There’s something about that specific sound—or the lack of sound—when a player goes down during a routine drill that just hits different. You're sitting there watching, thinking it's just a standard contact drill, and then suddenly the training staff is out there and the carts are being rolled out. It completely kills the vibe of the session.

I’ve been a fan for a long time, and I don't think I'll ever get used to that sudden shift in energy. One minute you're analyzing a route or a defensive scheme, and the next, everyone is just standing there in silence, wondering if we're about to lose a key piece of the roster for the whole season. It’s not just about the stats or the depth chart; it’s the human element of seeing someone get hurt in real-time.

It makes me wonder how much these guys actually have to mentally prepare for the possibility of a season-ending injury every time they step onto the grass. Does the "tough it out" culture actually make the recovery process harder in the long run?

Olivia Gomez2 said:Their menus are decent enough—the food itself tastes good—but I felt like there could have been more of it... the portions were a little on the small side, especially when it comes to the side dishes. As for the dessert menu, it wasn't my favorite, and honestly, the presentation wasn't exactly stunning either. That being said, the venue itself is really lovely, especially once they get the lighting just right...

Those cakes and desserts at the venue actually come from Grandma's Creek, so that complaint doesn't really hold water... but I guess you don't have to use them, so maybe the couple brought their own.. Because honestly, the stuff from Grandma's Creek is killer! As for the portion sizes, yeah, I've heard that too... now I'm getting worried... :-(

Smith is basically like a Snowball—everyone knows what that means! Everyone's bought one at a convenience store at least once... :-)

Jesse Morgan73 said:Does anyone happen to have a contact number for Studio 69 over in Vinkovci? They handle photography and video work, and I’m in a bit of a rush to get a hold of them... thanks a lot.

It's the same crew. One guy is from Indianapolis, the other's from Memphis, but they run the studio out of Memphis. Did you even ask what their rates are??

The wedding is in October, right? June and July were totally booked up, weren't they??
So, did you end up deciding on Zelenkrov? Hehe

It would be so cute if I could find some sparkly ones or maybe something in a fun color, if you guys have any leads on where to look or what they cost🙂
lady dee—I actually grabbed that same cardstock from Staples, so we're using the exact same stuff 😉
What kind of envelopes did you end up getting? Just the standard ones, or did you go with something more specialty 😍

Ugh, same here, I need envelope info too!! Where do you guys shop??
And for those of you who DIY'ed your invites, did you print them or write them out by hand??? Hey girl

The girls from Warsaw are amazing, their arrangements are top tier!!! THANKS!!!

I don't even know where to start with this... just absolute nonsense. Total garbage. Honestly, if you believe that, you're beyond help. Just stop. kaže:
I don't get why you're getting all worked up...
Thank God we’ve got folks coming in from the Midwest... gives us a real feel for how things work out there. And hey, luck's on our side, we're always back in the Midwest anyway...

And you're talking to me about opportunities here and there... my mom worked her whole life just to scrape by... $633 Wages over the last 15 years? Total joke. And now we don't even have that much in retirement...
Look, please don't even go there. And don't you dare try to lecture me about how much better the standard of living is in Washington, D.C. Sure, maybe you pull a slightly bigger paycheck, but then the tax man hits you harder, the car costs more, and the utility bills are absolutely insane. You can't find prices like that anywhere else in the US. Everything—from your groceries to your meat—you have to buy everything outright. I actually sat down and crunched the numbers to see what life would cost in the Midwest versus somewhere like California or Washington, D.C. Honestly? I’d much rather live out in the sticks on a tiny salary than deal with those massive costs in D.C. And weddings? You’re paying for them regardless. Yeah, sure, there are spots in D.C. where you can grab a table for $60, but that’s just ridiculous. We kept our budget around $45 per person and found plenty of halls and restaurants. But man, every single venue has these stupid extra fees... charging for linens, charging for "service," charging for the waiters after midnight, charging you to slice your own cake or serve your own desserts. Then there's the parking, the tip, full price for the kids' meals, the electricity, the water... not to mention those shady places that hike up their prices a week before the big day. Honestly, if that hall you picked isn't falling apart, has decent wine, plenty of parking, clean linens, and most importantly, great food... then yeah, you got a steal...

I wasn't even mad, I just said you can't compare them! Every single city has people struggling on low wages, everywhere... But you definitely can't compare the cost of living in the Midwest to what it's like in Washington, D.C.! Electricity and gas prices are the same regardless, taxes are the same, sure utility bills might be higher in some spots, but the paychecks are bigger too... so... Anyway, this isn't even what we're here to talk about. We're supposed to be helping each other out for OUR big day!!! So let's just drop it...
Yeah, John Doe is a killer venue, seriously stunning. I was just saying it’s pretty pricey and they don't really cover everything...

Nathan Cox25 said:People usually bring their own hard liquor anyway—it sits on a side table and guests help themselves whenever. That's standard practice all over the US, not just at your place.
$3.25Maybe the chair cover fee seems steep to you, but they cost $2.25 elsewhere, and in a city like NYC, you can't find anything under $3.25.
Lamb and suckling pig run anywhere from $3 to $5 in the city, same goes for cake.
$28 + $3 + $10 isn't bad at all if the food is top-tier and you get a place to sleep. Any New Yorker would tell you that sounds like a solid deal. 😁

Zackie, it's honestly stupid (don't even know what else to call it) trying to compare prices in D.C. to the Midwest... we know what your cost of living is like, but I'm not sure you get ours.. Just check the price of coffee in D.C. versus Indianapolis, let alone Memphis or Napa, or look at what an average clerk makes in the Midwest versus what they make in D.C.... Maybe then you'll realize there's no comparison!

quietbear13, was Kara super expensive???

Bridezilla Z., how much do they charge for flowers? Are they crazy expensive??

Jesse Morgan73 said:I wonder if there's any way to negotiate with them—like, instead of the brandy, could they provide something else? My grandparents produce about 400 liters of homemade brandy a year, so it feels a bit silly to pay for it here when they'll just be handing it over anyway...
And regarding those chair covers $3.25? I feel like that's a bit much and you could probably find a cheaper option, assuming they'd even allow me to rent them from somewhere else. If necessary, someone from my family could just come and put them on themselves 🙂. I'm also not entirely sure how the whole cover situation works, but I was actually looking for those heavy, wipeable ones for the chairs. Do they have those, or just the standard white covers? Maybe I'm being a bit tedious, but I don't know what to do when every little detail matters to me 😛.

Yeah, it's pricey for me too $3.25 since you get the cushions in either white or champagne, nothing else. And they won't let you rent covers from outside because apparently they had bad experiences before (I found a place renting them for $2.25, which adds up fast if you have a lot of chairs)! It's basically pure untaxed profit for them! :-))
I loved this venue so much I tried everything to cut costs, but the owner was super stubborn... so I gave up :-((

You can bring your own booze, and they'll just knock $6.75 off the total for every liter consumed! So if 30 liters of moonshine gets drunk, they take
30l *$6.75 off the bill! Sounds like a headache to calculate later, but whatever...
You can bring wine too, then they'll deduct $5.00 per liter used... Hope that helps...

Jesse Morgan73 said:Thanks so much for all the info; you really helped me out there. I’m actually out of the country right now, but I’m planning to head back to the States in June. I just hope that won't be too late to get a venue booked. We have a rough date in mind, though honestly, whether it ends up being a week earlier or later doesn't matter much to me. My main priority is securing the specific hall, the band, and the photographer I want—everything else is secondary and can be figured out down the road. I attended a few weddings last year over in a small town in the Midwest, and I have to say, everyone was incredibly polite. The service was phenomenal, and the food was just as good—really, hats off to them. Regarding what exactly is included in the catering, I think I read somewhere that they provide soda, sparkling water, and maybe some Zeste Jeger and Stock? I'm not entirely sure if wine was part of it either... I honestly haven't the slightest clue how much of that is actually true.

For the hard stuff, you get Stock, Pelin, brandy, and berry vodka. There's no plain vodka and definitely no Jeger :(((((( ! Wine is included—Frankovka and Graševina. Honestly, they should've offered better wines given the price tag. They include all the sodas in original 1L bottles, which is great because you don't end up with watered-down Coke. Plus mineral water and coffee after dinner are included too!

To be honest, it feels way too expensive for me. I wanted lamb for the first night, but they don't include that in the $28 price point, so I'd have to pay extra for the Jeger too...
And they charge $3.25 per chair for the covers....
The venue is gorgeous, the food is great, and the service is solid, but man, it's just overpriced for today's economy...

You're basically paying for the chandeliers because they're paying off a massive loan on them! :-))

John Ramirez10 said:I've got some firsthand info regarding the Grand Ballroom since I'm having my wedding there on September 4th. here's the deal:😛the first dinner is $30 per person, plus a second course which adds another $20, so it's basically $50 per person total, and that includes all the drinks—nothing extra. the couple gets their room for free as a gift, and guest rooms are cheaper than usual, though I'm not entirely sure, I think $100 doubles are $83 and singles are $1667, and breakfast is included too, if I remember correctly! the deposit is 🙂. hope that helps!!🙂p.s. if you have a specific date in mind, I'd suggest booking ASAP because they fill up fast! I booked last March for this coming September. also, the hall fits 350 people. if you have more questions, just ask!🙂 🙂

The second course is an extra $2, which means $5.00 if you bring your own roast. But even then, you gotta pay because they won't let you bring meat without a receipt. Otherwise, the second course is just their stew for $10 (they don't do cabbage rolls in the summer because they "don't have cabbage"—which is freaking pathetic!!!!! There's always cabbage available!!)

Rooms are $200 for singles and $350 for doubles. They don't give any bulk discounts and there are only 19 rooms total!!!

Yeah, Leon production costs jumped up. Was 10k last year, now it's 12k!
It's actually 15,500 if you include the light package... not just 15k.
I've got him booked for a year too. Hey, Lady Dea, are you getting married this year?? Didn't you put a deposit down on Leon last time??

... - Noah!
The shots look perfect—totally original and high quality, plus the video is killer!
But man, that 12 $0.00 is way too pricey, and if you're doing 3500 light with them...
Quality isn't cheap, though! :-)
If you ask me, the only real competition is Maya P. and her crew, or maybe Six Nina studio out in Viknovac!
Good luck

You totally missed my point! I said they hiked the prices FOR $667, not ON $667! Those packages that were 4000 last year are sitting at 5000 now. And my photographer who used to be
10,000 is charging 12 $0.00 now!!! It's freaking insane...
Everything you need for a Midwest wedding in Weddings ·
Man, everything is just getting so damn expensive!! High-end photographers are charging like $667 now! And wedding bands? You're looking at $100-$300 bucks easy... don't even get me started!!
The price hikes are absolutely insane!!! I’ve been saying all this time that if I actually knew it was gonna cost this much, I would've just gotten married way sooner. Would've saved a fortune!!!

Here goes another wedding planner jumping into the fray! :-)
This forum has been a massive help with getting things sorted, even though I’ve still got plenty of time before the big day next spring!

Could someone please send me Jane M.'s number? She does makeup!
Thanks a bunch!
