Everything you need for a Midwest wedding in Weddings ·
Just figured I'd toss in a few details here in case anyone actually finds this useful. The wedding was held out near Indianapolis, and here’s the breakdown:
The dress - 1luckybride - ordered online
Venue - local community center
Music - Sound Band, paid cash; these guys were top-tier. They played for ten minutes, then didn't stop until 4 AM—honestly the best part. (They even got offers for three more hours during the reception, so you know they killed it)
Flowers - Palm Florist in Columbus - everything went according to plan, except they agreed on $2.75 for the chair covers but charged us 15, and a 7-dollar bouquet ended up costing $133. Those are my two big gripes
Photographer - Krizmanic Family Video from Indianapolis - absolute perfection, couldn't recommend them enough
Hair & Makeup - Beloderm and Magis in Columbus; Gabrijela did my hair instead of Zdravko, and I was beyond happy with the result
Drinks - We bought most of the booze ourselves ahead of time, then just grabbed the rest and some backups from the caterer
That's the main stuff. If you need any specific details, feel free to shoot me a DM

velvetcanyon4 said:Hey ladies, dropping in here super fast because I need some intel ASAP—don't have time to scroll through all these pages... Which liquor store in Memphis has the best prices on beer?

velvetcanyon4, my advice: just head straight to the big discount stores and ask them. That’s how you’ll get the real deal—grab price lists from three or four places, decide, and call it a day. We picked ours up in Memphis, so I can't be more specific than that.

Ideally someone who does house calls, but I’m not super picky! (Seriously, if I have to ask this one more time, I'm gonna lose it! image I feel like I'm asking everywhere and getting absolutely zero replies 😢

My bad regarding that sniper shot, looks pretty terrible and isn't even close to what I had in mind. Just having a rough day...

Thanks so much, I remember seeing people mention her and some girl named Elena before, but I didn't have their info. This was exactly what I needed to finally see their work and photos! thanks a ton

We’re just gonna grab everything at Walmart; they have locations in both St. Louis and the surrounding areas. The move is to place an order, drop half the cash upfront, and then settle the rest after you return whatever drinks weren't touched. I think you usually have to put down at least a deposit, but honestly, in times like these, most places are willing to haggle if you ask nicely. The only thing is their overpriced bitters and unflavored sodas are a total rip-off, so we’ll just pick those up ourselves and only get a small amount from them as backup. Hopefully, that helps you out a bit.🙂

Robin Chase7 said:I was wondering if anyone could point me toward a good beverage distributor out in the Midwest? Ideally, I’m looking for someone who wouldn't mind us settling up the tab after the wedding is over, and it’s super important to me that we can return any leftover drinks we don't end up using!

Which city?

Daniel Barrett5 said:Hey everyone, first time posting here and I am seriously freaking out! I’m not from a big city myself, but my boyfriend is, so I'm a bit lost. I still have some breathing room since we’re looking at a summer wedding next year, but I have zero clue where to even start because I don't know the area... specifically looking for the inside scoop on planning a wedding in Des Moines. So, ladies, please help me out!! 🙏

Hey Daniel Barrett5! First off, let's talk about wedding venues. You can find tons of them, and most can handle a massive crowd—I mean, you know how it goes in the Midwest, weddings with 300 people are basically tiny. 🤣So, you've got names like Karamarko, Mima, Nikolina, and May Perić. Then there are the lesser-known ones—Budimir, Pralas, maybe even the Blaža Hotel. I can probably think of a few more, but those were the first ones that popped into my head.
Anyway, you can find plenty of bands and music options through those wedding links, or just go ahead and search on YouTube. http://www.freehouse.biz/I’d recommend Vox without a second thought—they play absolutely everything from folk to rock. Personally, I go with GS Sound out of the Des Moines area.
If you need invitations or any kind of decor, just hit up Staples. I've got more info on this, but I'm slammed right now—I'll post it later.

neonridge38 said:Justin Sullivan2, everyone gets those artificial eyelashes done at that salon, I think it’s called Renata... you know, the one right by where you go to see Plodin on the corner. At least, that's what I heard, though I have no idea what they charge. Brandon Richardson6, where was that again, was it in Indianapolis?

yeah, in Indianapolis

yvek, I can only really help you out with the decor and the boutonnieres. There’s a shop right across from the Library on the hourly; they carry everything live for decorations and have ready-made boutonnieres, plus they can custom-make whatever you've got in mind... most of my friends just used Palm Florist for their stuff, but I'm not sure about mimosa. Hope that helps even a little bit 🙂

Look, based on my own pregnancy and labor experience, I wouldn't trust a makeup artist who says their timing is "somewhere around then." Everything is totally unpredictable... plus, does anyone have recommendations for decent makeup artists in Columbus? Like, where are they good, and what brands do they actually use? Because if someone tries to charge me professional rates just to slap some drugstore stuff on me, I might as well just do it myself.

Hey, does anyone have any leads on where I can pick up some weed around St. Louis? Looking for some info on the best spots or maybe somewhere with decent prices... thanks in advance!
btw, this forum has been a lifesaver since I'm staying in Miami right now while we plan this huge wedding out in the Midwest. Having all this info makes everything way easier to figure out 🙂

Harold Hayes9 said:Hey everyone, does anyone have any intel on the Libertarian Party group out of Savannah? We just put down a deposit!

Thanks in advance 🙂

Nothing but good things to say about those guys—they’re killer and can play just about anything (honestly, they blew me away when they did a Billy Joel cover, though I guess that’s just my thing),

here, hope this helps
