Maria Fisher46 said:Assuming these values were taken at 0, 60, and 120 minutes, the results fall within an acceptable range and could be considered normal. However, this really depends on your specific symptoms—what prompted the test in the first place—and whether you might be pregnant, for instance.

Thank you so much for the response! You are exactly right; the measurements were taken at baseline, then 60 minutes and 120 minutes after glucose consumption. I requested these tests because my cycle has been unusually long (over 45 days). I’m not pregnant, though I certainly would like to be, which is why I'm being so proactive about all of this. For context, I deal with hypoglycemia and Hashimoto's, but all my sex hormones came back fine, with the exception of my AMH, which was elevated. It points toward some kind of atypical PCOS. My doctor prescribed Metformin, which I've started taking, and I am optimistic that it will provide some relief.
I would truly appreciate some insight regarding these OGTT results and the three-point insulin levels. My first insulin reading was 38.6 pmol/L (within the reference interval of 17.8 - 173.8), followed by an insulin II of 490.2 pmol/L and an insulin III of 238.5 pmol/L (note that reference values for insulin II and III were not provided). As for glucose, the first measurement was 5.1 mmol/L (reference interval 3.3 - 5.2), while glucose II was 6.9 mmol/L and glucose III was 5.8 mmol/L (again, no reference values were listed for glucose II and III). Thank you!
At La Perla, they’ve started charging for consultations now $25, and if you happen to try on any of Bertin’s wedding gowns, then $50...

Drew Smith44 said:A few girls already asked for recommendations and didn't get an answer, so I’m hoping one of you can point me toward a good cake spot (obviously needs to taste amazing, but I don't want to go broke doing it). Also, does anyone have thoughts on a hairstylist? I ran into some ladies from Disney at the fair—has anyone actually used them before? My wedding is this summer, so I really need a style that holds up, especially since my hair tends to be on the thinner side 😢

I ordered a four-tier cake for about 170 guests from a place near the Mississippi, and it cost me $667 (I had a flyer with a 20% discount). They followed my instructions to a T; it looked exactly how I envisioned it and tasted wonderful. I didn't bother asking about any other bakeries.😁

I went to the Art Institute of Chicago in San Francisco for my hair and was absolutely thrilled with the results. I barely have any hair to work with myself! You can find plenty of photos on Facebook, so take a look there. I have also heard great things about Josip sa Mejaš (look for Sassoon on Facebook), though I haven't personally been there. He stays booked up quite far in advance, which usually speaks volumes about his talent. I hope this helps!

I used to get my plastic dessert containers at Nirs. My advice? Buy them in bulk—people always end up walking away with a couple of them!

Carol Bailey3 said:Hey,
can anyone give me some makeup recommendations 🎉🎉
I've looked at Meryl Streep, Anne Hathaway, and Emma B., but maybe someone else??
What have your experiences been like? 🙂))

I recall that last year Meryl Streep was looking for $167, but I personally found that look to be way too over-the-top. I actually had Anne Hathaway do my makeup once; the price was $117, and while she worked incredibly fast, I was genuinely satisfied with the results. In fact, I've booked her again for a photo shoot this Monday. As for Emma B., I'm not sure who she is. However, I would highly recommend Apple (even if her Facebook photos don't quite do her justice); I've seen several people she’s worked on in person, and honestly, I am speechless. She will absolutely be my go-to from now on. Her rate is $83, and I believe she doesn't travel to clients.
David King72 said:Just make sure you stay cautious when dealing with her, too.

I completely agree. A friend of mine used her for her wedding, and while I know she didn't pay a premium, her bouquet was honestly the most underwhelming arrangement I have ever seen in my entire life. On top of that, the floral decor scattered throughout the venue was absolute garbage. But the absolute worst part? My friend mentioned afterward that the florist went rogue and did something entirely different from what they had actually agreed upon. To me, that is the ultimate red flag—when someone you are paying simply ignores the contract. Mind you, that was back in 2013, so obviously, things could have changed significantly since then.

For my own wedding, I hired a local florist called TNT (located right below the Belvedere building). They handled my bouquet, the car decor, and the main head table, all for less than $1000, and I was beyond thrilled. I spent the entire evening telling everyone how perfect the head table looked. Not long after me, another friend got married and used them as well, and she was just as happy. The woman is professional, polite, unassuming, and truly knows her craft. She respects your vision and sticks to the agreement; she can replicate exactly what you show her in photos, and she offers great advice if you're feeling indecisive (which was me, since I only knew 😁)... I recommend her from the bottom of my heart. 👍

Edit: Oh, I almost forgot—every single florist I’ve spoken with includes vases, candle holders, and similar items in their pricing. I’m not sure if that is the industry standard or if I just happened to find the good ones

Help! I am looking for a recommendation for a beautician in San Francisco who does exceptional manicures and pedicures. I am planning to get a standard shaping and polish for my fingernails, along with some foot care before my wedding, and I might just decide to treat myself right now 😉

Any chance I could actually track these down somewhere else??? And I don't mean eBay—we're already running way too low on time for shipping delays—but like, is there any way to just pick these up locally here in the States?

Well, you might find something similar right here, though they won't arrive until August 13th. I truly hope that isn't too late for your timeline!http://www.pompomland.com/shop/

fadedsurfer54 said:I'll check it out, thanks 🙂 does anyone here have experience with the St-Flowers florist, and generally speaking, how are their prices for flower arrangements holding up lately?

Regarding catering—I've heard great things about Dalmatino, Calypso, and Rus, though I don't have any specific details on their pricing.

As for the flowers: a bouquet will run you anywhere from $400 up to $267 (this includes boutonnieres for the groom and groomsmen), the head table decor will be between $1,000 and $500, the church decorations will cost about $233, the car decor around $133, and the individual table arrangements will fall between $50 and $33.

If I were looking for a band to recommend—one with great energy, solid lyrics, and without all that unnecessary whining—who would you pick between Boss, Vive, or Dice? To be honest, Vive is technically flawless, but they just don't seem to have that connection with the crowd, even if they are objectively amazing... on the other hand, Boss has that killer stage presence and a repertoire that actually keeps people moving. I'm torn :-/

DreamWorks.
copperowl13 said:Is it actually standard practice for a studio to demand that you pay a deposit to hold your slot, plus an additional 30% of the total projected cost several months in advance? Or am I just dealing with a complete outlier here...

That is the first time I have ever heard of such a thing. I simply paid a $500 deposit, and that was absolutely everything.

Robert Gonzalez88 said:Hey there... I was wondering if anyone could maybe point me in the right direction for finding some musical accompaniment in San Francisco? I'm looking for a duo, a trio, or even just some folks playing tambura or accordion to back me up. Any leads would be amazing. Thanks so much!

I have heard great things about:

XXS
Festivo
Fiesta
Marino Franičević
Tim Cook

From what I understand, most of these groups operate by having you specify exactly which instruments you need, and then you work out all the details together.

Could someone please share the contact information for makeup artists Anne Griffin and Antonia Guce? You can post them here or just send me a private message. Additionally, I am looking for recommendations for other talented makeup professionals besides Lucia Spajic, Tina Kalinic, and Maya Banic. Any leads would be greatly appreciated! 🙂

Elizabeth Barnes36, I can't speak to all the specific quotes you mentioned, but I do know that Aria charges $40 per person on Saturdays, just as you noted. From what I understand, Sky is closer to $42. That $40 rate applies if you bring your own wine; if you go that route, Aria drops to $38 per person. I'm not sure about the other venues, but at Aria, the price includes table linens (I assume that’s standard everywhere) and beverages excluding hard liquor—so sodas, beer, and their house wine are covered. You'll need to bring your own desserts, and while they provide lighting in the hall, there is an additional $300 fee for it. Word is that if you try to coordinate the lighting yourself through a third party, it actually ends up costing more, though we've already touched on that debate here on the previous page. Within that same budget range, you also have Bolero near the Belvedere building over on Velebit ($40), which you didn't mention in your list.

granitefox19, I recall there was a fair held at the Just say Yes venue sometime in the fall, then around January, I believe there was one at the Radisson, and around Valentine's Day, there was one at the Hilton.

I am asking for recommendations for a accordion player accompanied by a guitarist, a double bassist, and perhaps another instrument to play during the reception!!! Thanks a lot!
Austin Thompson96 said:That XL group is basically a folk ensemble—they play a lot of gigs around San Jose. They supposedly pull off a great vibe, but they aren't cheap.
You could go with Ante iz Kastel—he's my top pick. He's a great guy, though he books up fast, so you'd better reserve him early.
Marina Franicevic is also excellent, but watch out—she’s often out of California because she plays water polo.

Jack Murphy7 said:Word on the street is Marino is even playing with a wireless setup in the hall

Thank you so much! Does anyone happen to have the contact numbers for XL and Marina? Please send them to my inbox!
How far in advance should I start looking for an accordionist? I’ve heard about this XL ensemble that offers more instrumentation options—apparently, you can pick exactly which instruments you want, and they put together a custom band for you. Does anyone here have experience working with them? Also, what other musicians would you recommend?
Just a quick heads-up, ladies—I hope I’m allowed to share this! I just spotted on Facebook that the Say Yes wedding venue is hosting a wedding expo from November 7th through the 9th.

I really like the photos on their website, but I'm wondering if anyone has actually seen their video work?
Please share your experiences...

It looks like my timing was absolutely perfect! 😁 He showed us some of his films, and we were genuinely impressed by the quality. You should definitely send him an inquiry and set up a meeting; he will be more than happy to walk you through everything.
