Everything you need for a California wedding in Weddings ·
The big day is creeping up on me quite fast, so I was just sitting here wondering if anyone might have some photos to share showing how you all went about decorating your place? 🙂)

I was reading somewhere that the rental fee for the Getty Center might actually just cover the space itself $13. It’s basically just you getting the room, and then you have to figure out all the extras on your own—like finding a caterer, setting up the lighting (which is pretty vital since it's such an open layout), and all those other little details...

casualjackal72 said:Oh, one more thing—wedding rings.

We’ve been hitting up all the jewelry stores around town looking for something simple. We want classic yellow gold, though we're actually leaning toward white gold this time. So, the very first jeweler we stopped at right on the waterfront (I think the shop is called "Waterfront Jewelers") is quoting us $833, but everyone else is charging anywhere from $3,800 to $4,700 (the most expensive one was Reić!). Most of them seem to hover around $1333, give or take a hundred bucks. Honestly, we aren't exactly experts here; I guess we just don't see the difference between the ring at the waterfront shop and, say, the ones at Vagus that are offering $1333 for two identical rings. Maybe it's some kind of alloy blend, so the quality is a bit lower? I'm not sure. What do you guys think? Have any of you dealt with something like this before?

We actually just picked up our wedding bands about two weeks ago. Honestly, we went from shop to shop, and the price gouging is absolutely insane. It was wild how much the price for the exact same style of band could vary between three different jewelers (I'm not entirely sure what the deal is with the gold purity, since they were all listed as 14k).
I really have to give a shout-out to Đonlić this time around. That's where we finally ended up buying our bands. We actually caught a 20% discount for paying cash. Were you around when that sale was happening? He has such a massive selection of bands! Seriously, props to him. We checked out pretty much every jeweler in the city, and honestly, Đonlić and Vagus have the best variety by far. My take is that almost all the bands are 14k gold; if you're looking for higher karatage—you know, purer gold—you probably have to specifically ask for it when you order, which obviously costs extra.

William Lewis8 said:How much are they even charging?! And do they actually have any women on staff? Seems unlikely to me...

They definitely have a girl. If I remember correctly, there are about five or six guys and just one girl in the mix.

Thanks.

I honestly can't say enough good things about the Boss group. They’re actually going to be playing at our local festival soon, and I am just over the moon about it. They have such an incredible reputation for performing at places like the local arena, so if you ever get the chance to catch one of their shows, seriously, go—you will absolutely love them. They truly deserve every single cent they make.

gentlewolf69 said:As for Missa, the girl working there is a bit dull—well, "a bit" might be an understatement... She’s constantly talking about herself and her work, acting like she’s this absolute superstar or something. My godmother used to use her for wedding arrangements, and she sent over pictures of exactly what she wanted: a mix of white, pink, and rosy tones with all sorts of textures—roses, orchids, hydrangeas, wildflowers, you name it... But the florist just handed her a bouquet made entirely of white and pink roses. It wasn't bad, per se, but it wasn't at all what my godmother asked for. When you talk to her, she makes all these grand promises, but in the end, she just does whatever she feels like doing. She even told my godmother she’d make me two boutonnieres—one from fresh flowers and one from silk so I could keep it as a keepsake since I'm the maid of honor. In the end, there was no fresh boutonniere at all; I just ended up wearing this cheap little wristlet with three tiny flowers on it. Honestly, the favors we made for the guests looked more expensive than that little thing...
You should probably check out TNT Florals instead. I’ve heard nothing but great things about them. They’re located right below Victa, near that Burger King...

I have to agree.
She does okay work, technically, but she is just so exhausting to deal with. During our consultation, I really got the feeling she was trying to push her own vision onto me, like she was forcing me to accept what *she* thought looked good. Every time I tried to explain what I actually wanted, she’d just start making excuses about why she doesn't do things "that way," blah blah blah. At the end of the day, it’s my big moment, and I feel like—provided it’s actually possible, of course—my wishes should be respected rather than having her tell me how my main head table ought to look.

Total game changer.

So, where exactly are they located? If you don't mind, could you shoot me a private message with a rough idea of their pricing? Also, I was wondering how far in advance I really need to get those cake orders in to make sure everything is set.

I wonder how many pounds of pastries they actually keep in stock over at Slatkarije?
Do you guys think the treats at Slatkarije are actually better than what you'd find at those local American cookie shops, or maybe just a classic neighborhood bakery?
Kate Martinez33 said:Hey there! 🙂

Victoria's Secret, Vera bridal, Glamour Bride, Gale's boutique, my Lipton...

That's basically everything I can think of.

I picked up some stuff at Victoria's Secret, and honestly, the women working there are actually pleasant. They aren't pushy at all, which I love. They aren't those annoying types who tell you that you look stunning and gorgeous the second you step into a fitting room.

I have to jump in and say I also love the staff over at Victoria's Secret! I was genuinely impressed by them, and their wedding dresses are just flawless.
Who did you guys end up ordering your cake from?
P.S. I heard that the local House bakery is fantastic—apparently, they make real, homemade-style cakes. I heard some friends had their cakes from them at a party and everyone couldn't stop raving about them. BUT, the price is $33!!!

The price for flowers seems to hover right around $1333 everywhere you look, especially if you’re aiming for that full look where every single table in the hall has a bouquet, plus the sweetheart table, the car decorations, the church arrangements, and individual bouquets...
There’s Mis and TNT over in San Francisco which are pretty well-known names, though personally, I wasn't ever huge on Mis, but hey, maybe you'll actually love them. It really just comes down to personal taste, I guess.

Oh, and guys, I seriously need some advice 😁
So, I’ve decided I’m going to try making the boutonnieres myself, partly because I love being hands-on and partly to save a little cash.
I went ahead and bought some ribbons in this pale pink shade and tried to fashion a little flower, but honestly, it looks terrible because I just can't get any kind of shape or expression out of it... :-( Thank goodness I haven't actually bought the flowers in that color yet.

What do you all prefer more—pink or cyclamen? Though lately, I've been leaning toward the darker tones, like an old rose... paired with white, I think that would look lovely. What colors are mostly showing up at your weddings? What do your boutonnieres look like?
Bradley Davis said:Has anyone been to the expo at Lava lately? Any new vendors showing up? I honestly wouldn't bother going if it's just the same old crowd you see at the Radisson. I managed to snag a wedding discount over at Glamour Spose there, so if anyone else has found some good deals today at Lava, let me know.

I think LA PERLA is set up at the mall right now, and I believe they’re offering something like a 20% discount. There’s someone else exhibiting too, but I wasn't really paying close attention to the names since I already sorted out my wedding dress situation.🙂
Where are you all planning to get your desserts? Has anyone tried those treats from the bakery near the outskirts of town—the ones that say "Absum LLC makes homemade sweets"? Does anyone know if they're actually good? Or does anyone have recommendations for great homemade cookies or really delicious cakes??😁

P.S. I was absolutely obsessed with the brittle from that little pastry shop down by the marina, though I completely forgot to ask what the prices were like.

So, does anyone here actually have any firsthand experience working with TNT?

I’m honestly feeling a bit stuck on what to do next. I really have my heart set on having a table in the hall that looks absolutely lush and beautifully decorated, but everywhere I turn, people are telling me that those kinds of floral arrangements end up looking way too somber—almost like something you'd see at a funeral home. It’s such a dilemma because I want elegance, not gloom, so I’m curious to hear what you all think about it.

is that some kind of TNT?

Has anyone here actually used TNT Florist or Missy's before?
Which one would you guys suggest I go with??

Does anyone happen to know much about the usual traditions regarding gifts for godparents or parents during weddings? I've been wondering if there's an unwritten rule about whether the couple absolutely has to get them something special.
Also, does anyone have any good recommendations for cakes, floral arrangements, or hairstylists in the Los Angeles area?
Bradley Davis said:And still nothing. 😢I'm heading over to that Unknown spot in a few days. We got turned away from Velum because they won't deal with us unless we have at least 100 people—they're only interested in the profit. 🙂They completely ruined my plans. I was really looking forward to this, but whatever... It’s obvious everything is just about the money these days.

Ugh, that's such a bummer... we had a similar experience where we were rejected from those massive convention halls just because our guest list fell below 150..
I heard that the venue at the Grand Hyatt is actually accepting smaller groups, and honestly, that place is absolutely stunning
My wedding isn't even until August, and I’ve already gone and found my dress 😁
I honestly found exactly what I was looking for right away, so I just had to jump on here and give a huge shoutout to La Perla!! 🙂
Maria Bailey4 said:Hey ladies, anyone checked out the 2014 Pronovias wedding collection lately? I saw they have some at Glamour Bride... just wondering what kind of prices we're looking at?

Have you checked out La Perle yet? I’m pretty sure they carry that line too. As for Vesna's, I honestly have no idea what their pricing is like, but I do know they're the only shop in town that asks for half the total cost upfront just as a deposit, which feels a bit steep to me!😲
Bradley Davis said:Yeah, I'll head to Veluma first, and I'll swing by Little Forest too just to see the space. I just want to get this over with without any massive headaches. I thought having a smaller reception would be easier, but clearly, it's all the same amount of work.🤷

Also, do you know if the food at Šimica is any good? And is there enough room, or does the whole setup feel cramped?

To be totally honest with you, I’m not really sure. We actually loved the area where we stayed, and I remember thinking the restaurant looked quite lovely on the inside when we passed by, though we didn't end up going there very often since it wasn't really an option for us once our group size grew. Have you made a final call on which restaurant you're going with yet?
Everything you need for a California wedding in Weddings ·
You should definitely head over to Veluma as soon as you can. Most of the larger banquet halls are already booked up for next summer, and honestly, I’m not too sure about the smaller venues... What do you think about Little Forest? They really only take small parties, and while we had such a wonderful time there ourselves, they turned us down because our guest list hit 130 and their capacity tops out at around 80.
My best advice is to lock down a venue first, because once you have that set, everything else—the band, the photographer, picking out a church—basically falls into place around that date. You really need to jump on this quickly because most places are already filling up for next year. It’s funny, I actually have my own wedding coming up next summer too, and I was genuinely surprised by how much planning you have to get done this far in advance.
