Nah, after that earthquake hit Athens, they actually started taking construction seriously. On paper, all these buildings should be able to withstand an eighth or even a ninth magnitude tremor.
Man, that was wild. It’s honestly fascinating how dogs just sense it coming—that raw animal instinct is 🙏
Matthew Young35 said:To all of you who were busy mocking us for stockpiling toilet paper and yeast—now that the earthquake has hit, are you feeling even a little bit foolish?
What, did the tremor make you lose control of your bowels or something? 👋
Honestly, it’s about time we just tear down half those useless buildings downtown and kickstart some massive construction projects. It might be exactly what we need to jumpstart the economy before the next recession hits. Could actually turn out pretty well ☕
Man, just saw this depressing segment on RTL about the local markets here in the States. It’s honestly the perfect example of why we should've just let the virus rip through the population—who cares who lives or dies at this point?
ruggedjackal46 said:I see where you're coming from, but honestly, this whole school situation is just pure chaos. Look, the teachers and professors have done an incredible job getting things ready, but the idea that kids can just sit at home, stare at a screen all day, and crank out homework without anyone watching them? That's a total pipe dream. In theory, parents should be stepping in to keep them on track, but let's be real: half of those parents are working, and the other half doesn't have a clue how to discipline their kids. If you ask me, this entire school year is already a wash.
Of course some kids are gonna slack off. But look, it’s about time these kids learned how to take some damn responsibility. You gotta learn, period. Nobody is going to hold your hand through life forever. Otherwise, they’re gonna get hit by a massive reality check when they show up to American universities and realize the professors couldn't care less about them.😁
I find the human race absolutely fascinating. Like, a month ago, nobody gave a damn about being outside—everyone was glued to their phones, computers, TVs, the internet, the whole nine yards. Now, suddenly, everyone’s acting like they’ve discovered nature and can’t live without it. Meanwhile, most of them couldn't tell an oak tree from a shrub if their lives depended on it.
So, people were complaining about digitalization on this thread before, but now suddenly anything goes? School on TV, everything being interconnected, everything moving online... apparently we don't even need a physical stamp on paper anymore for anything.
Man, we really stumbled into the modern age thanks to a damn disease.
Now I finally get how the Black Death jumpstarted development across Europe. 🙏 I guess you need an epidemic every once in a while just to shake things up.
How much longer is this actually going to drag on? Honestly, my inner eugenicist is starting to wake up. Let Mother Nature just do her thing—I mean, who are we to step in and get in her way? Let's go, anima Corona!
I don't get it. My old man is 80, so he bailed out to his cabin in the woods. He told me he hasn't stepped foot in the city or been around crowds for a month now, and he’s got no intention of going back anytime soon. That's just how you look out for yourself—what else is there? He knows he's high risk regardless of how healthy he feels; at his age, you can't ignore it.

Pure Bergam Pathetique.
It’s just like how we sat around waiting three whole days to deal with those cafe closures—honestly, they could have shut the schools down at the exact same time. 🤷
By the way—I honestly think the most vulnerable people out there are actually the ones with the least discipline. I was out riding my bike today and the city is just absolutely crawling with people. Even the news sites are reporting that a group of seventy-year-olds decided to go out for some collective sunbathing and a dip in the Mississippi River today. Just wild. 🙏🤦 Honestly, people like that don't even need COVID—a common cold would probably land them straight in the ICU.
And it's because of people like that that I'm so stressed out. How are we supposed to protect them? Honestly, screw it.
You want to know why I call Italy just some random country?
Because honestly, it’s basically the same deal as Japan—just another aging society, only there's twice as many of them.
And whatever, it's not like they're dropping like flies. People die, obviously, and death will be everywhere, but it's not like we're seeing massacres where it feels like someone let Breivik loose in a freaking kindergarten. To me, this whole situation in Italy is just tragicomic.
Honestly, when I look at this woman, I can't even take her seriously.
Maybe they should ask themselves why things are so critical in Italy? It’s not like people aren't dying in massive numbers there. If this were some third-world country, I’d just say "their healthcare sucks." But we're talking about a modern nation here. You just head 62 miles further north and people aren't dropping like flies.
Matthew Young35 said:Reserve, procure, deploy, pull from storage... pick your favorite phrasing. Beyond that, ventilators are more than just small pieces of equipment. It is absolutely vital to know how many patients you'll be facing.
Getting more right now? Yeah, probably not happening. 😁
Whatever you've got, you've got. The whole world is basically walking around with 80% of people infected who don't even realize they've got Covid—they just think it's a freaking cold.
Tracking mortality rates is honestly a waste of time. Like, 80% of people are just gonna end up with symptoms that feel exactly like a common cold, so they won't even show up in the official data anyway.
Then you'll just end up with these massive, inflated numbers that trigger way more unnecessary panic than anything else.
