows...
is there some kind of engagement course starting today that lasts three days? 🤣

we finally dragged ourselves to the parish office this morning, but the course started last night 🙄
and by August when we're actually back home, apparently there aren't even any courses scheduled??? 😕
Look, I've got the calendar here with all the dates they hold them... specifically over at St. Peter's. Their next one is May 10th, and as for August, nothing until the 30th... hope that helps.😉

Jack Miller4 said:Could someone walk me through how an "open bar" actually works at these kinds of venues?
I’m struggling to see the logic behind opting for an open bar if the wine, beer, and sodas are already unlimited. I assume there might be some loophole where guests could bring their own hard liquor, right? 🤷
Also, from a logistical standpoint, how do the hosts even verify if the guests actually consumed as much as the venue claims they did?
My apologies if this question feels a bit out of place in this particular thread...

Don't even think about doing that... first off, everyone ends up hovering around the bar instead of being on the dance floor, especially the guys... and second, I know a guy who got charged almost as much for the drinks as the whole venue rental just because of how they count it... yeah, the beer and wine are free, but the spirits aren't... sure, you could bring your own bottle, but if you've got an open bar setup, people are gonna demand shots, and they'll drink yours and then the venue will hit you with a massive bill and you won't have any way to prove they didn't drink it all.

A friend of mine used a florist in unknown for her wedding—they didn't even do any of the hall decor—and I think she paid at least $833... but don't quote me on that... my memory is a little fuzzy on the details...

It still feels sketchy to me 😕...I'm still bracing myself for it to cost at least $1000 or even more...but man, I really hope I get a pleasant surprise instead😁

Ugh... honestly, I was expecting a way higher price tag after all that work... feeling a lot better now though... thanks guys 🙏

I need the same thing, just gotta find a florist 🙂 I keep seeing people mention John Doe and Katie (at those local festivals), but I heard they’re way overpriced compared to other shops... does anyone have a ballpark idea of what the total would run? I need to decorate my hall, his place, and my house too, plus some reveries.

wiredbison98 said:Hey everyone, does anyone here have experience dealing with the priests over in San Diego (specifically at the Lady Liberty shrine)? I don't actually live in that part of town—I'm from a different neighborhood in San Diego—but I’m really hoping to hold my wedding ceremony there. Does being an out-of-area resident usually cause any friction or issues with the parish?
Also, how far in advance should I be looking to lock down a wedding date?

So I was at a reception in that church recently and they were so slammed that it felt like they only give everyone like thirty minutes... basically, if you're late, you're screwed, and as soon as the ceremony ends, you gotta clear out immediately because the next wedding is already waiting outside. It felt kind of rushed and cheap to me, honestly. As for not living in San Diego, it shouldn't be a dealbreaker, you just have to go to your local parish where you're registered and ask for permission to marry at a different church. The priest will walk you through all the paperwork and whatever...

David King72 said:Well, you've knocked out the big stuff, so now it's time to focus on the flowers (honestly, I’d suggest booking those sooner rather than later) and then just breathe until November rolls around to handle the smaller details like the cake, drinks, and everything else.
Are you planning on hiring a caterer?

Oh man, I totally blanked on that... do florists require a deposit right away or do they just put you on the books? Still undecided on the catering... I'm leaning towards getting it, but maybe just for my place since my family won't deal with any of this crap.🙄

So, I finally pulled the trigger and went with Lisjak 😁 But I gotta ask you guys... I've already booked the venue, the DJ, the photographer, and the church, so now what? What's actually next on the list?? It feels like I'm way ahead of schedule since the wedding isn't until December
Help a girl out...

wiredbison98 said:Look, let's be real—that's a massive amount of money. At that price point, most of them are just sitting behind Photoshop anyway. Personally, I’m planning to book a photographer out of a small town near Austin; he charges about $650 because we're doing a split event, otherwise, it's usually $600.
With that deal, you get 10 DVDs to pass around to family, a huge main album filled with all his favorite shots (he doesn't even count how many photos go in, he just fills it),
plus two smaller albums for the parents, and he throws in all the unprinted digital files for free.

Yeah, sounds great and all... but honestly, Photoshop doesn't matter if the guy has zero talent and can't actually direct you. I just want something simple without all the crazy editing and stuff... Seems pricey to me too, but hey, you only get married once, right?😁 I still gotta sleep on it.🤷 And it's not Matthews, it's Lisjak.

Is $2,000 way too much for a photo and video combo? Keep in mind we asked for a bunch of add-ons and went with their top-tier package. What’s the typical going rate for this stuff? I don't wanna get ripped off, but honestly, I'm obsessed with this photographer 😢

Just realized I totally messed up what I wrote above... I'm actually looking for Garfield's number, so if anyone has it, please help a girl out. Or honestly, if it's not too much trouble, just send me a number for any band. If you have contact info for Adria, Barbara, Vice, or Vilma, just shoot me a DM... thanks.🙂

Alright, thanks... Oh, and one more thing, does anyone happen to have a number for Garfield's crew?

Not sure if this is even the right spot for this, but does anyone know where I can pick up some small glass bottles around San Francisco? Need them for some invitations. Also, if anyone has photos of that makeup look Anthony Guc did, hit me up in my DMs... thanks 🙂
