Everything you need for a California wedding in Weddings ·
electricangler said:How many guests are you expecting? And are you thinking of a simple meetup, or more of a cocktail/appetizer welcome? For the weddings I've attended near Pojišan (four in total), the gathering usually involved drinks and finger foods—either at the Park Hotel (outdoors in the summer, indoors once in the winter) or at Vidjakovi. Sure, the parking situation is a bit of a mess, but where else would you go? Mind you, those were weddings without flags, music, or a procession to the church, so they might have been easier to manage. If you plan on having live music or singing, I wouldn't recommend the Park; it's fine for a quiet cocktail before walking. Vidjakovi is more casual and budget-friendly—people usually hang out there for about an hour, sing a few songs, and then the procession heads toward the shrine. As for St. Jude, I haven't a clue.

Oof, well, we are planning on both playing music and singing... and it won't just be a quick meetup; we'll have plenty of food and drinks for roughly 150 people.

Hey ladies, I could use some advice regarding where to gather the wedding party. We’re deciding between holding the ceremony at St. Jude or over in Pojišan, but we're still weighing the parking situation. Given those two locations, does anyone have any good recommendations for spots nearby where guests could congregate before the service starts?

You could always pick up some little bottles at a local boutique near San Diego, or just order them online from somewhere like Amazon and fill them yourself with some fancy scented bath salts... It would probably run you about 6, $2.25 if you're doing it that way...

It's not a bad thought, but I'm really hunting for something completely fresh—I honestly haven't a clue yet.

Hey everyone!
Does anyone have any creative ideas for thank-you gifts? I’m looking for something meaningful, because honestly, the usual stuff just won't cut it. I'm definitely not thinking about photos (ugh, please no), little angels, candy, candles, or magnets. That's all just so cliché... help me out!

gentlewolf69 said:Peter Collins90, I knew it was Miles behind that post on the local forums the second I saw it. What can I even say... I actually lucked out by having my awkward encounter with her right at the start, rather than waiting until fifteen days before my wedding like you did. It’s just classic, isn't it? She goes around bragging about being the absolute best and most professional in the business, yet this supposedly high-end boutique owner doesn't even know the difference between chiffon and... whatever she calls it! She’s been running that shop for years and still hasn't bothered to learn basic fabric names... It's honestly embarrassing. Anyway, I really hope you manage to find a dress you actually love, one that makes you forget all about whatever Miles was trying to sell you.

I'm just starting my search for a wedding dress, and the last thing I need is a disaster like this... I feel so bad for you. Seriously, there is no way in hell I'm stepping foot in Mila's shop. At this point, it's probably better to just head straight to La Perla and see Danielle. Everyone raves about her work; presumably, the woman and her staff actually know what they're doing.

gentlewolf69 said:Man, everything in San Francisco has become so ridiculously expensive lately... My florist back in Boise charges me $800 just for all the same stuff—that's for setting up thirty tables with floral arrangements and candles, plus an extra bouquet for the toss
.

Exactly. I’m actually starting to think about hunting down a florist who can pull this off for a much more reasonable price... maybe someone based in the outskirts rather than right in the heart of San Francisco.

Nicole Watson said:Does anyone happen to have DJ Leto's contact info handy? I managed to snag the number for DJ Double, but I can't seem to track this one down for the life of me...

Thanks so much!! 🙂

I was at a party recently where DJ Dupli was spinning, and honestly? It was an absolute disaster. Just awful.
I really don't get that kind of vibe; the dance floor was basically just senior citizens having the time of their lives...
while the younger crowd just sat there at the tables.

Douglas Reyes3 said:I ended up booking a session at Fitness Bloom... honestly, the woman running it is incredible. I've been to quite a few places where she’s led workouts before, and I really have nothing but good things to say.
As for those treats, I haven't heard anything about them yet.🤷

To be perfectly honest, I don't have much experience dealing with florists. How much does the delivery cost, and what exactly is included in that price point?
I’m really hoping for a substantial arrangement, so I'm just trying to get a ballpark idea of what I can expect.

gentlewolf69 said:I actually didn't end up going to Nicole's at all. If I remember correctly, she mostly carries those heavy crinoline styles, and honestly, those just aren't my vibe... they don't sit right on me. I’d never even heard of Lady before, and I only just recently found out about Lucy since they're pretty much the new kids on the block. I'm telling you, the sooner you start, the better. I wasn't exactly itching to jump into the search this early either, but these modern brides are just absolutely relentless. If I had waited until May, I doubt I would have found a single dress available... everything would be gone. Instead, I went ahead and booked nearly eight months in advance, though who knows what kind of experience is waiting for me... besides, I'm already getting a bit bored of the whole thing after looking at so many photos and trying on so many gowns. :P I feel like I want to start the whole process over from scratch. 😁

I was actually under the impression that bridal salons kept duplicate dresses in stock—you know, two of the same kind so two friends could rent them on the same day... clearly, I was mistaken.
I share that exact same anxiety; I'm terrified that when "The Big Day" finally arrives, my dress won't even be pressed and ready. On a side note, isn't it true that you're allowed one change before the reception starts?

Aaron Brown7 said:I’ve officially entered the rabbit hole of wedding dress hunting... since I'm aiming for a wedding in December, I swung by La Perle, and just like that, they already had five brides down, two of whom have already put down deposits. It was a total madhouse, which is weird because none of the other boutiques I visited had that kind of frantic rush for a late-season date. That said, out of all the dresses I saw, there are only two that actually made me stop and stare—the ones I'm genuinely obsessed with. My only hesitation is that both of them happen to be part of the new collection, so they come with $2000... and honestly, that feels a little steep for my budget.

Personally, I’m the type who just wants to find that one perfect dress and be done with it $3000? :/

gentlewolf69 said:The sooner you start, the better. My wedding is set for August 31st, and honestly, I hadn't even considered looking for a dress before the four or five-month mark. But then I stumbled upon a thread here on the forum mentioning that the Lipoto boutique offers a 20% discount if you book your dress during the very first fitting, provided you do it by January 31st. So, I figured I’d just start hitting up different salons—not actually intending to pull the trigger right away, just browsing... thinking if I found "the one" at Lipoto, I'd grab it by the end of the month to snag that discount. Well, I walked into La Perla and picked out ten different styles to try on, only to have the consultant tell me that five of them were already spoken for on my date. That was a massive reality check... I realized the joke was on me and that I needed to move fast, especially since some gowns were already reserved for December. Even my maid of honor started her frantic search that same day; she’s getting married on September 21st and thought she had until June to look. In the end, we both ended up booking our dresses right in the middle of January.

Good grief, my wedding is in November. I was planning on waiting until June to even start looking, but it looks like I'll be moving my timeline up much sooner than expected.

gentlewolf69 said:I was pretty skeptical about Victoria's Secret too, but once I actually got there, I was blown away by how attentive, professional, and easygoing the staff were. Not to mention how they welcomed my maid of honor without any issues, even though she didn't have an appointment. It was such a contrast to Vesna Sposa, who practically kicked us out twice—even though our second visit was actually booked, she just wouldn't make time because she "had to go photograph some gowns and accessories," and since we're from San Francisco, it was apparently no big deal if we just came back a third time to see her.

On a practical note, how many months in advance should one ideally pick out a wedding dress?
gentleotter88 said:I was looking into that too. There aren't really any shots of her working on models, just her doing her own thing. If you check out this link I posted from Tina, there are plenty of models featured. From what I've heard, she exclusively uses Dior products and even earned a certification from them—at least, that's what it looks like from the photos.🙂

Sure, Amanda is gorgeous, so there’s no denying she’s going to look stunning in photos—that part isn't even up for debate. But setting her aside for a moment, I find myself wanting something a bit more grounded. I’d love to see what a girl looks like when she’s all done up but doesn't possess those perfectly symmetrical, "magazine-ready" features—you know, someone with an irregular nose or less conventional facial lines. To me, those are actually the images worth seeing.
Linda Palmer5 said:gentlewolf69, then there's really no point in driving all that way just for some "tiny savings"—I'd probably burn through the fuel money just getting there anyway. I actually met this wedding planner at a trade show once, and we were chatting about costs—she told me that back in Mostar, prices range from $667 up to $1333 max... so I figured these options would be way cheaper. Honestly, $9,000 for the rental alone feels like a total rip-off to me.

Has anyone here actually had their wedding dress custom-made? If so, where did you go?

I’d love to wear something by Manuel Mote, but looking at those price tags gives me a massive headache... it's enough to make you want to give up entirely. :/
gentleotter88 said:Hi there,

I'm pretty new to this forum.

I was hoping someone could point me toward some professional lighting pros in San Francisco.

I actually saw a vendor at a wedding expo recently, but I can't quite wrap my head around their name right now. 😢

Most of the other stuff is already figured out.

We’re looking at hosting everything at Ruth's Chris Steak House, which honestly seems like such a cozy, perfect spot.

As for makeup, I've heard nothing but amazing things about Tina Fey. She actually did my makeup for a wedding a few years back, and I was so happy with how it turned out.

I'm also starting to look into wedding bands. We stopped by the expo, and Tiffany & Co. really stood out to us as the best value. We actually dropped in to see them yesterday, and they're offering a 20% discount through the end of March if you bring in the flyer from the fair.

Price-wise, they're definitely the most reasonable option. The gentleman helping us was so kind—he explained that we could have any ring design custom-made within a budget that works for us.

Thanks so much in advance for any help!

Best,

Gentleotter88, if you're planning this wedding for sometime this year, my best advice is to head over to Aria immediately—their calendar is already booked solid through December.
You mentioned Tina is great, but honestly, I'm torn between her and Ana Grgić. I'm having a hard time deciding which one to pick.
Douglas Reyes3 said:I had a chance to catch up with Anna, and she mentioned that the price is... $83And that’s her final offer.
I really hope I wasn't just seeing things. 🙂

I don't usually wear any makeup on a daily basis, but whenever I head out to those high-end beauty expos, I make sure to go all out with my look. Honestly, I’ve been to quite a few of them over the years. One thing that always stays the same, though, is the pricing—they’re all pretty much astronomical across the board.
From my own experience, I have to say that I was most satisfied when I had Anne Hathaway do my makeup. Even though people tend to criticize her quite a bit and aren't exactly her biggest fans, she really worked wonders for me. I’ll admit, she can be a little exhausting to deal with at times, but honestly, the results were incredible. My only real gripe is that she charges a bit more than the other stylists out there.

I haven't actually heard of Sanja Krstulović before. Does anyone have her contact info? Also, looking at all the different makeup artists out there, which one left you feeling the least satisfied? I'd love to know so I can cross them off my list immediately 🙂
Has anyone used Amadeo for makeup? They have a page on Facebook.
Thanks!
Charles Gomez4 said:Classes usually run about 60-$$33 a month and cover the basics, like the waltz. Try looking up some local dance studios and ask the instructors if they can put together a custom choreography session for you guys for a few hours—it shouldn't break the bank. 🙂

At this wedding expo I went to, someone actually shoved a flyer into my hand for "Dance Lessons—First Dance Choreography" $567??? wtf?
Peter Collins90 said:She told me recently it would be $350 🤷 (lashes included), and there isn't even an option for a trial run; you just have to go to her house 😢 ...
Lucy Smith is $83, offers a trial ($33), and travels to your location... Her work is beautiful, so to me, it seems like a much better value (you can probably settle on the exact look during the trial, so you won't have to worry about looking completely unrecognizable on the big day)🙂

Does anyone happen to have contact info for Lucy Smith? I've heard great things about Anne, but if she doesn't offer a trial session (which I would absolutely pay for, by the way), how am I supposed to take that kind of risk on the actual wedding day? What if I hate it? Between the stress breakouts I'm dealing with, the last thing I need is a makeup disaster
gentlewolf69 said:It's at Glamour Bride $2667. A friend of mine was actually asking about it just last month...

So, what do we think—Erica or Vogue?
