As for the pricing, you’ll just have to give them a call and ask directly, since every band sets their own rates...🙂

I actually hired The Ramones once. They were fantastic—they'll play just about anything you want, from pop and rock to those classic California hits, or even foreign tracks; they're incredibly versatile as long as you reach an agreement beforehand....

Every bit of feedback I've heard about Friends has been positive, so I'm crossing my fingers that everything turns out great! I'll reach out with a full report once the reception is over. :-)
How many people actually attended your friends' reception? And was there enough floor space for dancing?

I did the same thing—just scouring the internet—and the consensus seems to be that Matthews is the top pick (though he was way out of my budget) and Fox is usually booked solid, along with the ones you mentioned. In the end, I went with Marino Photography out of Boise; I liked their portfolio online, and I heard they do decent work. They quoted me around $1,200, which seems to be the standard rate everywhere, really. What are your plans for the band?

For our alternative location, I was thinking we could look for a club, a lounge, or perhaps a villa/restaurant setup somewhere in the San Francisco area...
The main requirements are that it needs to be spacious and airy, with enough potential that we can really make it shine with just a few decorations. It would be absolutely perfect if there were a pool on-site, though obviously, that isn't a dealbreaker. We're expecting about 100 guests.

So, naturally, I am going to need your help!

Please chime in with whatever comes to mind, provided it fits the criteria mentioned above...
Thanks so much!!!

For a group that size, I know of Diocletian and Friends in Malibu (around $40 per person, all-inclusive), and everything I’ve heard about both places has been glowing. I leaned toward Friends because it’s right on the beach. You also have George in Malibu, but I’m not sure how many people can actually fit there. Then there’s San Antonio—I don't recall the exact price, but I know it's pricier than Diocletian or Friends, and drinks aren't included in the package—and Arcade (though I've never actually been there, so I can't give you a real opinion).

plus there’s honestly plenty of room for around 90 guests. Hey, didn't you host a wedding over at Diocletian once, Rebecca Vaughn7? I was wondering what the pricing looked like there.

Paul Morales12 said:God, can someone please point me in the right direction—does anyone know where I can rent one of those bubble machines? You know, the ones that blow those massive soapy bubbles... I’m not even sure if there's a technical term for it, but I'm certain you all know exactly what I mean!

Also, if anyone happens to know a really talented makeup artist over in Savannah, let me know.

Thanks a million!!

I saw one of those machines a few years back at a local county fair at one of the booths; mostly parents were buying them for their kids. It makes those little bubbles—you know, the kind blown from soapy water. I remember thinking at the time how cool that would be for a wedding... they were only about five bucks back then. I haven't seen them much since, and honestly, I never got around to hunting one down :-(

Oh, I almost forgot—has anyone here ever heard of Hrvoje Jukić or Marija Bašić (those photographers out in San Francisco)?
Thanks

To my fellow members—I’ve been lurking on this forum for quite some time now, and honestly, it has been an absolute lifesaver. Right now, I am deep in the weeds trying to sort out photography and videography services. It seems Fox and Siniša Srdanović are already booked up for my date; and while everyone keeps telling me I need to find a solid crew for my California wedding, I’m completely lost, which has left me feeling pretty overwhelmed. I looked into Ivica matica, but frankly, his rates are astronomical—plus, he strikes me as being a bit full of himself. I’m still waiting to hear back from the guys over at Studio In and Nikola Smernić (Studio Papaja) before I make any moves.
I’ve been scouring various forums, but I haven't had much luck finding real feedback. Has anyone here actually worked with Foto Zumba (http://www.fotograf-vjencanja.com/)? Their online portfolio looks decent enough, but I’d much rather hear a firsthand account of what they’re actually like to work with.

Thanks in advance!!

Hey ladies!
So, I’m finally diving headfirst into the world of wedding planning—wish me luck. We’re looking at a guest list of roughly 110 to 130 people, likely somewhere in the San Francisco area. The goal is to find a venue within the city itself, maybe in one of the suburbs, or even out toward the outskirts. Since we have guests traveling in from New York City, I’d really love a restaurant that can also accommodate about 40 people overnight. I’ll be starting my venue tours soon, but I could really use some guidance before I head out. Honestly, I haven't the slightest clue how pricing works—is $32 per person considered a steal, or is $40 pushing it? What should I actually expect to pay, and what counts as "reasonable"? Quality is my priority, but I have zero interest in throwing money down the drain. If anyone happens to know what a standard prix fixe menu costs at Friends, Diocletian, or San Antonio, please let me know! :-)
Also, what’s the deal with live music lately? Is $1,000 for a solo vocalist—someone in the vein of M. Boem—overpriced? And what would a group like Uber or The Beatles typically charge? On top of that, I need a ballpark figure for wedding videography, including photos and a physical album. We really need to nail down a rough budget first so we can figure out our next moves...
I’m not sure if we’re already behind the curve, but we’re aiming for late April or May 2010.
Thanks a million!
