Does anyone have recommendations on where to pick up a wedding cake? I was wondering if anyone here has actually tried the wedding cakes from Pittsburgh? Or maybe something from a top brand instead? I’m really curious about what they taste like and how they look visually—I want everything to be perfect. Thanks!
Thanks for all the input everyone...
Does anyone have any advice on whether I should book a trial run? Also, do you think it’s actually worth getting professional makeup done for the photoshoot the day after the big gala? Thanks...
The price is $117. I actually wear makeup on a daily basis, so this is a big decision for me... To be honest, I'm a bit stumped regarding the whole trial run situation—I suppose it really boils down to who is actually doing the work and how much experience they bring to the table...
Does anyone happen to have a recommendation for a makeup artist for Monday if I decide to go through with it? (My usual artist is already booked up). Also, does anyone have contact info for Lucia Spajic, and has anyone here actually used her services before?
I’m looking for a little bit of advice here... Do you all usually do a makeup trial? I have Tina Turner booked for my wedding day, and she mentioned that most girls actually skip the trial altogether. It’s left me feeling a bit torn—is it actually smart to book a trial when you consider that the cost isn't exactly small?
Also, we have our photo shoot planned for the Monday after the wedding. I was originally thinking about just doing my own makeup for that, but I’ve heard it’s probably wise to hire a pro then too, simply because high-res cameras tend to "eat" a lot of makeup. If I go that route, it would mean paying for the wedding day look + the post-wedding shoot + the trial. 🤷 What would you all suggest? What were your plans like when you were in my shoes?
Thanks in advance!
Has anyone here actually attended a wedding where Matthew and Bryan were performing? I'm curious to hear some first-hand accounts—what was the vibe like? Did they really bring the energy everyone says they do?
feralsurfer3 said:They really pay attention to the type of crowd attending, so they look for ways to really level up the experience. 😁 They play until the very end—they don't just pack up early like some other bands do. People genuinely love them... 🤷 They stick to the newer hits quite a bit, which is great, but they also sing foreign songs too. I don't think it's too laid back, but honestly, it's all about what you agree on. We’ll probably meet with them again about a week before the big event to go over our specific requests and wishes—and they are always willing to work with us. I even asked if my guests could join in on the singing, since I have a few people who usually kill it and sing in other bands, etc., and they told me it was totally fine... as long as everyone stays respectful and doesn't go stumbling around with drinks near their equipment.😂
Thanks for getting back to me... Oh man, I ran into a friend yesterday who mentioned she was at a party recently where Kocka was playing, and she said they were actually pretty rough—she wouldn't recommend them at all... It seems like even with the best bands, they aren't always at the top of their game every single weekend. 🤷 Now I'm feeling completely torn, and this is making my decision about the band even harder to make!
feralsurfer3 said:I booked kocka for October 5th. I've heard nothing but good things about them, and I actually caught one of their gigs once and they were awesome. The guy we coordinated with for the band details was totally chill and easy to work with. Honestly, it's so hard to snag a date with them. We didn't even reach out until early December, and they were already busy scheduling someone for September 28th. They must be in high demand...🤷
Could you do me a huge favor and tell me about that party where they played? Did they manage to keep the energy up all night long, or were there those inevitable highs and lows? I'm dying to know if the vibe was truly great.
casualviper36 said:Hey everyone! So, I’ve been daydreaming about doing something a bit more modern—you know, that classic American vibe with a guest list of maybe 100 people... does anyone have any advice or maybe some experience with a wedding like that?? I’m really leaning towards getting married outdoors, like just a beautiful ceremony out in a meadow or a field—totally inspired by those dreamy American weddings where you bring a minister out to the site and everything is just perfectly styled with ribbons, flowers, and all that aesthetic goodness. Now, the big question is, how much does it actually cost to have an officiant come out to a remote spot? And what kind of locations should I even be looking at? The only thing popping into my head right now is somewhere like Manhattan 😕
.
Also, can anyone suggest some venues or restaurants that can host up to 100 people and have either a pool or just a gorgeous garden without a pool?
A few girlfriends were telling me about the President in Atlanta, right near the pool—it sounds like it has a killer atmosphere and scenery, but I’m wondering how much they charge per seat... I’m guessing it’s pretty pricey 😲??
The price per person at the President in Atlanta is 50 Euro. They have both indoor and outdoor pools...
Thanks for all the input. It sounds like you guys have only heard glowing reviews about Square... To be honest, I actually watched a DVD from a wedding where they were playing, but it just didn't really grab me. Choosing a band is such a massive headache—I am honestly struggling with this decision so much. Has anyone been to a party recently where Bill & Ben were performing?
I was hoping to get some advice regarding the band kocka—does anyone here have any intel on them, or perhaps someone who caught one of their live sets recently?
My other options are Matko and Brane. I'm really torn on which direction to go with this choice.
It’s becoming a bit of an urgent situation for me...
Thanks to everyone who shared those photo studio recommendations... Now, does anyone happen to know a good wedding videographer? I'm looking for someone who won't break the bank, but will still deliver a decent final edit...

The wedding is happening next April. We’re looking at a maximum of about 90 guests, so can anyone throw some good venue recommendations my way?
Also, does anyone here have experience working with the photographers over at studij Bonačić? I’ve been scrolling through their portfolio and the shots look killer, but we’re really leaning towards something more spontaneous and candid.
I'm not sure if there are any dedicated wedding halls in San Francisco that cater to a group as small as 90... but you might want to check out some upscale restaurants instead. Maybe try reaching out to places like America, Kadena, bot šara, Velum, or Grašo...

So, we’re starting to map out our wedding for sometime next spring—probably looking at those classic June or September dates—and we’re expecting about 250 guests. We're based right outside of Miami, and honestly, most of our eyes are on venues in a nearby Suburban town. It seems like finding a spot in Miami that can actually handle a crowd that size is nearly impossible, if I know my facts straight, plus the Suburban town area should be a bit easier on the wallet...
Has anyone dealt with any local venues or handled bookings recently at places like Walmart, Dolis, or Phoenix? I’m looking for the real scoop: what was the experience like, how were the prices, and what was the overall vibe?
Also, regarding the music... we aren't picky, we listen to just about everything, so we'd probably go with a live band. Does anyone have any firsthand experience working with Wine and Ivo?
thanks Reddit!
The salo bolero in San Francisco can actually hold 250 guests... and if I remember right, the price was around $45 per person...
I’ve been looking into both foto studio V in San Francisco (where Vilim Bujević works) and foto studio Toni over in San Francisco as well... Has anyone here actually hired either of these studios for wedding photography or videography? I'm curious—were you happy with how everything turned out? Or maybe you've just heard some word-of-mouth about them? Any bit of advice would be so appreciated... Thanks!
rustywalker34, thanks so much! 🙂
First and foremost, I need to know about the food—is it actually delicious? Also, how is the lighting in the room itself? I’m really not planning on bringing in any extra lighting rigs. Oh, and do you happen to know if there's a specific cutoff time for when guests have to head out?
I have to say, this particular room is one of my absolute favorites, mostly because it’s so close to the pool. 🙂 I'm currently torn between this space, the old Aria, Kokolo, and the Atrium.
Thanks Reddit!
Has anyone here actually stayed at the Radisson Blu? I’d really appreciate any feedback or insights you might have 🙂
Hi everyone!
I’m looking for some local insight regarding banquet halls in Miami—specifically thinking about Atrium, Radisson Blu, or Aria ex. Does anyone have experience hosting a party at any of those locations? I’d love to hear the honest truth about how the food turned out and if the service was actually professional or just mediocre...
Thanks so much! 🙂
