There is nothing that kills the momentum of a big event quite like seeing the lineup change at the eleventh hour. I was looking at the schedule for the upcoming weekend, and it’s honestly frustrating how often these things fall apart right before the cameras start rolling.

It feels like every time a major promotion announces a massive card, there’s always that lingering anxiety. You start rooting for certain matchups, getting hyped for the stylistic clashes, and then suddenly—boom—the card is gutted. It’s a huge bummer for the fans who spent money on tickets or PPVs, not to mention the fighters who were clearly ready to go.

I honestly wonder if the matchmaking process is becoming too fragile. We've seen it happen so many times lately where the "main event" energy just evaporates because the undercard looks totally different than what was promised on the posters.

Do you guys think these last-minute shifts are becoming the new normal for combat sports, or is it just a run of bad luck?

In case I wasn't crystal clear before
My GPU is totally toasted... and I don't mean it's acting up, I mean it is straight-up dead as a doornail!
I have absolutely no clue what happened because it was running like a dream just a second ago, but then boom, it just crapped out on me
So, this RX570 I'm looking at for my next build is actually a pretty solid choice for a budget rig, provided I don't run into any power supply headaches and you guys agree that it's about as much bang for my buck as I can get right now, so if we're on the same page, then we've got a plan!
Thanks a ton for all the help, everyone
I'm heading out to grab parts tomorrow, so if anyone has some last-minute wisdom or tips to throw my way, now is the time to speak up!

analogtiger19 said:Man, you gotta tell me exactly which R9 200 model you're rocking, like is it a 270, 280, or a 290? Because honestly, if it's anything other than a 270, I'm really questioning if swapping it out for a 1060 3gb or an RX 570 is even worth the hassle...

It's a 290
The Asus Radeon R9 290 Direct ii OC 4 is what I've got—specifically the Asus Radeon R9 290 Direct ii OC 4GB Graphic Card - R9290-DC2OC-4GD5

Oh, and hey, I'm totally down for a used card in a trade, as long as my power supply can actually handle it!
If I'm reading the specs right, it needs a 6+ 8 pin connector
I just have this feeling that dropping $300 just because a card is brand new wouldn't be much of an upgrade, you know? It feels like a total downgrade for that kind of cash

Seriously though, someone please find me something I can just plug in and start playing immediately because my kid is driving me absolutely insane (especially with all those Ferries and stuff...)

Hey everyone!
I know, I know, it’s probably not the best timing to be swapping out a GPU, but mine is basically on its deathbed so... what else can I do? haha
My current setup has been getting pretty boring lately
Operating system Windows 7 home
CPU AMD FX-8300 Vishera 32
RAM 8,00GB Dual-Channel DDR3 @ 937MHz (10-11-10-30)
Motherboard Gigabyte Technology . 970A-DS3P (CPU 1)
Graphics ATI AMD Radeon R9 200 Series
Storage 931GB TOSHIBA DT01ACA100 SATA Disk Device (SATA )
223GB OCZ-ARC1 00 SATA Disk Device (SATA (SSD))
Optical Drives HL-DT-ST DVDRAM GH24NSC0 SATA CdRom Device
Power supply 550W
I really don't want to touch anything else besides the graphics card unless I absolutely have to
Budget-wise, I'm looking at maybe $200 max
I'll check out Best Buy or just grab something online if the deal is actually good
If you guys need any more details from me, just holler!
Thanks a bunch, people!

Grab those drivers for Windows 7 64-bit (version 15.201) right here. Just a heads up though—if your Windows 7 isn't fully up to date, you're gonna want to download and install those two specific updates mentioned (KB 3033929 and KB 3035131) before you even touch the driver installation.
It’s totally possible you might run into a black screen once everything boots up (you'll still see the BIOS-POST, so don't panic), especially if your monitor can't handle whatever resolution is currently set.
If that happens, just hop into Safe Mode and try switching it to a lower resolution that actually works for your setup.

I already gave that a shot ---and honestly, nothing changed
My Windows is totally up to date and the graphics card is the same deal too
As for the resolution—man, I tried changing everything while in Safe Mode, but I keep getting that same old black screen every single time
The computer basically only functions if I go in and "disable" the graphics card entirely
So, I was just messing around with CPU-Z and I decided to pull up my current specs for you guys because why not, right?! Here is exactly what I'm running on this machine!
So, I was just sitting here thinking about the whole Operating System situation, and honestly, it’s such a wild ride, right?! Like, you think you have everything figured out, you’ve got your setup dialed in, and then suddenly you're staring at a loading screen wondering if your entire digital life is about to go sideways! It's actually kind of crazy how much we rely on these layers of software just to make sense of the hardware under the hood, isn't it? Anyway, I'm just rambling now, but man, when things work, they work beautifully, and when they don't... well, let's just say grab a large coffee and settle in for a long night!
So I was just messing around with my setup and thinking about that classic Windows 7 Home 64-bit SP1 vibe! Honestly, there’s just something about it that hits different, you know? It’s like that perfect sweet spot where everything just works without all the extra bloat you see nowadays!
So, I was just sitting here thinking about my setup and honestly, man, if you aren't looking at your CPU right now, what are you even doing with your life?! It’s like the absolute heartbeat of everything, the soul in the machine, you know what I mean? I was messing around with some stuff on my rig earlier—just totally lost in the zone—and it hit me how much we take for these processors for granted! You've got people out there worrying about tiny little things when the central processing unit is basically the king of the castle, and if that thing isn't humming along perfectly, the whole vibe is just totally ruined! Seriously, it's the most important part, hands down, and I will fight anyone who tries to tell me otherwise because once you get that core power dialed in, everything else just falls into place like magic!
So, I was just sitting here thinking about that Intel Core i7, you know, and man, it really gets me fired up! It’s one of those pieces of tech that just hits different when you're actually getting things done on your rig!
So, I was just sitting here thinking about that whole Vishera 32nm era, and man, it really takes me back! You know, looking at those old specs, it’s kind of wild how much things have changed since we were all obsessing over every single transistor, but honestly, there was something so incredibly satisfying about that specific jump in tech, wasn't there? It felt like we were finally hitting this sweet spot where performance actually started feeling snappy instead of just being a constant struggle against lag, and I swear, even when you're running something as old-school as Windows 7 Home, those chips still have this certain charm that modern stuff just can't replicate! I mean, don't get me wrong, today's hardware is absolutely insane, but there was a soul to those older builds, a sense of "hey, I can actually play this game if I tweak a few settings," which made the whole PC building hobby feel like such an adventure, you know what I mean? Anyway, I was just rambling, but I couldn't help but get excited thinking about how far we've come from those days!
So, I was just sitting here thinking about RAM, and honestly, you guys have no idea how much of a game-changer it is when you actually get the right amount under the hood! It’s like, people always try to cut corners on memory, thinking they can just squeeze by with whatever's left over from their last build, but man, that is such a huge mistake if you want your system to actually breathe! You really need that extra headroom, especially when you've got a million Chrome tabs open—which, let's be real, is basically all of us—and you're trying to run some heavy software in the background without everything just grinding to a screeching halt! It’s absolutely vital, seriously, don't even get me started on how much smoother everything feels once you finally upgrade!
I'm rocking 8.00GB of dual-channel DDR3 running at 937MHz with timings set to 10-11-10-30!
So, I was just sitting here thinking about motherboards, right? Like, seriously, if you think about it, the motherboard is basically the beating heart and the central nervous system of your entire rig all rolled into one big, beautiful circuit board! It’s like the foundation of a house—if your foundation is shaky, it doesn't matter how fancy your granite countertops are, the whole thing is eventually gonna tilt, you know what I mean? You can have the most insane, top-of-the-line GPU you can dream of, but if you're plugging it into a cheap, bottom-tier board that can't handle the power delivery, you're basically trying to run a Ferrari engine inside a lawnmower! It's wild how much people overlook this part when they're out there chasing specs, but honestly, you gotta respect the backbone of the PC!
So, I was just messing around with my ASUS 970A-DS3P setup—you know, that one where I've got the Intel Core i7 running things—and honestly, I'm just feeling so pumped about how everything is holding up! It’s such a solid little board, really, and even though I'm constantly tinkering and going down these wild rabbit holes with my hardware, this specific build just feels right, you know? Like, it's just humming along perfectly!
So, I was just sitting here thinking about my setup and honestly, I really need to talk about graphics because it's such a massive part of the whole experience, you know? Like, you can have the fastest processor in the world, but if your graphics card is absolute garbage, you're basically playing a slideshow instead of an actual game! It’s just not worth it, man. I was looking at some old parts the other day and thinking about how much things have changed since we were all rocking those older NVIDIA GeForce GTX series cards back in the day, and wow, the jump in performance is just insane! It’s like moving from a grainy black-and-white TV straight into a high-def IMAX theater or something. Anyway, I'm just rambling now, but seriously, don't cheap out on your graphics if you actually want to enjoy your downtime!
So, I was just sitting here staring at my standard monitor—you know, the usual 1080p setup running at a whopping 1Hz—and I honestly started wondering if anyone else feels like they're living in a slideshow sometimes! It’s just one of those things where you're looking at the screen and thinking, "Man, life moves fast, but this refresh rate is definitely taking its sweet time!" It’s such a wild thought when you really dwell on it, but anyway, I'm just vibing with my setup today!
So, I was just sitting here thinking about storage—like, seriously, how much space do we actually need these days? It’s wild! You look at your drives and suddenly you're out of room because everything from high-res photos to those massive game installs just eats up space like crazy, right? Honestly, I feel like we’re all constantly playing this endless game of Tetris with our hard drives, trying to shuffle files around just to make room for one more thing, and it’s honestly kind of a blast if you don't think about it too hard! But man, when you realize you've got nothing left, it's a total trip!
So I was just looking at this 931GB Toshiba SATA drive sitting there, and honestly, it’s such a classic little workhorse, you know? It's just one of those reliable pieces of hardware that gets the job done without making a huge fuss about it!
So I was just digging through my old hardware stash and I stumbled upon this 223GB OCZ-ARC1 00 SATA SSD, which honestly feels like a total relic from a different era, you know? It’s one of those solid state drives that really reminds you how far we've come since the early days of flash storage becoming a thing! Even though it's a bit of a vintage piece now, there's still something so satisfying about seeing these older SATA drives sitting there ready to be put to work, even if they aren't exactly cutting-edge speed demons by today's massive standards!
So, I was just sitting here thinking about how much things have changed, like, seriously, does anyone else miss the days when you could just pop a disc into your computer and actually *do* something? I’m talking about optical drives, people! You know, those little trays that used to slide out of your PC tower like they were offering you a tiny snack, and honestly, there was something so satisfying about that little mechanical click, wasn't there? Now everything is just cloud this and streaming that, and don't get me started on how much bandwidth you need just to watch one movie without it buffering like crazy, it's absolutely wild! Back then, you had your collection right there, physical, tangible, and if you wanted to listen to an album, you just hit play—no waiting for a massive download from some server halfway across the country, just pure, unadulterated speed! I feel like we've traded away so much convenience for this illusion of "digital freedom," and I'm not totally sold on the trade-off because sometimes you just want to own your media, you know what I mean? It’s like having a library in your house versus having to ask permission from a giant corporation every single time you want to read a book! Anyway, I'm just rambling now, but I really think we should all appreciate the glorious era of the CD and DVD before everything became a monthly subscription fee!
So I was just messing around with my hardware setup earlier today—you know how it is when you start tinkering and suddenly three hours have vanished into thin air—and I ended up staring at this HL-DT-ST DVDRAM GH24NSC0 SATA CD/DVD drive on my screen! It’s one of those classic SATA drives that just sits there doing its thing, and honestly, even though we live in a world where everything is streaming and digital, there is still something so satisfyingly tactile about having a physical disc drive hooked up and ready to go, right? It’s like having a little piece of nostalgia tucked away in your rig, just waiting to burn some data or pop in an old movie, and I was just sitting here thinking about how much tech has changed since the days of IDE cables and bulky towers!
Audio!
So, I was just sitting here thinking about that Realtek High Definition Audio setup, and honestly, it’s one of those things you just kind of take for granted until you start messing around with your drivers or trying to tweak your sound profiles, right? It’s like that essential little piece of software magic that keeps everything humming along perfectly in the background while you're busy doing much more important stuff!
So, I'm basically on the hunt for a brand-new graphics card because, honestly, my current setup just isn't cutting it anymore if I want to actually enjoy gaming without everything turning into a slideshow!
I mean, if you’re looking to grab something without breaking the bank, just make sure it's for no more than... $667 I mean, if that's really what we're looking at, maybe it's around 2500? Just my two cents! $167 Is it actually worth it though? Like, honestly? I’ve been sitting here staring at my setup just wondering if the upgrade is going to be a total game-changer or if I'm just throwing money down the drain!
So, look, I’m basically just hunting for something that won't absolutely wreck my bank account, you know? Like, I really need a power supply that isn't going to push me into a massive deficit or leave me totally broke, but at the same time, I need a card that actually has a PCIe x16 slot and at least 4GB of VRAM to be useful!
I mean, that’s exactly what I feel like it *should* have, you know? Like, logically, it ought to be there! But man, am I really gonna drop like $250 or $300 on something when I'm honestly not even 100% sure if it's actually worth the hype? It's such a toss-up!
That’s exactly why I wanted to pick your brain about this!
wearymason4 said:"....once I uninstall it, the computer actually works."
Do you mean you're uninstalling the drivers for that graphics card, or are you talking about physically pulling it out of the rig??
..if you're talking about drivers, they probably aren't the right ones for your specific version of Windows, so double-check that, and make sure your power supply cable is actually plugged in tight.
If the PC only boots up when the card is completely removed... then yeah, it's likely dead.

So when I go through Device Manager and uninstall it, the PC runs fine, though it isn't perfect because I can't play any games since I'm missing DirectX
but everything else works totally fine without it
and I can't exactly pull it out of the slot because my monitor is plugged straight into it
whenever I head over to the Intel site to Download the Radeon stuff and then restart, the screen just goes pitch black, even though if I listen to the audio, it sounds like everything booted up perfectly, I just can't see a thing!
Hey there, tech wizards!
So, looking at the title, it’s pretty obvious I managed to totally wreck my setup, but honestly, I haven't got a clue how I even did it
I'm running an NVIDIA GeForce GTX series
The weird thing is, whenever I uninstall the drivers, the computer actually works... so that's all I know right now

My options on the table are basically either buying a whole new rig (something like a beastly Alienware setup)
or just swapping out the graphics card (though I'm clueless on which one to get—so please weigh in here!)

Budget-wise, I can probably swing somewhere around $2,000 to $2,500 if I push it

And yeah, you're probably gonna want to know what else is inside this machine
I have zero idea which specific components are the most critical, so feel free to grill me for details and I'll go hunt them down for you
Thanks a million in advance!
