Hey girls, I need a quick favor. I’m looking for a professional photographer for a bachelorette party happening in Chicago, and I was wondering if anyone has a solid recommendation? Ideally someone who does great work but won't break the bank. Any leads? Thanks!

You could also look into the catering from Peter and Anna’s—they used to run Fratelli. A friend of mine recently ordered from them through Kevin Smith7 and couldn't stop raving about the food. I've heard their prices are even better than Nutrition's, so maybe it's worth a look? 🙂

I went ahead and booked the flowers at Lotus—you know, the shop on the corner of Ana and Reisner—for no more than $433. I’m keeping it simple: all white, roses for the bouquets and boutonnieres, and those little glass aquariums with candles and daisies for the 23 tables. For the bridal arrangement, it'll be the same theme—white roses, gerberas, daisies, and lilies—and just some organza and light florals for the car. Honestly, why bother driving all the way out to Dakota? There are plenty of decent florists right here in town if you just take the time to walk around and ask 🙂. As for hair and makeup, I settled on Chic. They don't do house calls, so you have to go to them, but I was originally looking at Petrovicka until I read she wouldn't be showing up. So, I booked Chic instead; I'm actually heading there now for a haircut, and the staff is great. I'm still not sure about the sunflowers. I love that look, it's iconic, but they probably won't be in until October. Maybe check on the price if they import 🙂
?
Exactly. Nicole is always the same; they just move the same wedding dresses from one boutique to another depending on what's convenient. That’s how they built this myth that she’s somehow better in Des Moines than in Indianapolis, but it's all the same stuff. If you want to try on twenty different gowns in Indianapolis, they’ll bring them all to you. Yet, so many girls from Indianapolis drive all the way to Des Moines for a dress, which makes zero sense to me. But hey, whatever...
I'm not actually planning on a civil ceremony at the Registrar's Office, just handling the paperwork, ruggedsailor but what exactly do you have to bring to the office to get that green certificate?
Hey, I’ve noticed the registration process at the Registrar's Office varies so much from one city to the next. Can anyone from Indianapolis tell me how things work there? What documents am I looking at, what are the fees, and is there a strict three-month window, or can I get it done even earlier?

What are your thoughts on traveling a bit further afield to get married—perhaps all the way from Appalachia? 😁
To whom am I even speaking? Everyone tells me it’s madness, but I’m originally from Appalachia and I feel a profound connection to my roots. My family back home doesn't really factor into the groom's side of things, but I’ve never actually spent much time in the Midwest, and their local wedding traditions seem quite foreign to me. So, I was considering having a morning ceremony, then heading out from Appalachia around 1:00 or 2:00 PM so we arrive just in time for dinner at his family's place in a small town in the American South.
It feels as though I might be the only one convinced that this is actually a brilliant plan! Haha. Naturally, my guests would need to depart early in the morning to make it to the Midwest in time.
I have heard plenty of stories about people in the Midwest traveling long distances for weddings. I was thinking the groom and some of his relatives (most of his circle is from my neck of the woods) could stay at my place, and then after the ceremony and lunch the next day, we could head back up north.
Oh, please help me decide—is this truly an exhausting ordeal for everyone involved, or is it something worth organizing?
I once drove from one side of the state to the other for a wedding, and honestly, it was one of the worst guest experiences of my life. My feet were so swollen it was painful, and I ended up skipping most of the evening festivities because of it. 😢 I think it’s just too much driving for a few cars, especially when you consider the police stops and all the chaos you run into on those long stretches of highway...
Hey, does anyone have any good catering recommendations in Indianapolis?

Hopefully we'll see some decent discounts popping up soon. 🙂
Hey silentpanther83, I ended up booking Jack - Petra and Anne - Deram along with Quattro Band 🙂 As for photography, I went with a photographer from Ocala; their shots are stunning, and they’re much more affordable than the local ones here in Indianapolis. Regarding what Steven Morales12 wrote, I’m honestly not losing any sleep over it. I'll make sure everything is covered and everyone has what they need—especially since my guy will be on top of it. He’s got a sharp eye for those details, being a waiter and all 🙂
There's a massive price gap between Jack - Petra and Anne - Deram versus Crystal and Zelenkrov, and you can find flaws in anything if you look hard enough. People always have something to say. It’s all going to turn out fine 🙂

🤣
I get it, but we're on good terms with them, so we won't be paying the standard rates everyone else does. Good luck. 😁
Yeah, it’s fine, no big deal. My guy wasn't really feeling the whole crystal vibe anyway—he’s a small-town kid at heart, so he doesn't see much beyond his own backyard 🙂 but we went just to see what was out there. As for the music, we didn't have any issues; we actually picked our date based on the lineup. We're booking Quattro to play, and honestly, they're the absolute best 🙂
Kimberly Garcia said:Still haven't heard anything concrete about the Crystal ballroom. Can anyone weigh in? What do you guys actually think of the place—the good, the bad, all of it? For instance, I heard a rumor from some thin lady that the food portions are pretty pathetic. I don't know if there's any truth to that, but honestly, if it were up to me, I’d want a much bigger spread. So, yeah, could use a quick breakdown of the pros and cons.
I was there just the other day, and honestly, the venue seems fine. As for the food, I heard the stew looks pretty unappealing—even if it tastes alright, it’s just not much to look at. Plus, the service could be better; it feels like they haven't quite found their rhythm yet. Just sitting there, you're looking at $35 per person if you go for the full menu, like the sandwiches and lamb. I even asked about September 2013 and it's already fully booked. They stay busy. If you're planning something, you might want to move fast. For comparison, Zelenkrov charges the same $35 as the Crystal.
Hopefully, that helps a little.🙂
Hey everyone, I'm new here. Has anyone heard anything about photographer Marin Franov? Looking at his site, he does both photo and video $2000, but is that really enough?
