...and all that, though I seriously doubt I took any during junior year (I couldn't find a dealer).☕
I used to ask my friends about these waves of strange sensations, especially right before falling into a deep sleep, because I experienced them myself as a young child. About 80 percent of them gave me positive responses: textures described as thick, gritty, then smooth, inexplicable surfaces, feelings of sinking, even momentary choking followed by pleasure... truly bizarre. At first, I kept quiet, fearing this was some sort of organic descent into psychosis or something equally grim. It haunted me until I eventually discovered research suggesting these could be BIRTH TRAUMAS, which makes perfect sense. Imagine the sheer terror for a newborn! You are floating in fluid, breathing through an umbilical cord, perhaps sleeping or just existing, when suddenly the walls begin to contract, closing in and pushing you through a narrow channel toward the light...

Every trauma carries a compulsive need to repeat itself; it persists until it is finally understood and resolved. If a trauma is too intense for the conscious ego to handle, the mind represses those memories into the unconscious, where they resurface only through dreams or physical sensations like these. Perhaps we still encounter these traumas today because we cannot logically explain them—at the moment of birth, the brain is essentially a blank slate, leaving nothing behind but raw, wordless sensations... I am quite curious to hear more thoughts on this. ☕
