gentlewolf69 said:That is exactly it! My maid of honor and I showed up wanting to try on something simple, something fitted, maybe lacey or, as Mio would put it, chiffon-style 🤣 and then Helen's assistant, Draga, decides that those styles are all "Roman goddess vibes" and pulls out the first satin A-line gown covered in sparkling rhinestones. Then she pulls out a second satin A-line gown, also covered in rhinestones. I tried them both just to be polite, of course. I kept telling her that wasn't my style, that I didn't like satin and just wanted something simple that flowed... But she just keeps repeating, "Yes, yes, you love that Roman look! Here, try this 'Roman' one with the ruffles, just slip into this petticoat first!" I was having a total meltdown, meanwhile my maid of honor is just sitting there calmly putting on her own satin "Roman" gowns that Draga keeps handing her. I finally threw on the ruffled one, told her I hated it, stripped it off, and started getting dressed because I really couldn't deal with anything else. And there goes Draga, digging through piles of discarded wedding dresses looking for that one "perfect" Roman gown... I was subtly signaling to my maid of honor that we needed to make a run for it, but she has much stronger nerves than I do and found the whole thing hilarious. Eventually, Draga emerges with the "perfect" one: a massive ballgown with a single tulle strap—which looked exactly like those garlands strippers wrap around their necks: http://www.binbin.net/photos/miss-mi...miss-minky.jpg—and there was this giant tulle water lily flower right where the bodice met the skirt. 🤦 I don't regret not playing along and pretending it was perfect just to get a photo. I just bluntly told her I didn't like it, I wasn't trying anything else, and there was no point in bringing anything else out because nothing was working for me. After that, she gave up on me and focused on my maid of honor, who didn't know how to say no, testing everything until I finally insisted we had to go.

Seriously, there is no way in hell I'm stepping foot in Mila's shop. At this point, it's probably better to just head straight to La Perla and see Danielle. Everyone raves about her work; presumably, the woman and her staff actually know what they're doing.
gentlewolf69 said:Peter Collins90, I knew it was Miles behind that post on the local forums the second I saw it. What can I even say... I actually lucked out by having my awkward encounter with her right at the start, rather than waiting until fifteen days before my wedding like you did. It’s just classic, isn't it? She goes around bragging about being the absolute best and most professional in the business, yet this supposedly high-end boutique owner doesn't even know the difference between chiffon and... whatever she calls it! She’s been running that shop for years and still hasn't bothered to learn basic fabric names... It's honestly embarrassing. Anyway, I really hope you manage to find a dress you actually love, one that makes you forget all about whatever Miles was trying to sell you.

Regarding Ariel, my boyfriend's younger brother's experience was a disaster; they ruined his sister's prom dress. She looked like an old lady in a corset and skirt (honestly, she would have been better off wearing just an anklet—she would’ve had the same level of horror for much less money). This was especially frustrating since I used them a year prior and had a great experience; I picked a dress straight from the window that was custom-tailored to my frame, and I was satisfied (a grey, short, powder chiffon number with the golden braid). I have two other secondhand accounts: my boyfriend's niece and her best friend both bought dresses for a wedding. The friend bought a floor model directly from the shop, which fit perfectly, but the niece ordered a custom grey jumpsuit that was poorly constructed. The top kept gaping open, so a local neighborhood seamstress had to sew in elastic just to keep the girl from being exposed. Personally, I find it offensive that these two botched prom dresses were so overpriced, especially considering the fabric was sourced from a local discount textile shop (even the sales clerk there confirmed they source materials from there frequently—I sew, so I frequent those shops). In my opinion, they are hit or miss, much like a certain ice cream chain. Use them at your own risk.
Kurbasina's wife had an okay dress, though I can't tell if it was due to her pregnancy or the cut, but she ended up looking like a Michelin Man... They really should have suggested a different silhouette.

I really hope I wasn't just seeing things. 🙂
I don't usually wear any makeup on a daily basis, but whenever I head out to those high-end beauty expos, I make sure to go all out with my look. Honestly, I’ve been to quite a few of them over the years. One thing that always stays the same, though, is the pricing—they’re all pretty much astronomical across the board.
From my own experience, I have to say that I was most satisfied when I had Anne Hathaway do my makeup. Even though people tend to criticize her quite a bit and aren't exactly her biggest fans, she really worked wonders for me. I’ll admit, she can be a little exhausting to deal with at times, but honestly, the results were incredible. My only real gripe is that she charges a bit more than the other stylists out there.

So, you just show up whenever it's convenient for you, huh?
Where are you, man? Where's our list? 🙂

It wasn't terrible at Nirson, but honestly, I'm a huge fan of French cheese and prosciutto—especially when paired with black risotto or served over mashed potatoes. The risotto at Nirson was 🙂, but the cheese was seriously rubbery; I just had to deal with it.
Here is my breakdown for Nirson: cheese 4/10... prosciutto 6/10... French food 3/10... black risotto 10/10
My boyfriend's rating for the white risotto: 10/10 (though I didn't try it myself)
Beef stew: meat was 9/10, gnocchi was 3/10... my boyfriend's rating for the lamb since I didn't eat it was 9.5/10 🙂 if any of this helps you..
I also went to the Diocletian restaurant over in Malibu, and everything there was absolutely delicious—just incredible...
But maybe it’s just luck, like stumbling onto something good by chance 🤷
Oh, I almost forgot! Some girl mentioned earlier that everything at Nirson was fresh and a seat cost 36 dollars—maybe she was at the same banquet you were at—but a friend of mine was charged 38 dollars... so yeah 🙂
