Ethan Cox5 said:I actually put down a deposit with them too. A couple of my friends booked them about two months ago and their photos and video just arrived. Their take on it was—the pictures were incredible, but the video was kind of a letdown.
I haven't actually sat down to watch the video myself yet, so I can't give my own verdict... but apparently, the faces look blurry and the colors shift all over the place when they switch between the crane shot and the regular camera...
Really hoping they're just being harsh and exaggerating things... 🙂
I'll let you guys know once I get my photos 🙂. Honestly, I care way more about the pictures, so I think I can live with a mediocre video. They aren't actually new; they just branched off to start their own studio. You should check out their work on Facebook. I think Michael is great to work with, and if you have your own specific ideas, he's pretty open to that too!
David Turner7 said:Hey there!
I really need some help from you guys. My partner and I are planning our wedding, and we're looking at a guest list of roughly 100 people, give or take ten. Does anyone have suggestions or recommendations for a venue or a restaurant that could host a group this size in Indianapolis or somewhere nearby? Honestly, most of the banquet halls I've been scouting online feel way too massive for what we need.. 🙂 It's super important to us that the space doesn't feel cramped so guests actually have room to dance and move around. I'm open to any and all ideas...
Thanks!
Check out Zoe in the downtown area, right near Bendek. It’s a newer spot, really pretty, and honestly perfect for smaller weddings. They have a Facebook page and their own site, though they're a little hard to find on Google. I think it's
www.zoe-osijek.hrBut seeing it in person is better! You also have the Hotel St. Louis or the railway house—great food, but the venue is pretty old and maybe not the most attractive. Probably best to just check them all out. At Zoe, you get a free bridal suite right on the property, too.
Good luck!
Andrew James2 said:That wedding dress looks fantastic. How long did you have to wait for it to arrive, and what was the total damage once you factored in shipping and customs?
p.s. I’m also 100% on board with this and can’t wait to soak up that atmosphere—nothing beats 🙂))
Everything ended up costing me about $500 (shipping, the dress, and customs).
Anyway, I'm crossing my fingers that everything goes exactly how you pictured it, but honestly, it might even be better 🙂. I know it sounds silly, but just stay chill—nothing beats those laid-back newlyweds who are actually having the best time at their own wedding. You don't want to spend the whole day stressing over flowers or balloons, because at the end of the day, the only thing that matters is having fun (and saying "I do" 🙂)
I totally forgot to pin boutonnieres on the groom, parents, and groomsmen when he picked me up... so we just did it later. Whatever, who cares...
Enjoy!!
Thanks for all the love 🙂
I’ll just put everything in one post so I don't spam everyone too much...
The band was actually $500 through a connection. They played at my place for about 3 hours (since the groom is from Seattle, we didn't have the big party at his house), followed us to the church where they kept things lively, and then entertained the guests after the wedding while we finished up photos before we had a little dance session 😉
I think their usual rate is $1800, but you can definitely work something out with those guys—they're super flexible on price. Honestly, they're the best! You can find them on Facebook if you want to check them out.
Here's the bouquet:
http://i42.tinypic.com/riyj3l.jpgIt had this dark brown satin ribbon (it matched the vibe of our invites and thank-you notes). I don't have a photo of the tables, but we did one sunflower per tall glass/vase, and on our table, there were floating lilies and sunflowers in low, wide bowls with a satin ribbon wrapped around. All of that plus the boutonnieres for the groomsmen, parents, and the groom, and the cake decor cost me $333. I guess that's a pretty fair deal.

Feel free to ask if you need anything else!
Hey everyone! I feel like I've been waiting forever for this moment—honestly, longer than I spent picking out my wedding dress—just to finally be here and help out some other stressed-out brides-to-be. 🙂
Here’s the report:
Looks like we had about 65 guests show up. Maybe a decent turnout? Just immediate family and my absolute closest friends—it’s gonna be a wedding to remember!
Zoe Kravitz The old venue downtown—it can hold over 200 people easily, but you can probably break it down into smaller groups if you need to. They’ve got this gorgeous new hall now, too. I guess this page is pretty cool, maybe? Just checking things out!
It’s also got a place to stay right nearby, which was huge for me since we had guests coming in from all over the New York City area. The rooms are honestly gorgeous, plus the newlyweds get their own apartment!
Goldman Sachs photo studio They're super cheap, you can probably haggle on just about anything, and honestly? They’re just really, really good. 🙂 They’re giving each couple their own special moment, which I think is such a cool idea! You can check out all the photos and videos on Facebook or directly on their website.
Maybe they'll bend, I guess.I guess there’s really only one, honestly. One hundred percent.I guess there’s really no point in even hyping them up anymore. Honestly, I haven't heard a single bad thing about them—it's just non-stop praise. They did such an amazing job covering Bob Dylan, Mickey Mouse, and Bruce Springsteen that everyone was literally turning their heads because they couldn't believe who was singing. As if I actually have the cash to fly in John Smith or anything! 😁)
She's such an amazing singer! Honestly, I guess you won't regret checking her out at all!!!
Hey everyone, just wanted to grab your attention for a sec...General Electric They’re honestly the best, most amazing, and most genius band I've ever heard! These guys play everything so well, from the mandolin to Beyoncé to even some old-school classics. 😁He actually took my Coors from me right in front of the church, and honestly? It was better than his... I guess people were wondering why they couldn't just keep hanging out at the lounge.😂
Wedding season, I guess.Even though I was pretty sure I’d end up with some cheap knockoff from overseas, my eBay find actually turned out great. I didn't get the curtain rod with it, though, so I guess we had to struggle a bit to DIY one ourselves...
Flowers: Trader Joe's I was at the local farmers market, and I actually saw sunflowers everywhere—I don't know who said they weren't in season yet, but they were definitely there! The bouquet was just gorgeous and really caught everyone's eye. The table arrangements looked great too, and our centerpiece was super cute with those little floating fairy lights, tiny sunflowers, and ribbons... honestly, everything was such a steal.
Maybe just some rosemary? I guess.Maybe it was Emma from Springfield (we even got some for free!)
Maybe some cookies? I guess.I don't even need to bring it up, I guess. BrooklynPeople were saying it was the best iced wind they've ever had, and honestly, the cake looked pretty amazing too.
Decorations: Good partnerI guess they have a warehouse out in Indianapolis. Their website is actually pretty great. All the other shops buy from them, including Microsoft, and of course, they probably charge double...
Shoes, a ring box, some garters (got an extra pair just in case), jewelry... I grabbed everything on eBay, mostly from the UK, and it should be here in about five days.
Rings.I guess I wouldn't really think about handing that kind of cash over to big jewelry chains. Hit me up in the DMs if you want the info.
I guess Smith's drinking. If you aren't planning some massive wedding and don't feel like driving across the border, I guess Smith is actually a pretty solid choice. It’s cheaper than all the big retail chains, and you can even return unopened sodas, which is pretty handy.
Hair and makeup: LeonilaI guess both work, though the makeup was a little heavy for my taste. I don't really wear much myself, so I might not be the best judge, but they have a Facebook page where you can check out the photos. I can't really access external Facebook links like that, I guess. Maybe try copying the text here instead? I'd love to help you out!
Oh yeah, some local moonshine straight from Brooklyn. 🙂 Everyone—including my friends from the Midwest and down in Florida—said they’ve never had anything like this before. They seriously polished off every last drop.
Little decorative jars, wedding favors, and fancy table bottles: Bumble Inc. is honestly the best. They were super helpful and went out of their way for me since I'm all the way from Seattle...
I think that's everything, I probably missed something here or there, but oh well.
Hopefully this helped at least a little bit! Good luck everyone, and if I can give one piece of advice all women get when they tie the knot—don't even bother stressing about it 😁
It was raining on and off during my photo shoot and back home too, and I totally stepped on my dress, but honestly, I had an absolute blast!
Jamie Newman10 said:Quick question regarding marriage prep courses—is this actually mandatory? Like, do you really have to show up and sit through the whole thing, or can you skip it?
I guess it’s only if you want a church wedding. You usually need proof that you finished the prep. For us, they even gave us a list of lectures and marked the one we missed. But honestly, it probably depends on the priest. Maybe only one of the couple has to go? People are busy working and traveling and stuff, so I suppose there's some flexibility.
Has anyone ever held their wedding at the Zoe venue? It used to be a bit dated, but I heard they did some renovations and it looks gorgeous now. Apparently, they hosted a bunch of weddings this year, but I'm not sure how everything actually went... Thanks!
Thanks a million, you're a lifesaver! 🙂. I can finally sort out my plants... I'll try calling the lotus guy and see what happens. I actually wanted white roses, but ever since I can't remember when, sunflowers have been my absolute favorite. My garden is still mostly yellow, so hopefully it turns out okay... It really isn't a bad price, either.
Could you send me Jelena Marjanović's contact info?
I've heard things about that Petrovicka lady too, and she even still has a Facebook page despite being so shady. It's honestly awful...
Oh, and what about cake? Where can I find some that are actually tasty and pretty without being loaded with margarine? 😉
Thanks again!
Seeing some rare wedding vibes popping up in Indianapolis lately, just lots of local stuff going on...
Hey girls, does anyone know a solid makeup artist who can handle everything for the big day? I've been reading that some people didn't even have their artists show up 🙂
What about Jelena Marjanović, how's her work? Maybe I know her... also, if you have her contact info, could you DM me?
Any good florists in Indianapolis that won't totally break the bank...?
Has anyone used sunflowers for their bouquet or decor? I'm kind of unsure about pricing and if they're easy to find...
Thanks!
Just checking back in here. I guess maybe I'm just overthinking everything and making this way more stressful than it needs to be 🙂
If I’d known what a massive headache this would be, I might have skipped the wedding entirely or just flown everyone out to Las Vegas 🤣
Anyway, just kidding! I finally got the venue, the band, the church, the musicians, the cake, and the hair stylist all squared away.
So now—any flower recommendations in Indianapolis? Looking for something that isn't crazy expensive but still looks decent (I'm not super picky).
What about makeup? People keep mentioning that famous Jane M.—does anyone know her rates (maybe shoot me a DM)? Or does anyone have other suggestions?
Also, has anyone ever bought those little mini liquor bottles in bulk?
Thanks! 🙂
Mark Flores47 said:Is it just me, or is nobody getting married lately? 😁 It feels like things have been pretty quiet... 🙂 Can someone help me out with the rental rates for the Admiral hall in Indianapolis? I’ve been digging through old posts but couldn't find anything, and I'm guessing the price has gone up since two years ago.. 🙂 I know the venue is gorgeous, so it's probably pricey.. I just don't want to have a heart attack when I hear the quote.. 😂 Thanks in advance, ladies 🙂
I actually reached out to them before - $75 spoke to someone directly, and everything is all-inclusive. It's their top-tier menu. You can pretty much negotiate anything (like bringing your own desserts or drinks...). Personally, I thought it was one of the best deals out there and the venue is stunning, but since I'm from Cleveland, we decided against driving all the way to VK. Good luck!
jadeotter10 said:For a brass band, I can definitely recommend the Boy Scouts of America. I heard them once and they were sooo good! You can find them on YouTube, go check them out 😉
Thanks for the tip! They’re awesome and have plenty of availability for our dates, though they might be a little pricey, I guess. 😢
They're looking for someone for just one afternoon, I guess. $833I mean, I know they’re a solid group, but maybe it's just a bit much?
Anyone else looking? I guess since those Midwest folk musicians released their new tracks and videos, they probably hiked up their prices too. Does anyone have a lead on someone else? $500Maybe around 2000 max? I guess.
Alex Ross32 said:If you happen to find a dress at Isabella’s, I’ve already put down a deposit there ($333), so I’d happily pass it on to someone for $167—since I’ve totally changed my mind. I mentioned this before, but figured I'd refresh the thread 🙂
Thanks! I'll let you know if I end up picking up 🙂 there. Hopefully I can get moving on this soon...
dustytinker58 said:I actually had my venue and band sorted out way back in June last year, but I let the rest slide... honestly, I don't even know what I was waiting for! 😕 Now I'm starting to panic a little bit, 🙂 but oh well, these are all such "sweet" problems to have, right? At least that's how I see it... just try not to stress! 😁
I'm going to start searching immediately! 🙂 Thanks!
Then you can just rush through the photos... I haven't even glanced at wedding dresses yet either 🤣D
Good luck!
dustytinker58 said:Help! I have my wedding coming up this September and I still haven't booked a photographer, found a florist, or even picked out a dress... I’m starting to get a little hit by the nerves. Is it getting too late? Should I be panicking and rushing through all of this right now? What do you guys think, and when did you all actually start your planning process?
I'm looking at booking Elijah ???? for photography and Stella's floral shop over in Savannah. If anyone has worked with them before, please let me know how it went! 😉
This year? Oh, you probably should've started already 🙂. Most people—bands, venues, etc.—are usually booked solid. I actually just started a month ago and barely managed to find a band and a photographer. But hey, give it a shot, you've got nothing to lose 😉.
September is super popular, just like May. Around here, most girls tend to lock everything down a year or more in advance 😁.
Ethan Cox5 said:So, I just went back and double-checked that... it says 5,500..🙂 my bad..🙂
Just one more quick thing though... how many people are actually included in that package? Like, how many photographers and videographers show up?🙂
You get two photographers and one videographer. There are also extra options if you want a crane, so you'd basically have the whole crew there. But this package covers everything—getting ready shots for both the groom and bride, the ceremony, all that stuff.
Someone was asking about the thank-you notes: 3-$2.25.
Just gonna drop a quick group update here instead of quoting everyone.
The site shows one package for $1333, but then mentions another for 5500. Maybe I'm misreading something somewhere 🤷
I'm sending over the $167 deposit today. I think that's what we agreed on. Feel free to shoot Michael an email or give him a call; he was super helpful and walked me through everything... apparently, the packages can be customized to fit whatever the couple needs. So yeah... I guess. We'll see how it goes 🙂
Jamie Newman10 said:So, does anyone actually know what Kelbas is charging these days?
We’re probably gonna grab one of the bigger packages for $1833. $67 would just be their travel costs up to Indianapolis. You can see the two different packages and what they cover on the studio-kelbas.hr site. I guess everything is negotiable 🙂. They have a Facebook page too. Since they're pretty young, I figure they'll probably go the extra mile...😁
Jamie Newman10 said:Honestly? I'd say maybe a month or two ahead of time...
It probably depends on if you're just giving them a heads-up or actually sending out invites. If it's official invitations, then yeah, a month or two out is fine, but otherwise, you should probably call them way earlier. Like, several months... we’re planning to start calling people for September just so we can get an actual headcount.
Also, does anyone have a recommendation for a good
local bluegrass band near Indianapolis? We booked a full band, but we're still missing some backup musicians...
And btw, someone was asking about that photographer Kelley—well, we went ahead and booked them, so we'll see how it goes 🙂 They have a special deal running through the end of February, they seem pretty decent and the price is reasonable. We'll figure out the rest after the wedding...😁
Thanks everyone for all the replies, I won't try to list you all 🙂.
Just wanted to chip in regarding Vigor—I've been to at least five weddings where they played, and they were awesome. Mario is great and has such a killer voice... but honestly, their sets all kind of feel the same to me, so I went with the 100% option just for a change of pace 😁
Plus, I'm heading to another wedding at the end of the year where Vigor is playing
