It’s such a strange situation; whenever I crank my fan speeds up to 100%, the game just crashes instantly, even though the fans are clearly spinning at full blast...
I'm currently running driver version 18.7.1, but I ran into this exact same issue with older versions too. I actually picked this card up used for $333
. It’s just frustrating because when I need it to perform a little better, it fails and shuts down on me. I know it’s perfectly normal for these cards to hit 80°C, but mine is cutting out even when things are sitting at 70%... I honestly can't wrap my head around why it's acting like this, especially since half the components seem fine while the other half just give up.
I even tried using the dual fan setup, but
I gave it a shot at 100% capacity and honestly, nothing changed.
I went through the hassle of swapping out drivers multiple times, yet the result remains exactly the same.
I’ve even gone as far as reinstalling macOS five different times, but I keep hitting this same wall...
I am truly at a loss here; I just can't figure out where the issue lies. 😢
LP fuck
I’ve run into a really bizarre issue with my graphics card lately!
To give you some context, I picked up this GPU last October, and everything was running flawlessly paired with my AMD Ryzen 5 2.7GHz setup...
The card in question is an NVIDIA GeForce RTX 3060....
The trouble started when I decided to upgrade my motherboard, RAM, and CPU; suddenly, my games just won't stay stable. Everything crashes almost instantly—the screen freezes up, and after a few moments, the game throws an error message at me. I’m fairly certain the GPU is the culprit because I even swapped in a new 700W Corsair power supply, but the result was exactly the same. To test it, I tried out a friend's card, and everything worked perfectly on their rig...
Interestingly, when I switched back to my old processor, things were fine for a while, though even that setup has started acting up over the last few days....
Here is the gist of what's happening: the graphics card seems totally fine under light loads, sitting comfortably around 48-50°C. However, as soon as I launch a game and the hardware actually needs to kick into high gear, the whole system freezes. It seems to happen specifically when the load increases. I even ran a quick benchmark using 3DMark to see if I could replicate it, and while it looks okay initially, the moment it hits 70°C, the whole thing just shuts down. Since the temperatures aren't actually hitting extreme levels and I know the thermal paste and power supply are solid, I'm stumped. If anyone has any insight into what might be causing this specific type of failure, I would truly appreciate your help—and I am more than happy to compensate someone if we can get this sorted out 😁
Best to everyone
