In addition to thank-you photos, I’m really hoping to give my guests a little something extra to take home. Does anyone have any suggestions or info on this?
Also, regarding makeup artists in the VK-ZU area—is there anyone else available besides Studio Chic? Everyone seems to recommend them, but they look pretty booked up, so they're probably full for the next six months.
Honestly, your best bet is just to call and see if they have any openings... people always talk about Studio Kokkai (I think that's the name) over in the VK area, near Indianapolis, or you could check out Studio Royal.
As for those cute little jars, if you don't mind a bit of a trip, it might be worth heading down south... a friend of mine picked some up in Shida and $600 they were such a steal, and honestly, they're gorgeous. Hope that helps a little! 😁
George Bishop72 said:I feel the same way...😬 By the way, that salon I mentioned earlier is Studio Kodak... what are your thoughts on them? I sent them a request on Facebook, but they haven't accepted me yet, so I can't see any of their photos
I honestly have no clue, but I'd love to hear if anyone knows. It never hurts to get a second opinion.🙂 😂
George Bishop72 said:Honestly, this whole search is starting to get under my skin 😬 so I’ve decided to go with Studio 54. Given how close the date is, the girl there told me to call back in two months to get on the books. I might have mixed them up with another salon, but I think she mentioned makeup was around $120 or $150, which sounds like a total steal to me. I’ve been scrolling through their Facebook photos, and I really love their work. My plan is to go all out—makeup, hair, and lashes. It’s a once-in-a-lifetime thing for me, and I really want to look my best. If $167 everything goes smoothly, I'll actually be happy with the result. Right now, I'm looking around Washington, D.C., because I'm a bridesmaid in a wedding, and over there, they charge upwards of $300 just for the makeup alone 🙄
That's what I heard too, and nobody's really complained about them yet—at least not that I've heard. They're known as one of the pricier spots, but like you said, I don't care about the cost 😁 I'm only getting married once 😂 plus they do both hair and makeup there, so it's super convenient for me.
placidsurfer15 said:I know there's an unnamed studio around there, but that isn't really right next to the diner—it's actually a street over on Shakespeare Ave, and some kid runs it. Might be what you're looking for.
I don't recall any hair salon being right next to that diner specifically.😕
Honestly, I'm not even sure if they did hair there... 🤷 but I heard makeup at Studio 54 goes for about $150... though I don't know if that's accurate. A friend of mine went there for her hair, and I think she paid around $150-$200... I'll ask her again and let you know for sure if she remembers. Her hair turned out perfect, really elegant and classy... just exactly what I wanted. As for the makeup, I also heard they offer trials $17... and if you end up wanting lash extensions, then it's probably another $17 I think... on top of that $150. Man, I'm overcomplicating this 😂

Once the guests are busy eating and drinking at my place, we'll head over to my hometown for photos because it’s pretty cute too. Then, on the way from the wedding to the reception hall, we might swing by Kunjevac—if it rains, the indoor vibe there is great—or hit up VK if the weather holds up. My cousin is doing my hair; she’s a pro and everyone around here knows her for being both talented and affordable. She’s basically the family stylist at this point. She'll show up at my place at 6 AM to fix the bride, mom, maid of honor, sisters—basically anyone who wants to look good—and then head home. Later that night, she'll be at the venue since she's family. 🙂
Where are you having the wedding party? Honestly, I’d love to just get my makeup and hair done all in one spot so I don't spend half the day just driving around... 🤷
It kind of gives me Studio 54 vibes.. 🤷 As for those makeup artists who bring their daughters along, I’m pretty skeptical.. Mad respect to anyone who actually shows up on time though.. I can't stand it when people are late, and if they just ghost you entirely? Honestly, I'd lose my mind 🙂 😁 A few girls have already mentioned that some people just don't show up at all.. personally, I haven't dealt with it yet, but 😕
You’ll have plenty of spots for photos; I think VK is gorgeous. We’re planning to hit up a bit of everything there—hanging out in VK, checking out Kunjevac, maybe grabbing some food too. In VK, we’ll probably head down to that park near the high schools first, then hit the museum downtown, stroll along the main strip, and walk by the Mississippi River...
I feel you, but if I wanted something truly "wow" 😍 over in Lenije? Honestly, looking at those tiny spots doesn't really do it for me 😉 though the Mississippi River definitely has options. Are you thinking about doing the shoot on the wedding day? I'd love to do it then, but fitting it all in might be a struggle... I'll try to make it work. I'm not actually from Memphis, just from the outskirts, but I went to school there so I know the area pretty well 🙂 Where are you thinking of going for hair? Sorry if I'm grilling you too much 😁 🙂
I actually know people from Marma personally. They used to be $1167, but I've heard around here they're more now, depending on what you're looking for. If you have some free time, swing by Indianapolis—there are some really great spots for photos there. Which hall is your wedding party in?
Yeah, I'm hoping to save up over the next year and start checking places out slowly after Easter. Honestly, the admiral hall is what interests me most 🙂 because the space itself is so nice, I doubt I'll need much extra stuff. I'll also need guest rooms, so it's not like it's insanely expensive; it'll probably land around 4... thanks for the heads-up 😍
Hey, since you guys were talking about where to go for photos... I’d love some suggestions for the Memphis area. I used to take shots near the memorial cross, but honestly, it’s getting a bit played out. :/ I'm open to anything. 🙂 Also, has anyone heard about that Marma lighting company from Indianapolis? I was scrolling through some photos on Facebook and now I'm curious about their pricing... thanks!
Susan Carter11 said:Hello everyone 😉. I’ve started the slow process of planning my wedding, and I could really use some advice. I'm based in Memphis, so I'm looking for a venue, a florist, a band, and all the little extras that go with it. There is a local hall here called V&S, but I haven't heard anything good about it. I assume Hotel Lav is on the pricier side, so if anyone knows their rates, please let me know 😉. My other options are Wichita (which seems like a better bet) or Indianapolis—though Indy is a bit of a trek since my relatives are coming from Little Rock, and I'd rather they didn't arrive completely exhausted from the drive. As for florists in Memphis... what about Jukić? Yes or no? Ideally, I want one vendor who can handle everything: the bouquet, boutonnieres, decorating the car, the church, and whatever else they offer. Please send recommendations for Memphis or Wichita. Regarding photographers... right now I'm looking at the Krizmanić family or Photo Ivan from Ivankov. Most of them include invitations and thank-you notes, so hopefully, that's one less thing to worry about. For the dessert... I'm hoping the cake and decor are included in the venue price 😁, otherwise, I'll probably order the sweets and the wedding cake from Babin Greda. Now, the band!!! That's the real headache. There are endless options, but I need someone talented who won't break the bank (around $1667). I'm looking for a group that can play traditional folk music as well as modern hits. Even a standalone folk group would work, provided they are versatile enough to cover everything... and again, a reasonable price point 🙂. If I've overlooked anything, please chime in 😉. I hope I'm not being too demanding 😂
I've heard Smith is alright—nothing mind-blowing, but based on what I've read here, nobody seems to complain about them. As for that Getty Images guy, I've never even heard of him, so I wouldn't recommend him.. 🤷 girls around here haven't mentioned him at all. Personally, Admiral is my top choice right now 😍, though we haven't picked a date yet. My fiancé's brother is getting married this year, so maybe we'll go next year... provided the price is right. 😕 I'm hosting 400 people, so I need guest rooms too. Also, you can forget about finding a decent band for 5k; the terrible ones charge way too much. Hope I'm not being annoying
Hannah Moore32 said:Hey Tete, did you ever end up getting a wedding dress from that Isabelle boutique in Cleveland?? Or even just stop by there to get a sense of what their rental prices look like... Thanks in advance 😁
If I remember right, my cousin went there to check out dresses. I think she said the ones she actually liked were somewhere between $4,500 and $6,000. Obviously, everyone has different taste, but that's pretty much the ballpark for most places. You can definitely find cheaper options elsewhere if you look. 🙂
quietcobra52 said:Seems like I'm the only one seeing such a low turnout for brides getting hitched in a few months... Is there actually anyone planning a wedding in April, May, or June, or is everyone just obsessed with summer and fall? Now I'm wondering—any drink recommendations? Where can we find the best deals? We're looking around the Cleveland and Osijek-Baranja County area. Our venue manager has a contract with Amadeus and offered us their services, but we've heard there are way cheaper options out there for booze. Does anyone know a good plug??
I've heard about Amadeus too—they're pretty affordable. Prices seem to be pretty much the same everywhere, but they're definitely on the cheaper side. Hopefully, that helps a little bit.🙂
Patrick Morris6 said:I actually reached out to them before - $75 spoke to someone directly, and everything is all-inclusive. It's their top-tier menu. You can pretty much negotiate anything (like bringing your own desserts or drinks...). Personally, I thought it was one of the best deals out there and the venue is stunning, but since I'm from Cleveland, we decided against driving all the way to VK. Good luck!
Thanks so much, I just wanted to get a ballpark idea of the price... I know they aren't cheap, especially since you mentioned how beautiful the place is 😉 thanks again
Is it just me, or is nobody getting married lately? 😁 It feels like things have been pretty quiet... 🙂 Can someone help me out with the rental rates for the Admiral hall in Indianapolis? I’ve been digging through old posts but couldn't find anything, and I'm guessing the price has gone up since two years ago.. 🙂 I know the venue is gorgeous, so it's probably pricey.. I just don't want to have a heart attack when I hear the quote.. 😂 Thanks in advance, ladies 🙂
Man, 😠 the vibes there seem great—lots of nature and all that stuff 😉 but I still need to double-check things. I know a friend and her boyfriend went there recently, so maybe Salaš isn't even open anymore... who knows. Thanks for the heads-up, I’ll have to look into it. Honestly, if I show up and they’re being unprofessional like that, I'm out. I haven't even started looking properly yet, but I'm already getting a bad feeling 🤣 because having guest rooms is a huge plus for me. I've got tons of family living out of state.. 😕 so I'd definitely be looking to snag a discount on those rooms right away 😁
Hey, does anyone have experience with "Salaš"? How many people can it actually fit, and anything else you guys know? I tried searching online but found nothing—either I'm just being a klutz or it's nowhere to be found 🤣
