boldtiger8 said:Here is my two cents regarding Nirsa. I was there with a friend for a party back in September this year. The venue itself is actually quite nice; there were about 180 of us and it didn't feel crowded—there was plenty of room to dance. They also have a terrace opening near the kitchen area so you can step outside, and smoking is allowed inside the hall. Someone mentioned the risotto was amazing, and they weren't kidding—the black risotto was fantastic. However, the prosciutto was too thin and orange, the cheese was tasteless, and the French fries were bland. While the meat in the traditional stew and the drink were excellent, the gnocchi were terrible—totally artificial and rubbery. I didn't try the lamb, but everyone else seemed satisfied. Our waitress was fast, polite, and great, so considering the price point, it wasn't a bad experience overall. But seriously, stay away from the appetizers and those gnocchi. Taking everything into account, it was okay, but my partner and I decided to cross Nirsa off our list entirely; I'd rather pay more elsewhere if it means better quality. 🙂 🙂
On another note, does anyone have experience with the Pirate restaurant from the last year or two? I heard the owner changed. I went back in 2009 and it wasn't good... does anyone know how it is now?
Oh man, thank you so much for the heads-up! We were just about to put down a deposit for the hall tomorrow! 😁 😁 😁
We're going to sleep on it and think it over, because the quality of the food is absolutely vital to me! On the other hand, John Doe offers fantastic food and service for a much, much lower price, but the location is such a headache for us! Ugh, what a dilemma!
