Everything you need for a California wedding in Weddings ·
Thanks so much for such an incredibly thorough post! 🙏
I just have one quick question: how much did you actually end up paying for the chair, considering you went through the trouble of switching up the menu? And what exactly was on it? Was it just the standard setup with the cold appetizer and the veal medallions, or did you tweak things even more than that? 😁

I mean, my price actually stayed exactly where it was, and honestly, if I’m being totally real about it, I actually ended up losing another dollar per person because of that milk supplement thing—so that’s like, what, $234 less in my pocket altogether? It’s just ridiculous.
I honestly just swapped things around a little bit, you know? I figured it might make more sense to serve the roast first, then move on to the beef stew and those medallions... I guess that's just how I saw it working out.

I guess I should probably start by saying that I don't usually go on these kinds of rants, but honestly, after seeing what’s being said, I just can't stay quiet anymore. It feels like everyone is just jumping to conclusions without actually looking at the facts, and frankly, it’s getting pretty exhausting to watch. I mean, maybe I'm being too intense about it, but there's just something about the way this whole situation is being handled that feels completely off to me, you know? It’s like we’re all just nodding along to whatever narrative is being pushed instead of asking the real questions. I don't know, maybe I'm just cynical, but I think we deserve a bit more transparency than what we've been getting lately. It’s frustrating, really.
I mean, honestly, I don’t even know where to start with this one, but here we go. I guess I just have to get this off my chest because it feels like everyone is just completely ignoring how ridiculous this whole situation is getting. It’s like, does nobody else see what’s happening right in front of them? Maybe I’m just being overly dramatic, or maybe I’m the only one actually paying attention, but it feels like we're all just sleepwalking through this. I don't know, it's just frustrating, you know? You try to make sense of things, you try to follow the logic, and then suddenly everything just shifts and becomes total nonsense again. I guess I'm just venting now, but seriously, it's exhausting trying to keep up when the goalposts keep moving every single day. kaže:
Does anyone have any good recommendations for makeup artists or hair stylists over in San Francisco? I'm looking for someone who actually knows what they're doing.
And even for the wedding cake...🙂
So, about that haircut... I think Tomislav Gelo is heading over to Studio Sandra at ST3, you know, the spot right behind the Kauri building.
So, about that makeup session with Anamarija Rupčić... honestly, I’ve actually got her number if you're interested, so I could probably just shoot you a DM with the details?
I was just thinking about that wedding cake from Zenit, and honestly, I’ve got some thoughts. It’s one of those things where you look at it and you just can't help but wonder if they actually put half the effort into the flavor as they did into the presentation, though I guess that's always the gamble when you're picking out something so massive for a big day. Maybe I'm being too harsh, but sometimes these high-end bakeries focus so much on the aesthetic that you end up with something that looks like a masterpiece but tastes like sweetened cardboard, you know? I mean, don't get me wrong, the design was stunning, but I can't help but feel like there's a fine line between "elegant" and "just trying too hard," and I'm still sitting here debating which side of that line this one fell on.

The Doris Day venue was incredible... the food, the service, everything was spot on. Every single guest kept telling me how much they loved the setup and the catering. Plus, parking was a breeze.
The Beatles were beyond amazing—you seriously can't go wrong with them. They brought their own light show and smoke machine; honestly, I’d get married all over again just to hear them play one more set.
Annie Leibovitz—I have to wait a month for the photos, and frankly, I'm pretty let down by the shot they used for the thank-you cards.🙂 🤣
Catering—Baković was absolutely perfect.
The local florist at the downtown market... huge thanks to Millie for the stunning bouquet and everything else.

Can someone please give me some actual details on Doris Day? I'm heading there this Saturday to talk business and I'm dying to know... How's the service? Was there enough food? What's the vibe of the room like? Can you hear the music from the other hall? Anything specific I should watch out for when signing the contract?

😍 😍

The Beatles 👍

The service was honestly amazing, and the manager at Dover is just such a pleasant guy to deal with—you can pretty much settle everything with him easily. The waiters were constantly circling the tables, always topping off drinks, and man, there was an absolute abundance of food. I mean, I didn't just want lamb; I asked for cold roast pork on the side too, which turned out to be a total hit, and since they were serving pot roast, I requested veal medallions in sauce as well. I know that's a bit unusual, but they pulled it all off! There was barely any risotto or pot roast left; they even packed some up for us to take home. You bring your own desserts, but they have to have a certificate (my top recommendation would be Smith Bakery; they are incredibly professional and actually suggest what would work best. I just gave them my guest count and let them handle everything, and the cakes and pies were delicious—the orange cake was my absolute favorite. Seriously, there were literally just crumbs left on the table; the cakes were almost entirely devoured, and people were taking the pastries home in those little plastic containers I grabbed). As for the setup at Dover, the hall decor is great. I only really needed to bring an arrangement for my own table, but I guess I was feeling a bit extra, so I ordered some balloon decorations too. They had white tablecloths, and I could pick the overlays—mine were lilac. The chairs had white covers with colored bows to match, mine were lilac, and we had silver candlesticks with candles. The band lit up the whole hall so well that some of the extra decor felt almost unnecessary, but it all looked so beautiful... I was beyond satisfied, and my guests kept telling me how perfect everything was... I'm not someone who goes for huge demands or complications; I basically just told everyone what I wanted for the reception, and without any hassle or pushing back, I got everything I asked for and then some... Honestly, it wasn't just my reception; everything was just perfect...😉 And you won't hear music from the other room because they have these lead partitions that are soundproofed... seriously, you can't hear a thing...
The venue at Dolis Lesnina was just... wow. Seriously, the food, the service, everything was absolutely spot on. I mean, I had guests constantly coming up to me saying how they’d give the catering and the whole setup a perfect 10 out of 10. Even the parking situation was a breeze, which is always such a relief.
As for the Kocka Band... oh my god, they were beyond incredible! You seriously cannot go wrong with them. They brought their own light show and that fog machine, which really leveled up the vibe. Honestly, I think I’d marry my husband all over again just to have them play one more set...
Now, about Marko Photography—well, I guess I'll see the actual photos in about a month, but I have to say, I am pretty disappointed with the shot we used for the thank-you cards. It just wasn't what I expected.🙂 🤣
The catering from Baković? Absolutely flawless. Everything was perfect.
And a huge shoutout to Keti Florist over at the local market... thank you so much to Miljenka for that stunning bouquet and for being so wonderful with everything else!

Christian Wilson81 said:I need some advice! I’m planning a big party for late October and I’m still stuck deciding on a photographer and a band. I’m looking at either Photo California or maybe just hiring Marko, and for music, I’m thinking about a local cover band. Does anyone have experience with these guys? I’d love to know what they’re actually like and what kind of budget I should set aside. Any good or bad stories would be a huge help... THANKS!

Yellow Cab Band.... honestly, they're so hyped up that I was really expecting a massive show 🙂 when I went to a gig a while back, but I gotta say, I wasn't exactly blown away 🤷... I'd probably give them a solid 3 out of 10!!
As for Mark, he'll be my choice too; I haven't seen any work from him that actually looked bad....😉
I've seen Photo Daily's stuff and they aren't bad at all, so if I wasn't already leaning toward Mark, they might have been in the running too....

So, I was hanging out in Aspen with Mike and ended up stumbling upon the most incredible wedding dress... honestly, I went in there with absolutely zero clue what I was looking for, but it was just the fourth one I tried on when—bam—it was love at first sight 👍.... They have such a massive selection, and Mike and his daughter are seriously so helpful and sweet, too... I am just totally obsessed! 😉
How much lead time do I actually need to give my makeup artist and hair stylist before the big day...😉

Can someone please slide me the numbers for some seriously talented makeup artists via DM? I’m looking for someone who actually knows what they're doing—someone whose work isn't going to completely melt off my face when the heat hits 105 degrees out there. I need that kind of staying power that survives even the most brutal, scorching summer weather.🙂 Well, just my luck—it’s starting to pour.🙂I mean, it’s honestly just something like a three-term Taft, I guess... if you really think about it.🙂........
Honestly, I don't even know why I bother bringing this up, because my friends' experiences with this whole mess aren't even worth mentioning. It’s just... it's nothing. Total nothingness.🙂.....

Thanks in advance...😉

Has any woman from Miami ordered cakes or pastries from Zenith or Viacom lately?

Well, a friend of mine used to order from Viacom... I mean, their pastries are seriously top-tier, and they even do delivery right to your door.😉

fadedpuma21 said:To my fellow members—I’ve been lurking on this forum for quite some time now, and honestly, it has been an absolute lifesaver. Right now, I am deep in the weeds trying to sort out photography and videography services. It seems Fox and Siniša Srdanović are already booked up for my date; and while everyone keeps telling me I need to find a solid crew for my California wedding, I’m completely lost, which has left me feeling pretty overwhelmed. I looked into Ivica matica, but frankly, his rates are astronomical—plus, he strikes me as being a bit full of himself. I’m still waiting to hear back from the guys over at Studio In and Nikola Smernić (Studio Papaja) before I make any moves.
I’ve been scouring various forums, but I haven't had much luck finding real feedback. Has anyone here actually worked with Foto Zumba (http://www.fotograf-vjencanja.com/)? Their online portfolio looks decent enough, but I’d much rather hear a firsthand account of what they’re actually like to work with.

Thanks in advance!!

A friend of my brother uses FOTO ZUMBA and oh my god, she iseeeeeeeee absolutely thrilled with them! I saw the shots and I gotta say, they are seriously stunning...
Ladies, I stumbled upon this incredible website and I just had to share it with you all: basically, there's this company out of Savannah that has an amazing selection of wedding invitations, thank-you notes, and all that stationery stuff. Honestly, I am totally obsessed with their invite and thank-you card options; prices start at just $3.66 and go up from there,
and get this—printing and envelopes are already included in that price!
I did a little bit of math to see what it would actually cost if I tried to DIY the whole invitation and thank-you set myself, and I gotta tell you, it’s probably not even worth the headache of doing it at home when you can get everything delivered right to your doorstep for nearly the same amount. Plus, everything was super easy to sort out over email since I reached out to them directly!

website: www.freehouse.biz,
if you're searching on Google: just type in "wedding supplies" and it should pop up among the results....... 🙂

Just wanted to drop a quick heads-up here...... you can actually reserve your spot at the morgue through next year until November 1st for $36, but once we hit 2011, they’re bumping it up to $38..... and I heard the price for the funeral home next year is already climbing to $42..... so, I guess it's pretty likely everything else is going to follow suit and get more expensive too.......

Thanks so much, ladies....
We’re looking at roughly 360 people, give or take a few........
As for the date, we were leaning towards August 6th or maybe August 13th, 2011. I’m asking now because I really want to make sure we book a nice, airy, spacious hall—somewhere where we won't be melting from the heat—and those dates just work best for us. Mostly because family is coming in from all over the country, so everyone is usually free during the summer........plus, honestly, our budget isn't quite ready for this until next year anyway....
If you happen to know of any other venues located somewhere along the route from the Industrial District through San Francisco and over toward Savannah....that can accommodate about that many guests............please hit me up via private message!
Also, I've been wondering, is it actually worth the hassle to DIY the invitations and the boutonniere kits? Like, is it a total waste of time?
And does anyone know the best spots to shop for everything, from the paper stock to the flowers and all that stuff..........
If you have any other advice at all, please share it.....thanks a million, and good luck to all the future brides out there! I hope everything turns out exactly how you envisioned it........😍😉🙂

How far in advance should we be looking to book a place like Dolis for a summer wedding? Like, are we talking 400 or 600 days out?
I was also wondering if Phoenix might work, but honestly, I'm not even sure if they have halls that fit the size we need...

thanks!😉
