Everything you need for a California wedding in Weddings ·
Hey ladies, where have you been shopping for wedding jewelry and hair accessories?? I need stuff that isn't insanely overpriced...

Also, does anyone have any recommendations for affordable gel manicures?😉

Rebecca Murphy5 said:Hey fly... about those vital records... you’re probably gonna need to get in touch with the local county clerk's office to verify birth certificates and citizenship papers. Honestly, you can usually handle most of that over the phone. As for the godparents, they just need to send over copies of their IDs. But, if I were you, I'd try to head down there in person at least a month in advance to hammer out all the timing and logistics. That’s what I was told, anyway. I’m not sure which specific municipal office you're dealing with, but just look up the number online and give them a ring... man, they transferred me like ten different times when I called, but they eventually got everything sorted for me. It’s definitely best to double-check just so you don't run into any surprises... hope this helps you out even just a little bit 🙂

Thanks a ton, you really helped 🙂. I'm going to call this week and get everything scheduled so I can check that off my list too 🙂
Hey everyone, I recently stopped by the main branch over in downtown Chicago, and when I asked the woman there which documents I needed to bring along, she just told me she’d look us up in the system and verify everything from there. Now I'm stuck wondering—do my husband and I actually need to go out, get those specific papers, pay the $8.25 fees, and then bring them back to her for review, or is she all set? I'm a little confused. She did mention we need to buy some revenue stamps and bring those in, which makes sense... but what about these other documents?? 😕

She also said our godparents don't even need to show up; we just need to bring copies of their IDs. Apparently, the whole thing will only take about five minutes.

Hey, I’m having a hard time finding updated pricing for all these caterers online. If anyone happens to know what they're charging this year, could you point me in the right direction? 🙂

1. Arkada
2. Rus
3. Pimpinella
4. little Kate
5. Boban drinks

I’d be bringing my own alcohol...
Could someone shoot me a DM or reply here with recommendations? Also, does anyone know what the rates are for off-the-books catering, and who actually does good work??

Thanks! 😍
Does anyone have recommendations for good hair stylists in Los Angeles? I’m looking for someone who does wedding updos—where did you guys go, and how much do they usually charge for a trial run?

😉
Does anyone know what the price range is for wedding dresses at Maggie Smith in San Francisco? Are they considered on the pricier side? Thanks

1. Does anyone have a ballpark idea of what it costs to rent out a cafe or bar for just a couple of hours to host a small reception?

2. Any recommendations for hair salons that specialize in wedding styles? Also, what’s the typical going rate for a trial run? I think I heard someone mention that some salons offer free trials... if that’s actually true, let me know because I'm interested.😍

3. Where can I find some nice wedding jewelry without getting completely ripped off?

4. Where did you guys order your invitations from? The more I look, the more indecisive I get.😕 Give me some suggestions....
Has anyone been to the expo at Lava lately? Any new vendors showing up? I honestly wouldn't bother going if it's just the same old crowd you see at the Radisson. I managed to snag a wedding discount over at Glamour Spose there, so if anyone else has found some good deals today at Lava, let me know.

Can anyone recommend a trio or maybe a quartet based around Los Angeles? Please give me a few options, but I need them to be budget-friendly—ideally under $1,200. I really want a group that can bring a great vibe to the party. Spending $1,500–$2,000 is just way too much for me, especially since I'm also planning to hire some musicians for the actual gathering.

Hey guys, can someone shoot me a DM if you've ever had a wedding at Friends or attended one there? I have a few specific questions about the details and don't want to clog up the public thread. Thanks! 🙂
Hey everyone, before I start hunting for options, I wanted to see if anyone has been to a party at Unknown or in San Antonio lately? What are the prices looking like for 2024?

A lot of people rave about them for smaller gatherings, so I’m curious about the food—has the quality dropped or anything like that? I have an option over at a place in Seattle, but it's running about $47 per person.

Also, I'm looking into the Radisson Blu. Not the outdoor beach party, but I saw photos of a gorgeous restaurant near the pool area. They have a package with a standard menu, a suite for the newlyweds, and decor for $107 per person. I'm not sure if it's actually worth it, though the location looks stunning.
Timothy Fisher50 said:To be totally honest with you, I’m not really sure. We actually loved the area where we stayed, and I remember thinking the restaurant looked quite lovely on the inside when we passed by, though we didn't end up going there very often since it wasn't really an option for us once our group size grew. Have you made a final call on which restaurant you're going with yet?

And still nothing. 😢I'm heading over to that Unknown spot in a few days. We got turned away from Velum because they won't deal with us unless we have at least 100 people—they're only interested in the profit. 🙂They completely ruined my plans. I was really looking forward to this, but whatever... It’s obvious everything is just about the money these days.

Timothy Fisher50 said:You should definitely head over to Veluma as soon as you can. Most of the larger banquet halls are already booked up for next summer, and honestly, I’m not too sure about the smaller venues... What do you think about Little Forest? They really only take small parties, and while we had such a wonderful time there ourselves, they turned us down because our guest list hit 130 and their capacity tops out at around 80.
My best advice is to lock down a venue first, because once you have that set, everything else—the band, the photographer, picking out a church—basically falls into place around that date. You really need to jump on this quickly because most places are already filling up for next year. It’s funny, I actually have my own wedding coming up next summer too, and I was genuinely surprised by how much planning you have to get done this far in advance.

Yeah, I'll head to Veluma first, and I'll swing by Little Forest too just to see the space. I just want to get this over with without any massive headaches. I thought having a smaller reception would be easier, but clearly, it's all the same amount of work.🤷

Also, do you know if the food at Šimica is any good? And is there enough room, or does the whole setup feel cramped?

Hey everyone, I’m officially joining the club 🙂.

I'm planning a smaller wedding, maybe around 70-75 guests. I really love Velum, but I'm worried they might already be fully booked. Can anyone recommend some smaller, highly-rated restaurants in San Francisco that can accommodate a group that size?
I'm hoping to start touring venues around January.

My budget is pretty tight—I'd really like to stay around $45 per person.

The wedding itself will be in late September or early October 2014.

Also, what's the standard workflow here? Do you pick the venue first and then hunt for the church, photographer, and band?
