Douglas Reyes3 said:$40 per person without drinks isn't crazy to me.🙂

That’s definitely out of my budget. If I were in your shoes, I’d look for a venue that specializes in catering—somewhere that handles these kinds of events every single weekend rather than just once in a while—and where the $40 price tag actually includes the drinks too.

It really depends on how many people you're expecting, but honestly, if it's under 100 guests, Sky might be alright. But if you're looking at a bigger crowd than that, I'd say just find a classic banquet hall and call it a day... I've heard the folks over at Velour are pretty great, so maybe give them a shout.

Aaron Brown7 said:Thanks for the info... though when you're in a "ready to tie the knot" mood, you tend to hear things differently. In the meantime, I actually called them and was told they could host up to 300 people... and the deposit is $500. They did say the food is amazing, though. Now I'm just sitting here feeling completely confused.🙄

She’s getting married in August, so I guess that’s their big New Year's resolution regarding the budget and the venue size... maybe they tell everyone they're capping it at 300 guests, but then quietly rent out an extra section of the lounge or something.🙂

gentlewolf69 said:Hey, I have two quick questions for you. While I was wandering around the Fair, I was checking on rental prices for a fog machine for the first dance, and the crew over at Rabbit Rock told me they’d do it for $167, but then the folks at Mediarent quoted me $1000. That gap feels massive to me, and honestly, it just seems a bit off... I can't tell if Mediarent is just padding their prices because they've got a bigger reputation, or if there's some difference in how much coverage the smoke actually provides (if you know what I mean)... Do you happen to know anywhere else I should check out? Also, where's the best spot to pick up a cake—should I go with Delta, Bobis, or Viadel? Has anyone here actually tried their cakes before? I've got a discount through the Delta Fair and Bobis, but I've heard Viadel is quite a bit more budget-friendly...

I'm actually looking to rent a fog machine too, and I think I'll go through "balloon for the coast"... they seem way more affordable than the balloon festival or Simba Balloon.
To be honest, renting from Simba is $133 while at balloon for the coast it's only $67, which is basically half the price. It’s a total blowout everywhere $100 and with them being $83, even with those other guys' fair discounts, it just doesn't make sense to go anywhere else. They're located over by Kman.
As for the dessert situation, Viadel is great for cookies and dry pastries, but I've heard their actual cakes aren't quite as amazing.
At the fair, there was Absum LLC from Columbus, and I ended up deciding on them because their wedding cake is only $3.25 per person. So for about 150 guests, the cake would be $500, plus I still get a 10% fair discount. They have their own Facebook page, and from what I saw, they've supplied a ton of our local venues. Their cakes range from $50 to $83, and the standard one for 20 people is $50.
They're at Konzum every Friday, so you can head there to finalize everything with them. Honestly, the flavor is pretty much legendary. Their cookies are $22/kg... again, much cheaper than places like Bobis or Delta.

Aaron Brown7 said:So, does anyone actually have a clue what’s going on with Sky?😢

It looks like they’re charging about $40 per person, and I think you can fit up to maybe 150 people in there. Honestly, since weddings are being held at that venue, I'd say it might be worth just heading down there in person to get the full scoop. I have a feeling the deposit is going to be somewhere around $200 or $300, so if you're serious about it, you should probably get that sorted out sooner rather than later.
She also ended up booking a DJ to go along with everything else.
So, yeah... that’s pretty much everything I know about Sky.

gentlewolf69 said:That’s exactly what the guy from Mediarent told me. $667 is the rate for the smoke machine if I bundle it with their lighting rig, but then it jumps to 3000 if I just want the machine by itself. It really makes me wonder what they're charging for the full package—you know, the lights, lasers, room coloring, and all those other special effects... $6667? My band doesn't carry any of that stuff...

Everything usually comes as a complete package $2500if I recall correctly
Angela Cook7 said:I actually heard it might be closer to 20 or 25? Hmm... now I'm feeling a little 🤷
Maybe they meant 10 ounces for the salad and the rest is just brought from home?
Also, what's the deal with the desserts at Verizon—where is that located exactly? Delta and those other brands are all roughly $20/kg, so those prices seem a bit too good to be true to me. Are they actually any good?

I think their main headquarters is over in St. Jude, though I know they have a little bakery kiosk down by the downtown market area.
I've actually ordered cakes from them three different times already, and a bunch of my girlfriends have picked them up for parties too—everyone seems super happy with them. They really taste like homemade stuff.
I guess their prices are lower because they maybe only run two small bakeries, so they aren't quite as huge or famous as most of the big chains.
A round cake is $33 and the heart-shaped one is $40.
Honestly, you really can't go wrong with them:-)
I guess I should start by saying that I don't want to sound like I'm preaching, but I've been thinking about this a lot lately. Maybe it's just me, but there's something about the way things are going that feels... off? I don't know how to put my finger on it exactly. It’s like we all collectively agreed to follow this certain path, and now that we're actually on it, we're realizing it might not be where we wanted to end up. I mean, look at how much everything has shifted. It seems like just yesterday we were all focused on different priorities, and now, suddenly, the landscape looks completely different. It's a bit overwhelming, honestly. I find myself questioning if we even took enough time to consider the long-term consequences of our decisions. Probably not, if I'm being totally honest with myself. We were all just caught up in the moment, rushing toward what looked like progress, without really stopping to ask if it was the *right* kind of progress. It’s a heavy realization to sit with, and I'm sure I'm not the only one feeling this way. I've been talking to some people, and while everyone has their own take, there's this underlying sense of uncertainty that seems to be pretty widespread. It’s not necessarily that anyone did anything "wrong," per se, but more that the collective direction we chose feels increasingly shaky. Anyway, I guess I'm just rambling now. I didn't mean to get too deep, but it's been weighing on my mind. I'd love to hear what you guys think, though. Do you feel that same sense of hesitation, or am I just overthinking things as usual? I'm curious if anyone else is seeing these same patterns or if I'm just stuck in my own head about it.
Angela Cook7 said:What would you say is a "normal" price for wedding cake per pound? And how much should I actually plan on serving per guest? I'm looking at places like Magnolia Bakery, Whole Foods, or maybe even some local boutique bakeries... 🙂

So, I was reading some stuff online, and apparently, they say it’s about 10 grams per person. If you're looking to get the best deal, I guess your best bet would be at Verizon—they seem to have the most reasonable prices, maybe around 35 bucks? I don't know, just my two cents.$13 If you're looking to pick up some cake, you should definitely check out Sugar or Cakes-Miami—honestly, she makes some of the best cakes I've ever had.

analoglynx17 said:Hi ladies and future brides... just another one of us starting to dive into wedding planning 🙂)) does anyone happen to know the capacity for the main ballroom at the Grand Hyatt in Atlanta?

The main ballroom usually holds anywhere from 200 to 400 people, I think.

Sophia Phillips3 said:Honestly, I’m in the exact same boat here. I’m seriously considering booking them for a wedding, but now I'm second-guessing everything. Help a person out, people! 😁

I guess you’d only really need The Supremes if you’re looking to cover specific foreign tracks, but honestly, those guys can handle pretty much anything on their own since they’re so good at mimicking different vocal styles. They’re actually playing a party for me next year, and from what I’ve heard, everyone loves them. Most importantly, they don't take those annoying, long breaks that some other bands do.
They have a massive repertoire, too.

The Beach Boys are also amazing in my book—their lead singer is pretty wild. These two bands are definitely among my favorites.

Some of these other groups just seem to be in it for the paycheck, and I wasn't really feeling Barbara at all because their singer has a voice that sounds a bit too masculine for my taste.

Hey, do you still need help finding that caterer?
