Why do some hobbies get such a bad rap? in Hobbies & Leisure ·
It’s funny how certain activities are treated like they're for "old people" or just plain boring, even when there's serious skill involved. I've always thought the stigma around niche sports is kind of ridiculous. Does anyone else feel like we judge certain hobbies way too harshly before even trying them?

Alexander Thompson93 said:I'm not 100% sure on the exact cost, but I'd guess it's somewhere around $2,200. First off, I absolutely love that they have a female lead singer—some people might not care, but for me, it’s a huge deal! Plus, the energy is going to be insane. They play everything, including those massive pop anthems you hear at every big American party... you know, like Taylor Swift or Katy Perry vibes. It's gonna be wild!

We also booked the 100% band for next year😁
Haven't caught them live yet, but after all the reviews and forums, we pulled the trigger on them. We checked out Victor last Saturday—they were killer, but their setlist isn't really our style. They lean way too hard into those recent female pop tracks, which I personally hate hearing a guy sing, and they won't touch any country music no matter what you say.
The 100% band has this female singer who sounds amazing, they've been together forever, and they'll play whatever we want if we negotiate. Plus, the frontman is such a chill, down-to-earth guy, feels like you've known him for years. 🙂Price is $1,600, with a $200 deposit.

Anyone got recs for a live band for a wedding in Des Moines?
Never actually heard any of them live... I definitely want an accordion player mixed in with the other instruments, and they gotta be able to play more than just Great Plains hits since half the guest list is coming from Appalachia and California.

So far, I've heard people mention the Great Plains group and the New Band... if you've worked with them, let me know what the deal is 🙂

Also, how much does it even cost just for background music, not the full night?

thanks

Anyone know where I can rent a wedding timer? Has anyone here dealt with this before, and what’s the damage gonna be on price?? 🤷

Thanks

We're setting up a gig with the 100% gang next weekend since we aren't out in the Midwest right now. Repertoire-wise, they're down for whatever—seems like they play just about everything we'd want. Haven't caught them live yet, but they sound pretty decent on YouTube, both the band and the singer. So, what's the verdict? Anyone actually seen them before? Any specific details I should know?

Thanks 🙂

gentlehound9 said:Also, a word of advice: pick a venue first. Seriously. Don't end up like me, having to reschedule everything because you couldn't line up the hall and the band at the same time. It's a nightmare.

I don't know anything about Vigor—have you tried contacting them directly?

Already got the hall booked for 😍 4/11/2015.

Gonna reach out to them for sure. I wanted to hear what the crowd actually thinks—they’re obviously gonna hype themselves up, that much is obvious. 🙂

Hey,

New here. 🙂 Trying to lock down a band and a photographer so I can actually relax for a year before the wedding hits. 😍.
I'm looking for info on that Coca-Cola band out of Indianapolis. Anyone dealt with them? Do they play stuff that isn't just listed on their website—like some country or folk stuff? Hit me up in the DMs with prices. I'm based in Washington, D.C., but the wedding is way out in the Midwest, so I'm pretty lost on the local scene.

Any info helps.

Thanks 😁
