So, I went in for an X-ray on my spine—everything else was handled by my primary care physician. Initially, she put me on a three-day course of injections combined with some pills. Things settled down for a little bit after that, but now the pain is back, and honestly, it feels worse than ever.
I’ve spent the entire day calling doctors all over the city, and the best anyone can offer is an appointment at the end of August.

I'm actually considering just heading straight to the ER tonight.
I do have a referral in hand, though—it specifies outpatient physical therapy.

They did X-rays on my hips and my spine. Any idea what kind of damage I should expect to see on the bill? Thanks.

Well, I ended up paying out of pocket for my spinal work myself $17.
Hey everyone.

So, here I am at 27 years old—which, honestly, feels far too young for this—dealing with such intense pain that I can barely function as a normal human being.

It all started pretty subtly back in April. At first, I thought I could just manage it with some over-the-counter pills or topical creams. There were stretches where things felt okay, but lately... well, things have taken a turn for the absolute worst. It’s become impossible to even stand still for two minutes without this agonizing pain hitting me; I’m basically living on painkillers at this point.

I went to see my primary care physician, and initially, she just prescribed some standard medication and suggested some B-complex vitamins. Since none of that did a single thing to help, she finally gave me a referral for a physiatrist and physical therapy.

The problem is, the earliest appointment I can get for an evaluation in Chicago is late August.
I’ve been bouncing from one clinic to another, but nobody seems able to squeeze me in any sooner. I feel like I'm going to lose my mind from the pain and the constant cycle of popping pills before then.

If anyone has any advice on how I might be able to expedite getting seen, I would really appreciate it.
Also, if I decide to go to a private physiatrist instead, would I still be able to use my insurance referral later on for therapy sessions somewhere else? It doesn't matter which doctor I see, really—I just need someone to prescribe a treatment plan that I can actually carry out at a facility in Chicago as soon as possible.

Any advice or information you can share would be incredibly helpful.
